That is the same 7 layer recipe I used to make. My uncle loved when I'd take it to family reunions. I haven't made it in years, since he died. I've never seen anyone else make it. Thank you Lynette for bringing that wonderful salad and memory back to me. Your an awesome cook.
My mom was German and we grew up thinking miracle whip was mayonnaise and I hated it wasn’t until I was introduced to Hellman’s mayonnaise at 18 that I realized I actually loved it!!! Love ❤️ your videos!
I love Amish country and try to get there at least 1 time during spring or early summer. It is so beautiful down there and we usually stay in one of the hotels or cottages down there. Can never have enough of Walnut Creek cheese.
Whoopi Pies! I am from Maine originally and my late mother made those all year long! And in the summer, she would freeze the cookies before filling them and then fill them with ice cream (chocolate, vanilla, coffee, pistachio, etc- according to all her kids favorites), wrap and freeze again. My kids and grandkids love them!
Whoopie Pies were a neighbor's specialty for summer get togethers. EVERYONE waited for them to come out. Seven layer salads would show up too. Never saw the chicken dish before, nor the cake. Look forward to trying both. Your pumpkin is growing too FAST!!! So glad she still lets you hold her and carry her around. Love the little curls and dolls!
I can’t believe how big Oaklynn is getting! I do miss seeing the boys, but love that you and Nick are teaching them the importance of a good work ethic at such a young age! They are such good kids!
Lynette, My family and I live in NJ and we go to Lancaster PA for a vacation some times. I love it there. When we are there I love there whoppie pies. I saw strawberry one year. I loved watching you make them. Oaklyn is so sweet and it so cute watching her play with her baby dolls.
Everything looks great! I make this 7 layer salad only adding the green peppers and cherry tomatoes, sliced in half, and green onion mixed with romaine sliced thin.. before adding frozen peas in a triflebowl..top layer mayo , sugar, bac-o bits, shredded cheese, more chipped green onion.. On top..love your videos🌷💪🙏💙🙏
we have walnut creek up here in franklin county, in a town called moira an mennonite was from lancaster penn and has a factory there called martin pretzels but the family lives here strangely llololol but we love them!

I LOVE 10 Layer salad (thinly sliced red onion)! That chicken (no poppy) casserole is a favorite of my family, I use a cup of mayo instead of sourcream and a tablespoon of lemon juice. You can bet I will be making that cake ASAP, DROOL!!! ♥️
Hey from Alabama!....we make this in the South, too, but minus the poppy seed and we call it chicken-rice casserole. It's so good and my now grown kids still ask for it on occasion. 7-layer salad is yum also. You're right, it does stay fresh longer and I like to add vinegar in the "dressing", too. So interesting that we are all from different parts of the country and can still have more things in common than not. Love your channel and your precious family! Thanks for sharing. ❤️
I made the whoopie pies and my mixer blew the powder all over my kitchen!! Also, I cooked mine too long and they were the texture of rocks. I decided that having you fix it would be wonderful and very tasty! Thanks for sharing. Gale Flowers
I married into a Mennonite family and since Poppy Seed Chicken is one of my husband’s favorite dishes we had it at our rehearsal dinner. Now our three kids love it too! Everything you made looks delicious!
Oh Julia that sounds great. I make a similar salad and I’ll have to remember that. Hi I’m Darlene from Souper at 60. I’d love to have you join me in my kitchen sometime. Lord bless ❤️🇺🇸
Pam I think she may have been talking about that cake. As for my comment I have no idea what I was talking about🤣. I meant the cake but said salad😬🙄. Lol
I love watching you cook, it all looks wonderful. I like the chicken dish - could I add peas and sweetcorn kernels to the chicken layer for a bit of colour and extra flavour? Your salad was amazing in that glass bowl!
I love 7 layer salad. I've had it with water chestnuts in it. I think you can pretty much do it however you want. I've always wanted to know how to make the Whoopi pies. And that cake looks awesome. We eat alot of chicken and that poppy seed chicken looks delicious. Going to try that for sure.
Looks delicious! I just discovered Walnut Creek products at a country store five minutes from where I live and work in Western PA. I bought some tortilla chips for my husband to try.
I have not made layered salad in a long time. Its going on my menu. Also that cake, looks so good. I make the rice and chicken thats going on menu plan too. Love your little girl she is so precious. Love her out fit too and the way she loves her babies. Shows what a good mother you are.
You are my GOALS! I am learning so much from you. From your kind spirit, to your faith, to your cooking, to your momming and wifeying. I so enjoy your channel.
Lynette, I love Walnut Creek Cheese in Holmes County. My best friend and I travel there from Cleveland several times a year to stock up on our favorite products. Wonderful store!!
My mom used to make 7 layer salad all the time, but she called it Dig Deep Salad, because you have to "dig deep" to get to the bottom. She also put it in a trifle bowl. I was never a fan. lol! The whoopie pies look delicious!
I always use frozen peas when making a salad. I like them better than canned because they are crunchier. Canned peas are too soft, I feel, to hold up in a salad. It all looks so good. It is cold here so I spent my day making a chicken/dressing casserole and lemon cupcakes.
Everything looks so good! Ohioan here that goes to Amish country twice a year for shopping and food. Thank you for an easy supper idea for busy week nights!😊
It's 7 layers counting the dressing😁I haven't had this in years! My ex's grandma made it all the time and I loved it! Now I have to make it❤Everything looks delish as usual Lyn! Thanks for sharing ☉
I've been making the seven layer salad for years. I use red peppers instead of green. I can't eat sugar so I use half a package of sugar twin to the mayonnaise.
I made the Chicken recipe last week and it was amazing! I loved it. Today I am doing the butter pecan cake....that filling is out of this world and the drizzle is so so good. Waiting for the drizzle and the cake to cool off before I put it together but I tasted it and it’s heavenly.❤️❤️❤️❤️
Yes, then you don't have to spread it either. I put mine in rows and turn every other row upside down and scoop the filling on, then press another cookie on top to spread it. So simple and fast!
I lived in Ohio most of my life and grew up eating 7 layer salad. My family is on the Keto diet and I plan on making the salad soon. If you use mayonnaise and no sugar it is Keto friendly. Thanks Lynette for reminding me about this great salad!!
Your recipes look so delicious! I haven't had 7 layer salad in many years. My Mom used to make it for special occasions. I'd love to try your whoopie pie recipe. Thanks for sharing🙂
The chicken and rice recipe sounds so much like chicken and rice a roni recipe that I heard from Mama Sue on Facebook. Chicken breasts boiled till done and either chopped or shredded. Cook rice a roni per box instructions. In a bowl mix a can of cream of chicken and 8 oz of sour cream with the shredded chicken and cooked rice a roni. Bake in 9 x13 dish topped with French's fried onions at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. I made it and it was a hit with my family. Hint - I made canned French style green beans and I mixed them with chopped onions and bacon bits. My family could not get enough. Yum yum. I'm gonna try to make your cake recipe. It looks scrumptious!
That’s the chicken casserole recipe my husbands family always uses, except we do Stove Top on top. There’s always at least two chicken casseroles at every get together because we LOVE them. I craved it when I was pregnant with our youngest. One night I made one, gave my husband one spoon full out of it and ate the rest of the 9x13 pan by myself. 😳🤦🏻♀️
My mom made the 7 layer salad all the time for family dinners and church potlucks when I was a kid. But I haven't had one in probably 20 years or more. NOW I must make one soon! I love all your videos, but the cooking ones are some of my favorites.
I made the caramel layer cake, but because I am lazy, i did it a bit different lol. I baked the cake, tore it into pieces, then layered the broken pieces, with a layer of the whipped topping, a layer of chopped pecans and then a layer of caramel and did that twice. I love this recipe. I could eat it all by myself. Oh this is the second time I made it, man, put a dash of cinnamon in the caramel. Too die for.
Whoopie's was the first cookie she taught me to make. All of your foods look delicious! I love using Walnut Creek brands as well. We have it here in Blain, PA.
I've been making 7 layer salad since the '70's. It is soooo good! It calls for frozen peas rather than canned peas that wouldn't work. It doesn't matter if the peas are frozen or not since the salad usually sits overnight. People ask me for the recipe all the time. Take a big bowl to a potluck & I guarantee you will bring home an empty container everytime. Any vegetable you like will work as long as that vegetable doesn't bleed & stays crispy. So purple cabbage isn't a good choice. I chop up raw cauliflower in mine. I agree with you that Miracle Whip is the prefered dressing .
Hey I’m so happy to hear you say that about Pamperedchef products!! I am a PC consultant up here in Canada. You should totally host a virtual party for someone down there. You would LOVE some other kitchen tools they have. Especially since you do well at cooking. 😍
We're from Western PA. I've had 7-layer Salad since birth. Every one of the women in my (large) extended family made it regularly and the dressing just a bit differently...but always with Miracle Whip. I can't remember a family get-together on my dad's side that didn't include it.
Everything looks great! I live just south of Dayton Ohio and plan to make a trip to Holmes county this spring! Love it there! I’ve only been to the Walnut Creek In Berlin so I’ll definitely have to check out the bigger location!
oh my we love this a new family staple i have been following you since you have started thank you for sharing your life with me and my family i enjoy watching oh and thanks for being real to who you are and to us not much of that out there !!!!!!:|

The layer salad and whoopie pies are common food to me and also consIdered, by me, comfort food. :) The chicken casserole looks delicious. I will have to try that.
I go to Holmes County about 4 times a year and I always stock up on Walnut Creek products. Always the best. Haven't had poppyseed chicken and rice in a long time, now I'm craving it. Your cake looks scrumptious!!! Great video as always

7 layer salad is my favorite. To dress it up even more, place the slices of hard boiled eggs along the side for one layer.
We have been going to walnut creek n cheese since they were in their first small building!
Life long fans. 💗💗💗
My mom was German and we grew up thinking miracle whip was mayonnaise and I hated it wasn’t until I was introduced to Hellman’s mayonnaise at 18 that I realized I actually loved it!!! Love ❤️ your videos!

😏 it sort of depends what ‘kind’ of work it is 🤪 they’re very typical children and it can be hard to get them to cooperate too
@@LynetteYoder still though, just being around and seeing their parents work hard makes a difference! It will all soak in! 😄

You are a great example for young women, God bless!
