Great video. Watched this and did the same thermostat change. Total time was about 2 hours. Moving all the electrical wires out of the way is key. Also make sure to have hose clamp pliers….it will make the job much easier. Also when refilling coolant, make to open the vent tube which is on the right side of the engine underneath the cover. I initially thought it was just a quarter turn valve but you have to unscrew it 4-5 times. You will hear the air coming out. For the hybrids, to rev the engine just keep your foot on the accelerator for 3+ seconds when in Park and the engine will turn on. The rev limiter is about 3K rpm. After reviving with full heat on, go back and open the bleed hose. Did this 2-3 times to bleed out any air in the system. My OEM thermostat lasted 14 years and 230K miles. It failed in the open position which took the car a long time to warm up and eventually threw a code. Changing thermostat worked perfectly. Good luck all!
Thanks I have this car. Work well most of the time. When something goes wrong there are never videos available. Engine light came on. Took it to shop he worked on it for a week. Gave it back saying it was fixed. Charged me $200. Light came in again. The thermostat looks old.
Yeah for some reason there is never videos of this car! Always the standard fusion lol. Mechanic probably like naaaaa we don’t wanna deal with this car lol. Hopefully it help.
@1nahalfmen980 Is the water pump on the opposite side below the hose assembly like standard Fusion or is it on the left side w/thermostat? Thanks for this video. A great help.
I think I’m in a similar situation. 2010 for fusion hybrid but engine takes forever to warm up. I suspect thermostat is stuck open. Never changed so it’s 14 years old and vehicle has 230K miles. Did changing the thermostat work for you?
Thermostat fixed my error code I was seeing. 2010 with 150K on her. Make sure you bleed the coolant lines after replacing. Didn’t get all the air out and she started overheating on the first run. Bleeding it corrects that issue
Update on the car. After getting the cooling hose and heater hose back and assembled. The car was overheating still so we replace the thermostat and it continued to overheat but…… the cooling time was way quicker after we put the new thermostat in. We looked at the water pump and we notice calcium build up around the bleed hole off the water pump indicating it was bad also. Wish us luck and get this new water pump in this 2010 ford fusion hybrid . God I hate working on cars .
hi i have a 2010 ford fusion hybrid and safety🔺️signal came on dashboard then car powered down & turned off 15 mins later but no engine light came on, will the engine light come on if problem is the thermostat?? manual says 🔺️safety signal goes to the cooling system, 3 mechanics cant find the problem my car turned on 10 mins later & warning safety signal went off, its running back to normal, mechanics say nothings showing up on diagnostic check?car has not overheated & see no leaks, thinking thermostats going out??
@@dianaquesada1951 could be a sensor issue or fuse isssue! Usually when it goes away it was a faulty signal. You’ll know when the thermostat or water pump goes out, when your car over heats. Thermostat radiator and then water pump in those order if needed to check for overheating!
My a.c wasn’t working one day and temp gauge was wrong , now my temp gauge is good and when I turn my a.c on my radiator fan turns on which it never does. You think this might be the problem?
But I had to the stop safely now light on the hiway two times and when I took the backroads home the car didn’t tell me to stop safely now , my coolant levels are good as well
Did you use distilled water when refilling the coolant? I also have a 2010 fusion hybrid but my coolant temp is not going above 140F. I suspect the thermostat is stuck open so will attempt to change. Car currently still has the original thermostat which is now 12 years old so guess I can’t complain. Thanks for this video though. It provides good guidance of how to access and change.
We didn’t. Use distilled water. I pretty much had to burp the car numerous times before he finally got all the air out. Not it’s running at operating temp and hasn’t gone up. Thank you appreciate it!

Thanks for the video! Had mine throw a code for thermostat this weekend. Luckily its stuck open. Fixing to replace it as soon as I get a chance

Can you do a video changing the coolant temp sensor please

@@dianaquesada1951 saves you time and money
@@dianaquesada1951 I would replace this parts due to how old the car is. And once these are all fixed. There should be no issue with overheating.
How many miles?
Over 200k lol

Naaaa that’s a good sign . There’s usually 2 fans one for a/c and one radiator fan. If you know both of them spinning that’s good.
But I had to the stop safely now light on the hiway two times and when I took the backroads home the car didn’t tell me to stop safely now , my coolant levels are good as well
There is one fan rite
@@ericbarros6051 if your car is one fan, the fan should kick in when your a/c is running. Or when you’re at a stop. The fan should kick on.
Fan is operating but Still overheating on hiway
