I part exchanged my Golf mk5 for the 1.6 diesel and am delighted wth it. Build quality is excellent and the car is full of tech, at an incredible price.
Personally I like the previous model more. According to me the previous one looks more sporty. Also the dashboard looks quite boring now. Taste isn't debatable. Otherwise it wouldn't be a personal taste/opinion.

This looks nice! I'm gonna definitely wait (since I'm in the US) for this to decide if I'll get this, mazda3, Golf or civic hatch. In your opinion does the I30 beat the civic, golf and mazda3 in space, luxurious features, handling and being the most refined?
I think that this new i30 tries to look more European and blend in with other cars made in EU. They look almost like something VW or Opel would make. I understand that a lot of people see this as a good thing, but my personal opinion is that previous generation was more boldly styled. It looked more distinctive and unique, and IMHO looked much better. But hey, they're trying to win majority of the people, so it makes sense :)
Please tell us something of the cars characteristics. How smooth is the engine. What's the transmission like, what's the clutch like, how noisy is it. You know, everyday important stuff. Hopeless review. Having test driven the 3 cylinder model, my judgement is it's a great car ruined by two irritating problems that Hyundai should have sorted out before launch. There are a lot of the 3 cylinder models on the secondhand market. I think I know why.

Car Keys UK thanks! I'm actually trying to choose between buying a civic hatch or the Elantra GT sport (u.s. market). The civic ride was a little rough for long commutes. I'm hoping the Elantra GT will be a smoother ride over our rough American roads. I really like what Hyundai is doing lately!
Andy Lam I mean a new Elantra GT is coming and it's gonna be exactly the same as this i30. The old Elantra GT was also exactly the same as the old i30, only with a different engine
It premiered here at the Chicago Auto show. Will be released this summer or fall (2017) as a 2018 model. I'm waiting for the N-Division's offering. Was hoping for an i30/Elantra GT-N, but I've read that they are not doing it. Hoping that they do as a GTI competitor.

this new i30 look like a hybrid of Volkswagen and hyundai together.....which is good because it looks cool

If you want best handling for this class, the Ford Focus and the Vauxhall Astra are your best bet. But everybody has different opinions.
anyone idea about the sound system? is it average?
looks like a larger i20, but seems rather expensive

Knock £3k off list price, then take off the usual 10-12% discount and it's still too expensive.

Load of fancy electrics in a combustion engine, cars are like a piece of wood with a reversing camera
That screen ruins the interior, and the back is a blatant copy of a mk6 golf, only uglier.
WV will never do such a car with so much safety equipment and comfort in for such Price. Do not forget how wv cheat engines and CO2 emissions
They do under the Skoda brand, drives much better and is just as safe.
