Morgins Bike Park 'La Tobogane' World Class Trail Check

  • The Morgins Red Trail 'La Tobogane' has been tipped as one of the best in the WORLD! Here's a look at this legendary bike park trail.
    Morgins bike park is the furthest you can ride on your Portes du soleil lift pass and is part of the Champery Bike Park area of trails. By far the quietest trails in the PDS lift system with world class trails.
    The Red trail has a ridiculous amount of well sculpted corners, big road gap, loads of flow and some tech sections too. It's an all out test for bike and body!
    The rest of the trails are incredible but not ideally suited for beginners. If you are a beginner to intermediate rider then it is possible to ride here but your skills will be pushed.

    Great set of videos, PDS series is really informative. Thanks for pulling these together, really great footage.
    I was impressed how you managed to fit a plug into the last part of this video whilst still slaying a really technical trail! 😁👍🏻

      Oh yeah! Full on face/arm plant to a berm! It's such a great place. Have you been out on the new bike yet?

    great vid as ever bru.
    I've never made it as far as Morgins - to my detriment, it looks worth a visit. It seemed so quiet as well - perfect.
    sorry to see the tumble - I was watching how high you were railing those bucket berms all video after seeing the wipe out clip at the opening of the video - I was on edge watching each berm... you were enjoying skimming the tops until that point. Glad it was nothing more than a solid bump

      Yeah it's well worth a day trip!
      Cheers Andy, Yeah i always love taking the berm to the top but it has caught me out a few times throughout the years. That's been the hardest crash i've had in a long time and i forgot how much it can hurt! haha

    I love this trail, even if I never managed to pluck up the courage to hit the road gap. Nice job!

    Hi Jaime glad to see iam not the only guy to feel pain in Morgins place is full of traps I was following some lads that doubled up at 9,39 and 9.44 insane moves, agreed you to got drive, we rode then they stopped for lunch then we had to head off.

    • @MtbTrailHub
      @MtbTrailHub  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Funny you say that, almost every time i've ridden there somebody leaves injured! haha I thinks the trails encourage you to keep going faster and faster every lap and then it bites you when you least expect it!
      Yeah, that double is ridiculous!! way too much risk for the reward!

    Awsome looking trail you’ve got to give 100% concentration and commitment, I felt your pain when you crashed, wish you vids were an hour long ha ha, is morzine a place you got to a lot

    • @MtbTrailHub
      @MtbTrailHub  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah that's all it takes..... my mind probably wandered whilst talking haaha! Bruised all over from that one but it could have been a lot worse.
      1hr videos,Who knows Peter? Maybe down the line if the channel keeps snowballing then i might be able to spend longer at each venue and hire a videographer to help out?
      Yeah i've been going to Morzine since 09 and worked out there for 3 summers and then visited most years after that. You're planning to visit for the first time next summer right?

      Mtb Trail Hub yeah I had a few things planned this year, but that never happened due to corona so next year taking some time of work and making up for lost time , definitely be doing morzine for a couple of weeks, also fancy doing Finale ligure, and some other places in Europe not sure where yet though, and I always go to Madeira a couple of times every year which I highly recommend with freerideMadeira, and somewhere every mountain biker has to go , Whistler

    • @MtbTrailHub
      @MtbTrailHub  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Peter Beer sounds like you have a HUGE year ahead 😁. Mtb beds run trips to finale during spring.
      Madeira is on the bucket list 💯🙌🏼
      I’m running a trip next August in the Tarentaise area, give me a shout if you want any details 👍

      Mtb Trail Hub you have to do madeira , a week is a good , not to expensive , and a lovely island

    Which tires you recommend I put for Morzine visit? first time with my enduro and think of putting 2.5 instead of 2.3.
    Thanks

    • @MtbTrailHub
      @MtbTrailHub  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Avner, I personally think you will be fine with either as long as they are dual ply. XC or single ply tires don't last long out there.
      2.5s would be best though.
      Have a great trip!

    Is it hard to get here from the Swiss national trail in ur previous video
    Thanks

    • @MtbTrailHub
      @MtbTrailHub  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's much easier if you can drive from Morzine.
      It's not too much further, maybe another 20-30 mins from the top of Swiss national chairlift.
      Theres a video here with directions- th-cam.com/video/FxSCsIj4d0k/w-d-xo.html
      *Also worth noting* to get back you need to pedal out of morgins to Chatel on the road and then get a free bus from Pre La Joux Chatel into the bottom of chatel bike park. What ever you do just make sure you catch the lifts from there otherwise it will be an expensive taxi home!
      The lifts you must get in Chatel are called Pierre-Longue and Rochassons. Here's a 2022 timetable -en.chatel.com/bike-park-open.html
      Its fair to say you will spend a couple of hours traveling in each direction and 2-3 hours at Morgins. This is why the place is so great though because not many people put in the effort to get over there! Enjoy!

      using the lifts

      This guide describes it better than i ever could - www.mtbbeds.com/ride-morzine-morgins
      If you're staying in Chatel village then it's way easier to just cycle across on the roads. Not to far from the centre of Chatel village.
