  • For former NASA scientist and forever 3D printing nerd Tony Boschi, Markforged is go for launch.
    Tony and the team at @sidus-space have spent the last four years working on LizzieSat, a partially 3D printed satellite that is set to launch on the SpaceX Transporter-9 rocket in 2023. Throughout the design and building process, Sidus found that at every turn, Markforged materials and parts met the rigorous standards required for space travel - from strength and traceability, to economy and speed.
    Now, for the next five years after launch, Markforged parts will be orbiting our little blue dot.

    Fantastic !! I agreed 100% that with a Markforged 3d printer the parts are reliable, consistent and precise every time !! My Mark Two has thousands of hours on it and I still never have to be concerned how a part will turn out because it turns out like I designed in Solidworks !!

    Is Onyx has the lower outgassing property as it is the primary requirement for the space application?

    • @markforged
      @markforged  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Ashish! As with all uses of 3D printing and is materials, it's always a case-by-case basis. But for this particular application, the properties of the material were evaluated and considered suitable for the application.

    If I wanted to do some Geant4 modelling of say a CubeSat what is the makeup of Oynex, Carbon Fibre material i.e. How would you define it in the Materials section of a GDML file. Thanks

    • @markforged
      @markforged  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Keith! Thanks for watching and for the comment. We'd recommend that you check out our Simulation software, which can assist in defining how much Carbon Fiber needs to be added for the defined load case. Let us know if we can help further! markforged.com/software

      @@markforged Thanks - What about the makeup of the Onyx, is that confidential? and somebody designing say a CubeSat would have to sign a NDA to get a break down of the Chemical Elements.

      @@KeithSloan52 Hi Keith - I've attached a link to our Onyx materials page, which has public information on it.

    I hate when people do not use the index finger to point at things, everything else is great

    • @markforged
      @markforged  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for watching and for the comment! Though we might suggest looking a little more closely as to why someone might not point at something with their right index finger...
