gopaljee cafe, delhi chole bhature, delhi style food, north indian, vegetarian, paneer bhaturey, chole, suvigya bansal, passion enterprise, inspiring story
Corporate executive Suvigya Bansal and her entrepreneur husband would scour Bengaluru in search of an authentic Delhi-style chole bhature. When they found none, she decided to quit her job and set up a small eatery that would endeavour to dish out the flavours of their favourite chola bhatura from Delhi. And so seasoned cooks were hired from Delhi, a complex 58-spice masala developed to ensure authenticity of taste, the right size of chickpea sourced to convey the flavour of the spices, et al. Barely had this enterprise found its feet early last year when covid struck! I made a surprise visit to Gopaljee Café one afternoon in response to a plea from the eatery. Suffice to say my conversation with this passionate lady entrepreneur and tasting of the puffy bhature and ‘mazedaar’ chole compelled us to return to film an episode of Gourmet On The Road. Hope you enjoy this one, enough to pay them a visit if possible. Stay safe and happy eating!
    Chole Bhature
The bhatura is light and puffy yet with a bit of strength, to match the tenacity of the 56-spice blend masala that is delicately warming yet has enough depth to linger on the palate. The chickpeas, cocooned in the flavour of the masala, a seasoning of oil, chilli and spices, are stained deep brown by some amla and cooked such that they retain their shape yet yield in a creamy texture to the bite. The mandatory topping of dry, spiced aloo (potatoes) adds a slightly tangy flavour to the dish. If you like it spicy, go for generous bites of the green chilli pickle in between mouthfuls of the chole bhature. If you like paneer, opt for the paneer chole bhature, which arrives with a paneer and coriander mince, stuffed into the bhaturas, and also atop the chole.
Rs. 100 (usd 1.4) per plate, plain
Rs. 125 (usd 1.7) per plate, with paneer
    9/10
    Lassi
The lassi is thick and creamy, garnished with nuts, and also provides cooling respite if you have ingested more of the green chilli than you can handle.
    Rs. 50 (usd 0.7)
    8/10
    Gulab Jamun
The way to end your meal if you have a sweet tooth is with their perfectly browned gulab jamuns.
Rs. 60 (usd 0.8) for two pieces
    8/10

    TIMINGS: 9am to 9pm
Note: The chole bhature are served between 9am and 830pm; the bhaturas are fried fresh upon order, so it may involve a bit of a wait especially if crowded.

It would be great if there is a website which shows all the hotels that you have reviewed on the the google map. So the users can check the nearest hotels and visit. (at least for Bengaluru)
Also great if we can browse hotels based on cuisine style. It could also be a service offered to the channel members.

KRIPAL Sir, Days have changed by your good passionate food review work. Earlier you used to request the hotels or restaurant to allow you to shoot, now the same hotel or restaurant people are approaching you by Instagram, E-mail, WhatsApp, Facebook to visit their establishments and review the food they serve. This is how a job done with passion creates a niche for itself.

First they have to boil the channas in the cooker. Then they add the pindi masala with green chili and ginger. Then they cook it in low flame by adding oil. During the whole process water from the cooker is added to the kadai to make the chole more and more dark during cooking process. As time passes the chole gets darker and fills with flavour.

First of all thanks to Kripal for bringing us close to the best food outlets in Bengaluru ...
Had my share of the football bhature today and I must say it’s the best I have tasted so far in the city. Also the lassi is one of the best in town...
    Now the honest review,
    -chhole could have been better
-my paneer bhature didn’t have paneer inside it when asked they apologised and provided the paneer bhature with extra charge 😜, so of course mismanagement
-gulaab jaamun garnishing with pistachio was missing, and also the coriander garnishing on the chhole was absent (looks like it was especially for the video 😄 only )
    Must try once....happy eating 😃

Me and my wife traveled from Nagarbhavi, mysore road just to eat Chole bhature based on Kripal Amanna show and his reviews. We started by 6:45 PM and by the time we reached the place it was 8:30 PM. When we went to the counter to place the order, the cashier was kind enough to understand that we have traveled from Nagarbhavi and he took that initiative to check with the lady who is in charge of the restaurant and she was so rude and replied "NAHI HOGA" in that high tone.... wow ...what customer service ... AMAZING... big thumbs up to you madam

Went to Gopajee today. They have shifted to a more bigger place. But sorry to say, the taste is not the same now. Perhaps, in quest to increase the capacity, they have lost the fine touch of taste. The food seems to have been made in a hurry....

Kripal sir has now become a name of an magical medicine. If anyone is not feeling hungry for some reason we can give him a tadka of Kripal sir videos. In no time the pallets start to ooze and the hunger starts by the way you explain about the dish or the way you savour the dish and relish it. Great way to enhance the hunger. Thanks sir.

After your review we went to the restaurant from half way across bangalore and except for the chole bature, everything else such as samosa, pani puri, chilly bhaji was very average.
