    Hi, just done a similar build myself, not sure if you covered this or not in a previous movie but you should clock the piston rings to 10 and 2 and have the oil ring expansion piece at 12 o’clock

      Hello, thank you for your reply. I don't usually take apart new pistons and cylinders when I get them I assume the factory sets the rings accordingly. I hope your build goes well. Have a great day!

      Usually in the factory they just pop them in ... could be the gaps are completely at the bottom ... or all fully alliged... have seen it with kits of different vendors ... mahle, AA, Uber, ... ALWAYS take them appart and clock them ... or you might end up with a gas-in-oil leak and/or compression loss ....

    Piston rings not clocked, ring end gaps not checked, generator stand metal gasket facing wrong way, did you correct that before fitting generator ?

      hello, thank you for your comments. these are new pistons and cylinders. The gen/alt stand metal was not the actual one I installed from the new gasket set that I used for this build. The metal that is in the video was to help keep debris out of the engine. Or so I don't drop anything in the engine. This engine ran really well when It was started. I hope that answered your comments. Have a great day!!

      I wouldn't worry about the ring gap today as the manufacturing are far more advance today and more accurate.

    Thanks for sharing this video, I got the same brand of pistons ( and sleeves) combo, so you trust the rings position? I inspected one and the rings gaps were not lined up where they should be.

      It would be a good Idea to look at the ring gap position. Thank you for watching. :) #mountpac

    Why no paper gasket at the base of the cylinders as they come in the gasket kit?

      That's my question as well. Also, was there a check of the deck height to confirm the valves won't slam into the piston? Was that in another video?

    • @mountpac4464
      @mountpac4464  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is a stock build. I've never had a valve hit a piston. thank you for watching. #mountpac

      I don't use them on my builds. an old timer told me that he doesn't use them and he has been building for 4o plus years. thank you for watching. #mountpac

    If the engine is otherwise stock but a 1500 case with single relief with added a new doghouse cooler and all factory tin including factory thermostat, are the thin wall 87 cylinders reliable for long time engine life? I keep reading and hearing bad stuff about "thin wall" cylinders. I need my motor to run a very long time. It is stock other than the things above with 26mm oil pump.

      I'd recommend doing research and use the P&C and cooling set up for your particular engine needs. Thank you for watching. :) #mountpac

      Sorry for the delay in response. I think I got it online somewhere. It was years ago and I don't have a direct link to it. I know the idiot book has a similar diagram. Sorry I wasn't able to have better info for you. Have a great day!!
