So stupid to use trace together app as evidence. A criminal can put the token at home and go out to commit crime. Then he can say that he is at home during the crime because his data in trace together recorded him at home during the time of the crime.

Correct. Without openness and transparency in government there is no real accountability. Moreover, combined with the lack of basic freedoms and a free press elections are not free and fair. Singapore is not a REAL democracy just like it is not a REAL First World country. It might have First World per capita GDP (and sadly the same for cost of living with stagnant wages) but not in terms of real wages, productivity, work quality and standard of living - the things that determine the quality of life.

Just for funny : post Trace Together, will there be a sequel called *TraceForever* if given wide public acceptance or adoption?
If and when there is TraceForever, the public can decide on whether they like it or not in 2025. Remember, one man one vote, the govie is and always will be accountable for every action they make during their tenure.
That said, i think the govie has been as open and as transparent as they can be thus far. Amidst some missteps which have been corrected and acknowledged.

You will be forced to worship one single religion. The religion will also be united under one single entity.
They will do it systematically and incrementally. There is no escape. Everyone, including the rich or poor will be forced to accept it, if not, they will be killed or forced to live outside this economic system.
Total control and total tyranny. Anybody who criticises the system can be traced digitally. All the CCTVs will be hooked up onto a cloud system and location traced.

Singapore is being used in their plan as a model to “advertise” to other countries to adopt central planning and state capitalism. Police state. Henry Kissinger and Bush Sr were the grand architects of this global vision.
It is a plan they planned for centuries starting with the East India Company. Multi-generational family controlling the banks around the world who fund wars on BOTH sides in human history. So countries get into debt. The politicians get controlled and blackmailed by these people.

What is the big fuzz with police using trace together to fight crime?? If we can give another tool for the police to fight crimes more effectively and efficiently, why not! What I feel we need is better governance to make sure police need to justified the use of the data and they are not using it for their private purpose or abuse these data. Perhaps, a court judge should decide rather than police dept.

I am OK with the trace together data. Because I don't do anything bad. I felt this thing is good for old folks who cannot find home and police can help to locate them. Or if we suffer injury or fainted, help can be instantly administered.
That means that his team 1) seem to lack proper experience in working in the government (ironic, right?) given that no one in his team had thought up the possibility given that privacy was asked repeatedly. 2) they really need senior DPS to advise them instead of listening only to all these young punks on policy. IMO, it is lack of experience or communication with MHA/AGC on this as well as the general policy experience.

I like to bring attention to the concept of Power , Control , Freedom and Monopoly , Democracy and importance and purpose of having *ALTERNATIVES*
1. A dominant player like *WhatsApp* has proven can do things that force many to reluctantly agree to their policies they introduce.
2. A dominant app can introduce annoying Ads and you are forced to accept the nuisance due to *No Alternatives* They can even make you pay so that they remove the problem they created for you so that they can earn money from you using their solution to the problem they created. Eg. Anti Virus.
3. Food Delivery monopoly or near monopoly or domination. *MONOPOLY is almost Always Bad* It benefits mainly the guy at the top of the food chain.
4. Alternatives need to be available *AS AN INSURANCE AGAINST UNFAVORABLE TREATMENT GIVEN TO THE WEAK AND VULNERABLE. INSURANCE IS A NECESSARY COST . DEMOCRACY COSTS SOME INEFFICIENCY IN GOVT. BUT ITS VALUE IS AS GREAT AS AN INSURANCE YOU BUY*

So did Singaporeans or majority of people in the world suddenly stop using whatsapp? Did people not share data on their shopping, gaming and social media apps that are actively exploiting users' data for monetary purpose and self gains? Its honestly all about trust, risk and rewards. You trust whatsapp not to giveaway or publicize your personal data and you decided that letting them collect your data so they can target and personalize ads at you is acceptable so long you want to use their platform. Likewise, TraceTogether is designed to help with contact tracing during the times of pandemic and most people have no qualms about it. Most Singaporeans trust the government and police to not misuse their data and would continue using it as long as it helps save the lives of people.
Seriously this whole thing about data and privacy here is a waste of time, people complaining about the possible risks of data being misused but have no problem uploading their personal data and information on social media and shopping apps that poses an even higher risks that doesn't have a higher purpose of helping save lives in a pandemic. Seriously its double standard if people complaining about TraceTogether continues using whatsapp and many other apps that collect your data. Especially google maps which is actively tracing you via gps and collects the data on your footprint and the places you visited.
Trace Together is somehow an 'investigation' tool. What is the big fuss to use for crime investigation!?

Pritam Singh did only one thing. Complain. He did not come up with TraceTogether or alternatives or developed nor participated in developing or on his own accord supported in his own capacity to aid in any endeavour to combat the virus

Also what can he do when he is not a cabinet minister? You go and handle covid-19 yourself without any resources and see if you can?

Pritam Singh should take one stand. He is playing cheap politics by saying that TT should be exempted from police using it and at the same time will support Government for introducing rules for TT use by police or criminal classification under which police can use TT data. This issue has been blown out of proportion as police all over the works has access to data from any device to track criminal offences. If you say this is a very small issue, the discussion will be changed to trust issue while the Government was the first to come clean. And the Government has made very clear by releasing the criminal offences. Parliamentary time and resources are wasted in such meaningless discussion. Pritam is playing to the gallery of WP supporters. He knows this is a small issue but admitting and moving on would displease some WP supporters. It requires courage and honesty to admit.

They were wishy washy "We support Government but we like TT not to be used for tracking". There cannot be weaker statement than this one from Pritam. Vivian said he takes full responsibility for this issue and that requires courage and integrity. It shows grace and big thinking to move forward as this is a petty issue for which emotions, time and resources are wasted. I wish LKY was there to address this issue and he would have said "Why are you afraid of TT being used by police for criminal offences when you are not afraid of other devices and services. one has to be a criminal to be afraid about this TT being used by police for serious offences". Current Government does not believe in such tone and wants to adopt a friendly tone. But not all Singaporeans are ready to appreciate and they rather not worry about their privacy being encroached by various ways but worry about TT being used for criminal offences. As Singaporeans, we have to raise our awareness to higher level than whining all the time and waiting for any issue even if it is small to be blown out of proportion. Not healthy for the future of Singapore as this will polarise the small city state with unnecessary debate and rhetoric.

this isn't a school courtyard, pressing on the issue like pritam did was exactly what I expected of him. his views and questions were very much in line with mine with regards to the whole mistake issue. I was not expecting him to demand an apology like certain members did to sylvia lim or talk about taking a bow and committing harakiri. the actions befit the representative I would like for myself in parliament. what did my pap mp do? nothing.
courage and integrity ? talk is cheap. what consequences did vivian face for 'taking responsibility'? it's something he should have done ages ago as a decent human being. take responsibility one day after you find out, not half a year later
we now know that vivian had ample opportunity to admit his mistake since June? october? but kept quiet until Jan, chose to persist in his dishonest act and the rest of the pap ministers not a single one of them stepped out to correct his mistake.
Yes vivian isn't a lawyer but shanmugam is , there were criminal lawyers present were there not? even if not , the police would be aware that tt data was used for investigation, could have highlighted to home affairs minister and therefore there was simply no excuse for the government to not be forthcoming about this mistake within one week from the date he misspoke
on the privacy point , I strongly disagree with you , tt token is a complete unnecessary tool for crime investigation, it's just an added convenience, also this is a democracy and many people feel uncomfortable being surveilied and tracked regardless of what they are or are not doing. if you enjoy being watched, well just too bad for you , you're the minority .

@@taeyeonist1462 If a person is sleeping, that person can be woken up. If the person is pretending to be sleeping, it is impossible to wake up. You refuse to see the reality. Any device (video surveillance, mobile phone, social media, e mail, apps used for banking and Government services, etc, etc) come under CPC for criminal investigation. Future devices such as AI and other forms will come under CPC for criminal investigation. TT has to come under CPC whether it is used or not for criminal offences. This is automatic for criminal investigation. So this is not an issue unless a person is a criminal. Vivian said he realised it and was working to get TT exempted from CPC but that was not possible. He admitted that he misspoke and Government has released guidelines in parliament and approved. And he admitted that he takes full responsibility. Pritam was wishy washy and he should object to all methods of tracking for criminal investigation to protect privacy. As I said before, use of TT for criminal investigation is going to be one of several millions entries. There is only one such tracking using TT as I understand and compare that to 100 millions safe entries that could have happened with TT. Singapore has done a great job in managing the pandemic. I talked to many people in many countries and they wish they were in Singapore. We are lucky for now to be living in Singapore. You are emotional and who you vote for is your prerogative but you are wrong and to think that you are right is also your prerogative. It is also your prerogative to think that WP has set of competent people even though they can't run their own town councils properly and how Jamus flip flopped on minimum wage and said this was not the time to introduce even thought he introduced. Vote for whoever you want. But I maintain that this TT issue has been blown out of proportion and people who oppose are emotional and have hatred for PAP on anything they do. @@seshsampath everyone who is investigated at a crime scene includes both criminals and non criminals. The CPC does not provide for only access to criminal data. Indeed at the stage where the data is a necessity to obtain, the suspect has , in all likelihood not been proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt. So your point about only criminals being involved is uninformed naivety.

1. He was not Confrontational! Some may not feel he is speaking as a Opposition MP vis-a-vis foreign countries like Taiwan.
2. He support the govt bill and support the need for TT. Some may not feel shiok about this style of Opposition. Just silently support will do. Dun need vocal it mah
3. I cannot find any flaw in his raising the problem to PAP. I not happy about this.
