Thank you! It’s pure passion. When I was asked as a kid what I wanted to do when I grow up, I said I wanted to be a RC magazine editor so I can share the hobby with as many people as I could. I made that dream happen and then when the magazine closed, I just reinvented myself to make it happen in video form. Thanks for watching!!
Great video, crawler looks awesome! Just started getting into the Hobby and THIS is my first crawler. I have a bunch of random stuff and a good spot in the basement to make an indoor course, and I've been gathering rocks/logs/etc. for my outdoor course under my deck out back. Should be in my hands tomorrow according to the post office and I can't wait! Already have a set of beadlock wheels and swamper tires ready to go! I feel like a kid at Christmas, been a while since I've been this excited about something.
@@nickmccloud8878 I'm loving it! I've had it out on the trail a few times and it just performs wonderfully. Dry trails, wet muddy trails, even snow (w/ swamper tires worked great) it just keeps going. I did break the front bumper and I broke the front driveshaft doing some more difficult rock crawling. I have a metal one coming as the original is just plastic. Full on rock crawling isn't exactly the strongest, it's a bit top heavy and sits a little high for steep inclines but as a trail crawler I could NOT be happier. For more difficult rock crawling it would need some weight down low, and probably lowered suspension among other things I probably don't even realize. My plan is to keep it as scale as possible and use it exclusively for trail crawling. I did just pick up a FCX24 Lemur for my more "rock" crawling terrain and that thing is a beast out there already and all I've done is heavier wheels and smaller tires. Can't wait to dig into it both more.
I just received mine and would like to send out notice that as of my purchase date of 10/24 it comes with clear windows and a nice full-length interior already installed. I got in on sale for $149 and free shipping Hong Kong to Japan. I have some Inora upgrades coming so looking forward to a lot of fun crawling,
The k5 blazer is about 160 or 165 shipped. This one is 180 but it comes with scale accessories like snorkel, wipers, ladder and rear tire mount. Also comes with performance upgrades metal links + lengthened wheelbase + metal chassis + extended axles + battery placement. That’s a lot for only an extra $20 usually all those upgrades would be way more
I love the new updates. I do wish they were able to keep the interior & molded fenders that came on the body like the previous version. I also wish there was a straight axle version.
Fcx is a proven performance platform that’s why there’s portal axles if you look on the fms video they have an interior with driver made for it already and a trailer
I like the fms rigs, just wish they would give the rig more shock location options. I'll like to run my shocks on more of an angle. Like to experiment with it.
I got one for Xmas and being a crawler noob I’ve got say I’ve been missing out. I’ve even invested in a trailer for it Awesome bit of kit Well done FMS 🤙🏼👌🏼
@tarantula-man my fingers are crossed for the Hilux, I'll do a replica of my own however I feel they won't do the space cab model, maybe just the single and twin cab
I've been owning a couple trx4m's and fcx24's, i say go with the fcx18 its just way better overall with portals and 2 speed trans.. looks better too in my opinion. Trx4m's stock gear ratio sucks ass you need to spend money to get it to crawl smoothly with the low range gears, it has shitty bushings instead of bearings wich makes it even less smoother and the screws on that thing keeps stripping, the servo and esc sucks, the stock oil shocks leaks ALOT and the famous binding issue with the steering.. it's a piece of shit and you don't have all these problems on the new fms rigs. I'm not a traxxas hater btw, it's just really is a piece of shit compared to others.
Mine arrived, but the car doesn't connect to the control. I connect the battery, then turn on the switch inside the engine, and then turn on the control and it doesn't connect. When I turn on the switch inside the car it even turns on the headlight and taillight but it goes off afterwards, but inside the motorcycle there is a red light flashing but it cannot pair with the control.
Great review! I was wondering about gears and bearings and you answered both. That’s also a good price for such a detailed body and what’s under it. I bet some guys are canceling other preorders for this one. Lol
Do you know if some parts are interchangeable between the FCX18 and the previous model? I recently bought the latter and envy the trailer hook and roof lights! 😉
Can it use both 2S and 3S batteries?? Wanted to get this as my first RC and order a good 2-3 spare batteries as well. Also would I have to get specific batteries for this model if I wanted to buy extras??
nice car , i love it. but why no nice box , all my other cars from fms/rochobby have nice transportboxes , so i can storage them nicely and transport them easy
received my land cruiser last year Christmas ,use maybe 3 or 4 times in side home , on floor , today i try to used only the lights on and steering wheel work not traction . no moved, full charge battery ,nothing some body know what the problem, tks guys.
I wished i watched this b4 i bought portal axles for the v1. Portal axles on the v1 makes it set way too high and now i know why. Because they chassis is different
Really cool but just like my FMS 1/18 1983 Hilux; I don’t know why they can’t get the tail lights on with the rest of the lights. Looks like they come on when it’s in reverse or turning.😂
Another great review. I'm not a fan of portal axles. Does anyone know if the FMS transmission can be geared lower to compensate for the lack of portal reduction is one wants to switch over to straight axles? I imagine that a sensored motor/ESC could restore the low-end, but I'm not willing to spend that much.
1/18th is what got me back into this as a 36 yo adult. 1/24 is a tad too small, 1/10 was a wee bit expensive for my liking. 1/18 cured all my ailments lol.
I'm really want to get this but even this tho most people seem to love the body, I don't. I much prefer the look of the trx4m land rover body. Do you think they will release this with a new body option soon?
The v1, ive been having to use scx24 parts. Will they fit the v2? Or is now full on 1/18? Also, curious. Do you think the v2 esc would fit the v1? Thanks!
Wow very cool.much better to get metal parts n lights and a 2 speed transmission and plenty of room for bigger tires.this 1 is going to be a great buy for your buck.and the price is just under 200 dollars wich won't hurt the pocket.i like the blue can't wait to get 1 or 2
now fms need to do this on the blazer and f10 i see a upgraded blazer for 199.00 upgraded anniversary model but they should do this standard on all 18 and 24 scale come on fms you can do it beat the traxxas
Get ready for both differential drive gears to crack open with no abuse. Then you'll lose first gear at first binding. Add a complete metal drivetrain to your supposed price
The original 1/18 FMS crawlers are still very good. They have less drivetrain slop than the fcx’s and just need aftermarket oil filled shocks to smooth out the ride and make them less tippy. The main downside is the small 050 motor which gets hot very quickly. A Hot Racing heatsink (made for the 030 motor but fit the 050) helps this a little. Still, for what this new LC80 comes with out of the box, yeah, it’s hard to beat the capability at the price point.
Not being a d-bag, but $180 pricey for this? We are in the same hobby, right? 🤷🏼♂️ Everything else in the class is only about $20 less, and they're junk unless you put a lot of money in them, and that's just to be on par with this. This is a steal, imo.
Só much energy despite doing this for years, this man deserves all the clout he has in the industry

That truck is so cool, love the oil shocks. $ 179.99 is a fair price given all the features that comes with the car. Excellent review RcDriver!
I agree. I didn’t get the price from them when I made the video. But now that I see it, it is a fair price.
That LC80 body is so nice.
This shows how much the smasher should be labeled 18 scale! Love this new line from Fms!
I love what they did with the lc80, it's now really fun and still has that awesome body, they listened too, we finally have oil filled shocks!
Exactly, Oil-filled AND aluminum. That was a nice touch.

The center axles are the same, their are not extended. On FMS web site you can see in the part list axle are for fcx18/24
Love it! I would really like to see them make the new Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro that would be awesome. Maybe even the new Sequoia and 4 Runner.
A Tacoma TRD Pro would be awesome to see!

Are you able to adjust the preload on the shocks?
It's alright... I kinda like the old version better tho... I liked it without the portals. It looks more proportional. I also liked the interior...
Is the gear box plastic gears too then ?
Is the yellow paint glossy like the blue and grey?
My son likes it, and also gud in service!
Waterproof? Runtime on stock battery?

Is this better that the SCX24 Jeep gladiator?
Have been looking at the trx4m, but dislike the battery option. En then this came out👍
