    I don't know how I ever survived without TH-cam! A visual demonstration always trumps a printed instruction sheet. thanks!

    Thank you so much! I'm a very visual learner and wasn't feeling very confident in my abilities with the directions the company provided. But your step by step installation was everything I needed!

    Excellent - simple instructions - real time install and it gives me the confidence to try this. Thanks also for not talking for 20 minutes about the benefits, the history of Rev-A-Shelf or the meaning of life itself. I appreciate brevity!! 🤣

    Good video... Tip: leave the two "tray screws" slightly loose so you can pop out the tray for easy cleaning.

    Think about applying blue painters tape to mark the placement of the drawer front before removing it.

    Rev a shelf sells such an excellent product, not sure why they hired "Pathetic Instructions Writing Incorporated" to do their installation instructions. Saved me a lot of time and grief. Thanks!

    May I suggest that one should mark the panels BEFORE removing them from the clips/mounts? they should already be lined up and square...just trace the outline prior to removal to make things super simple.

    Great video. Before buying the trays, make sure you have enough depth available between the sink and the tray. I only measured the length then noticed too late that my deep double sinks (Kohler Hartland) won't allow them to fit.

    Thanks! So helpful. I ordered the hinges and trays separately (not rev a shelf). It saved money that way. Unfortunately, they came with no instructions. With your video, no need for them. I agree, nice walk thru! Thanks again.

    Good video, just a tip for screwing in the tray, a hex head screw would make it easy because of lack of space for a screwdriver.

    A great help and much better than the instructions! My Rev-a-Shelf set didn't come with a template, so this video was super helpful. I do like Rhen's suggestions for clamps. I had a hard time not letting the panels slip. I also suggest having a light down under the sink. My panels were dark wood and I couldn't see the marks very well. I also put a pillow under me to keep my tender back pain free. :)

    Instead of "guessing" about the right placement for replacing the cabinet drawer to cabinet; why don't you register the door position before you knock it off. I would lightly use pencil to mark where the corners of the drawer door align on the cabinet. Knock them off and then you can put them exactly where they were before. No guess work.

    • @DoomFinger511
      @DoomFinger511 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Bingo, I suggested the same thing. It also says to do that on the REV-A-SHELF online instructions...

      Better yet, mark the sides of the drawer onto the cabinet using painter's tape

  • @k.b.woodworker3250
    @k.b.woodworker3250 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great, thanks! Nice tip about the grinding. I replaced the old cabinets, so had no instructions. They were on the revashelf website with the template, but the video helped a lot more. My drawer opening is slightly smaller than the template allows for, so I had to adjust the holes down about 1/8". People might want to check before drilling. The setback and distance between holes still was accurate. I used a hole punch on the template instead of a pencil. Made it easier to seat the drill bit.

      I had to install a magnetic latch to keep my drawer front from sagging. It was a little annoying to try to drill into the top edge of the opening; I wish I’d had a 90-degree drill head.

    Thanks, Adam! Good video! I'm pretty handy, but those "instructions" from Rev-a Shelf really suck! And my hinges weren't marked 'L' or 'R' either. I was fortunate enough to have my tip out trays on hand while my top was being fabricated, so after watching your video, it was a breeze. I do have one suggestion...if you need to get in there under the sink to take off the drawer fronts, if at all possible, hold the brackets in place to mark the pilot holes before taking off the false drawer front. Then, you know it will line up without needing clamps or an extra pair of hands. Thanks again for a very good, straightforward video. I'm checking out your others!

    • @DoomFinger511
      @DoomFinger511 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's easier to just draw an outline of the inside of the drawer front BEFORE you take it off (while it's still stapled in). Then you have a reference line that shows you were the drawer is exposed and where it touches the front.

  • @ginakerry2588

    Fortunately, our vanity will not be installed in the bathroom until AFTER this little project is complete.
    I liked one of the commentor's advice to mark the back of the panel from the inside and also mark for the hinges BEFORE even removing the false front panel. I might also be able to anchor the hinge in place before even removing the panel.
    Luckily our panel is only retained by six wood screws.
    I am hoping maybe 10 minutes or less to get the hinges installed and get the screws out.
    What will take the actual time is fabricating our custom cubby. I could not locate any 28-in wood or plastic bin attachment, so we will just make ours from some spare shelving and use liquid nails to attach it to the panel.

  • @krishnadyehouse931
    @krishnadyehouse931 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Your suppose to trace the panel on the inside before you remove it. To help center everything, and when you put the panel back on its even.

    great video but just a tip - don't tighten the screws when you mount the the trays in the end. If you store sponges in these trays the water will drip on the tray and if the screws are loose enough it lets you remove the trays for easy cleaning

    Just tried to install. DO NOT attempt unless you can fit a screwdriver under your sink up against the panel. There is no way to attach these if there is not enough clearance. We finally installed them on the back of the doors under the sink and they work well.

      It's easier to just put an electric screwdriver bit in a ratchet. The bits are the same shape as a bolt so a ratchet will connect to it.

    Reinstalling two of these in kitchen after cabinets were painted. Struggling way too much. My deep sink makes it extremely difficult to screw on the wood/ cabinet panels. It also seems like the original screw holes are off, as my two cabinets panels won’t sit perfectly aligned. I’ve tried loosening and micro-adjusting repeatedly 😖. Any advice?

    Wife just asked for this. Almost finished with The sink cabinet. It's 38" wide. Thinking of joining the 2 false drawers into 1 to get one big flip down. It that or make a center divider, and I don't want to make a divider.. Amazon sells this product for $17. I'll be ordering it and installing the 2 hinges for 1 38" flip down. For info on how it works reply. Give it a week for shipping.

    Dude never use a power tool for this, they are going into wood. A simple screwdriver would have been much better. You stripped the heck out of the screws, this will fail in the near future. take screws out and put wood glue in the hole and screw them back in.

    I would gladly pay them to send someone to install these. Have done them before, and the level of profanity required would be worth paying the extra. The end result is great, but the investment in time and frustration ALMOST matches it. Unless you are a special kind of masochist, don't even attempt it with the sink in place!

    There are easier ways of installing these tip out trays. I watched a few others to get a general idea for an easy install since the instructions are not good. I installed mine quickly and easier than how you did it by watching others. You are making too many guesstimates. And aligning the panel without a level THEN holding while it in place with your hand as you contort yourself to get underneath the sink?? You have to be joking.
