I added a gytr flywheel weight to my 17 yz250f and its made a world of a difference. Its able to crawl at low rpm up hills and through technical stuff so much better.
I had a 18 version. I got tired of stalling it in 1st gear in the knarly stuff so on went a Rekluse. First time I ever used one and this bike begs for it! It made the bike my favorite for tight and technical. Try it! you will be amazed.
I have a 22 yz250fx. I added a gtyr flywheel, hymec clutch and had the suspension rebuilt Plush. It's transformed my fx into a Rocky Mountain single track machine now, goes forever on a tank of fuel, no arm pump at all. Tractors up anything at idle.
Please do a video of the slow technical stuff that you talk about. I would really like to see how this bike is having a hard time. It would be an interesting comparison. I’m curious because my 2017 FX doesn’t seem to stall on slow technical trails. Have you tried a proper map for the slow stuff yet? Cheers
i have a 2020 250fx, of course it is more stall prone than a 2 stroke but you just have to adapt to a slightly different ride style. i found that its easier to leave it in 2nd gear and slip the clutch a bit in tight stuff. being fuel injected, i found 1st gear almost impossible because its so jerky with even a tiny bit of throttle. and maps deff make a difference. my brother got a 2020 250fx also, he came off a 300xc-w. he ended up putting a rekluse clutch in it.

The plastic right angle injector top is the problem and the reason they stall at lower revs, I have a 16 450fx and fixed the injector top and fuel rail and it never stalls now.
Let's see. Josep Garcia won the ISDE on a 250f before, Kailub Russell won the National Enduro Championship on a 250F, and Graham Jarvis's first Red Bull Romaniacs win was on a Sherco 250F. Yeah, they are pretty capable.
After researching for a new bike it seems like the yz250fx is the best 250f offroad bike there is but... after delving deeper the 2020 sherco 300sef factory does everything the yami does but better. Am i missing something or is the sherco badly overlooked??? What should I buy???
Sherco is a hell of a bike.. But consider this as a negative. Dealer support and parts availability. At this point, that's something to consider as they're pretty fresh to the consumer. Look into a 300 Redmoto kit for the Honda 250rx as an option. FYI

I think that's what he's saying it struggles with, and I can see where and why. I've experience flame outs when riding some bigger log hits when riding at a crawl, and unless the bike's momentum and rev's are not close to idle, it does have a tendency to flame out. However, if you can keep the bikes momentum up usually it will do just fine.
I could not agree less! My YZ 250 FX is great for technical stuff. I have a 250 2 stroke and I love it but the Yamaha has way more torque and makes the slow/technical rides a lot easier.

David Smutz I am from Germany. So I have no idea what GNCC means... 😂 But in my opinion is it a Motocross bike with a “X“ in the name and a 18 inch wheel. A real offroad bike is a KTM EXC (for you X-CW I think)...
Haha That makes more sense! Lol A simple typo error...although the suspension/mappings/gauges make it much more usable for offroad/trails...the "X" is actually the "cross country" designation, so as stated above, it's designed for hare scrambles, GNCCs - basically all cross country applications. I was a previous owner of the 16 version and really loved it...just love my Husky 2 smokers more. ;) Cannot beat the versatility of a TX300i or XC300Tpi. :)
Is this your idea or slow technical? I'm not being a dick about it but this to me is open. I'd ride a 450 in stuff all day. Hell I'd ride my 990 in that even. Technical for me is rocks, roots, signal track hard Enduro. Things normally the domain of a 250 or 300 2T, less stalling, less heat build up. My KTM 350 XC-F is a pain in the ass in slow technical. Hell Karl, you owned one too for a while so you might have some idea what i mean. They won't chug, like revs but go like hell. Still need to ride them like a 250F however. Kyle if you get the chance you should try the 2020 KTM 350 exc-f. The bike won’t stall in first gear at all. I just purchase one two weeks ago and it is an all around Great machine. It feels like a mountain bike with a motor that is so smooth and handles amazingly well.
Sounds like you need a rekluse auto clutch to fix your stalling in first , and you would have bike to make you happy
Well hell I made a comment then read other comments and some one said what I said so dunce hat intalled here
Couldn't stand having a hot mic the whole time.
Top speed
James Haskins faster than Ull ever go
Nice
I don't no why they keep doing reviews on these bikes there the same bike year after year my 2018 is the same as the last 4years
do I smell orange koolaid??
Just put a Rekluse on it. Done.
Learn how to use the lever on the left and save a grand!
It is a motocross bike, what did you expected?? 😂😂
The 250FX is technically yamaha's offroad race (GNCC style) bike. Not a motocross bike.
David Smutz I am from Germany. So I have no idea what GNCC means... 😂
But in my opinion is it a Motocross bike with a “X“ in the name and a 18 inch wheel.
A real offroad bike is a KTM EXC (for you X-CW I think)...
F in the name is for FOUR STROKE. lol
Jonathon Davis Of course I mean “X“.
I preferred the 450 for that reason. 450 = lazy power and i like that alot. I am 108kg naked if anyone cares. :0)
He never said it was slow and technical. He said it was open.
@@toddkurtz7635The video name is good in 1st gear? With a title like that what is one to assume? Plus i didn't watch all the video. Karl does some great stuff but not sure why this one one has that title and that video. I might have missed the point somewhat.
@@twowheelpilot Hey Greg his name is Kyle
@@jakeschmidt7977 Thanks, my mistake.
