Optimus is being optimistic about what the actual cost will be with ALL the NEEDED upgrades. AND robots like Optimus are creepy. Not to say, with the collapse of whole societies happening in the near future - that there won't be a NEED. --- Which is the sad part about why robots are being developed throughout the world. Optimus is in the phase of catching up to all the other robot developers around the world. They haven't reached the hardest part yet - making robots in human form useful.

The initial 20k is just the beginning. You're gonna be calling up repair technicians for these things a lot. I think it is very smart that they shaped the head the way they did. They can project a digital face on that surface, that is very expressive (using Stable Diffusion AI kind of technology) thus avoiding all the pitfalls of engineering a realistic face using mechanical means. This alone would be a major selling feature for the optimus. It's a wild guess on my part, but that is what I'd do personally.
I think it's interesting how they could help people in the company or even at home, Mr.'s comment is interesting because they are old, it would help them in various everyday situations, the robots are getting better and better and will undoubtedly be a great investment.

It's stated that these robots will have the ability to learn from the owners and gradually become aware of the owner's preferences. Will the purchase of the robot include this ability for the robots to learn the owners' preferences or, does this cost extra?
Since the robots as displayed were controlled off screen, I’m sure this robot will go nowhere soon. The Cyber Truck was supposed to cost $40,000 but the cheap one was $81,000, my guess is if the Tesla robot is ever released, it will cost $40,000 or more.
