Been a champion of this album since it came out. So sublime. I am both surprised and very pleased that he won. Sometimes the basic ingredients of heartfelt writing and gorgeous melodies rule supreme. Congratulations Beck!!

Ludwig Albums But for Album of the Year, he shouldn't have even been a nominee. Ed Sheeran sold over 3 times as many albums in the U.S. alone, and sold over 1.5 million albums in the UK. Taylor Swift sold 4 million records in the U.S. and had multiple Hot 100 #1 hits. To me, Beck isn't relevant anymore and doesn't even show up in a conversation about Album of the Year.

Welcome to the Grammys it is not the peoples choice awards. Every one that wins a grammy thanks the academy. The academy is a group of very professional and musically endowed and trained individuals that select the best music in a given year, and one of the reasons they are chosen is originality rather than how much music they sold or made, etc.
