Rassie Erasmus Dilemma

  • World Rugby on Wednesday evening issued stiff sanctions against Rassie Erasmus for his infamous 62-minute video that criticised 36 on-field decisions made in the Springboks' first Test defeat to the British & Irish Lions earlier this year.
The eye-catching aspect of SA Rugby's director of rugby's suspension is that it's a compounded one.
Firstly, Erasmus is banned from all rugby-related activities for the next two months and, concurrently, not allowed to be involved in any match-day activities at all levels of the game until 30 September 2022.

Why I created my TH-cam Channel: Through my TH-cam Channel "Walking Tall with G-MAN" I strive to inspire and motivate people to never give up in life as well as using this platform to share my sporting passion.
When I was younger, I was told because of my height I wouldn’t be able to play a sport in school however I proved everyone wrong and played sport and became first-team cricket captain of my school.
Having dwarfism did force me to stop playing sport after varsity; however, I continued to share my passion through my TH-cam Channel.

World Rugby is awful but Rassie put them in a corner and they were never going to let him get away with it. It was a three man independent panel (2 Kiwi's and an Englishman) who
found him guilty, so did they come up with this heavy handed punishment or did World Rugby? If it was World Rugby as I believe it would be they just come across as spiteful
and have done themselves and Nick Berry no good at all. For the record l don't think Rassie should have done it but that punishment is ridiculous.

Agree apart from the independant panel. All 3 are contracted to WR!

It may be a storm in a teacup, but it does says a lot about the old farts at WR having overinflated egos towards constructive criticism from Rassie.

I think it needs to be not seen as a South Africa vs the world issue.
Do we want a situation were all coaches are using this tactic. If rassie got away with it lets be honest we would have Jones and gatland and god knows who at it every week

If World Rugby hadn't been slapped down, every single Union match played for ever would potentially have anti-ref rants. This cannot happen or we would have not sport. Rassie really loves himself, that's all.

I'm sorry but Rassie made that video exclusively for world rugby and Nic Berry which then was leaked unto the internet. Prior to this leaked video there is no evidence of Rassie publicly criticizing refereeing and has had a steller reputation. Just about all the coaches around the world privately question suspect referee decisions. They have to. Its their job. How else do you prepare your players for inconsistencies. Rassie real fault lies that he is incapble of doing anything with less than a 110 percent effort and instead of sending an email, like most coaches do, he sent an in depth analysis video that was leaked. So now world rugby threw the book at him with half the charges being subjective. The message world rugby sends is clear, don't question or criticize our referee or you are out. What woke cancel culture horse shit is this. The only ones that tarnished the reputation of rugby is Mr Berry and world rugby. What a sham.

I watched the 'Rassie rant video' and I CANNOT see how ANYBODY that is 'impartial' can say that the referee and touch judges and TMO was unbiased. The referee CLEARLY has MAJOR issues and totally dislikes the Springboks and THAT was absolutely, clearly and UNMISTAKENLY confirmed by his actions against the Springboks and his BLATANT neglect to punish the Lions for blatant mistakes and foul play. If nobody wants to call a spade a spade here, I will say it, the referee is a cheat! He is not worthy of such a position and as the Bok management I would not allow him to EVER referee a match where the Boks play any future international. Nick is incapable of being impartial. For World Rugby to act against Russie is equally sick and TRUE justice will eventually come about. They will reap what they sow! Instead of doing the noble and right thing to take steps towards equality and fairness acknowledging that SA Rugby and the Boks were done in by, they go after Russie to 'gun' for him and make an example of him. World Rugby STINKS and have lost ALL credibility as far as I am concerned. For many years this has been going on with no recourse whatsoever. The Boks always have to overcome incredible odds and too often the 16th man against them (the ref) to even get the winning result in a match. In Dr Phil's words, 'they do it because they can' ( the refs, that is).
The refs must be held accountable and unless they are going to bring in referee accountability, this sort of double standards and cheating will most certainly CONTINUE! Rassie should have been commended for bringing such blatant partiality to light BUT no they punish him instead. Some here says he brought the game into disrepute, but what HONOUR was there in Rugby to start with when SUCH partiality is shown in an INTERNATIONAL game that should be absolutely PROFESSIONAL and impartial? Those that say that are simply fooling themselves. Where and HOW does World Rugby even get to ban and punish Rassie like this for factually pointing out discrepancies?
Their ACTIONS just prove their blatant BIAS!

  • @thetroyzernator

    It's about fair.
It dragged both the series and the sport into disrepute. Soccer style manager bullshit and it should have been beneath him.
I'd have more sympathy if there were genuinely outrageous calls. But there was nothing unusual about that first test. The referee missed a few calls on both sides and ignored both captains if they kept badgering him.
Siya's accusations in particular were outrageous. Clear racist insinuation.
But of course the Springboks and their fans will take an us vs them mentality like they did when Bakkies gouged Fitzgerald in 2009.

You talked about the rugby channels on TH-cam and social media platforms the beginning of you're video, there was this quit funny NZ rugby youtuber who made videos like How to fix the blues and how to fix the wallabies, I think his channel's name was ENG GAMES but he deleted his channel about 2 years ago and I may be wrong but I think he did a few videos with you from what I've seen on his channel. You know who I'm talking about????
