This is a review and reaction to Movement by Hozier. I was very excited to hear a new song my Hozier, such a strong and passionate vocalist that writes really good songs. Movement is a new single that has just been released and is getting very strong positive reviews. Definitely has a signature Hozier sound.

    Movement - Hozier
    Lyrics
    [Verse 1]
I still watch you when you're groovin'
As if through water from the bottom of a pool
    You're movin' without movin'
And when you move, I'm moved
You are a call to motion
There, all of you a verb in perfect view
    Like Jonah on the ocean
    When you move, I'm moved
    [Pre-Chorus]
    When you move
I'm put to mind of all that I wanna be
    When you move
I could never define all that you are to me
    [Chorus]
    So move me, baby
Shake like the bough of a willow tree
    You do it naturally
    Move me, baby
    [Verse 2]
You are the rite of movement
Its reasonin' made lucid and cool
    I know it's no improvement
    When you move, I move
    You're less Polunin leapin'
    Or Fred Astaire in sequins
Honey, you, you're Atlas in his sleepin'
And when you move, I'm moved
    [Pre-Chorus]
    When you move
I can recall somethin' that's gone from me
    When you move
Honey, I'm put in awe of somethin' so flawed and free
    [Chorus]
    So move me, baby
Shake like the bough of a willow tree
    You do it naturally
    Move me, baby
    So move me, baby
Like you've nothin' left to prove
    And nothin' to lose
    Move me, baby
    [Bridge]
    Ooh, ooh, ooh
    Oh baby, oh baby
    Move like grey skies
Move like a bird of paradise
Move like an odd sight come out at night
    [Chorus]
    Move me, baby
Shake like the bough of a willow tree
    You do it naturally
    Move me, baby
    So move me, baby
Like you've nothin' left to lose
    And nothin' to prove
    Move me, baby
    So move me, baby
Shake like the bough of a willow tree
    You do it naturally
    Move me, baby

Many people have thought Hozier was dancing but that Sergei from the Take me to Church ballet video. Hozier's having a laugh at this coz he says he's not very coordinated and couldn't dance to save his life.

Ok so I looked more closely after and you're right it's not him. That's cool that it's Sergei from the TMTC video

Sergei Polunin, the guy dancing, is also referenced in the song when he says "Like S. Polunin leaping" And I just find that pretty cool.

“like s. polunin leapin’” is a lyric in movement

Sergei Polunin is mentioned in the song even. "You're more Polunin than leaping." Sergei worked with one of his songs in the past and did an alternate video for Take Me to Church, which in my opinion is second best only to this one! The two of them together is pure magic!

Hozier knows how to sing. His breath control is perfect. He is singing his poetry.

That is Sergei Polunin - he is a Ukrainian ballet dancer - trained at the Royal Ballet in London. He is AMAZING. Self-styled bad boy of ballet, tattooed, controversial etc.

React to Rewrite the Stars from the greatest showman - James Arthur and Annie Marie’s version.

The only thing( but very a very important one ) you missed in your review is that this is a ripoff from the fantastic song Retrograde by James Blake

Why, because of the stripped back approach and the clapping? That's ridiculous!, it's a style of music and they feel vaguely similar.

    • @mayaenglish5424
      @mayaenglish5424 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

The only part of this comment that's correct is that Retrograde is a great song.

@@mayaenglish5424 ...oh, and the chords, and the structure.. and the fact that he has has covered James Blakes retrograde before. Should I go on with som REAL music analysis or is this enough for you?

@@Maleeee confirmation bias much? there are similarities in style, but the melodies are different.
