Chemistry is my first love . It is almost 11 years since i have passed my high but i still remember all those reactions. Chemistry is still in my veins.
if potassium has the consistency of cream cheese, then either: A: both you and your knife are the weakest things ever or B: you have not got very fresh cream cheese.
@@SquiggleMom Thank you so much :) im studying the periodic table right now in school and i didnt really understand that word when you said it. The video really helped me.
yes. phenolphthalein when added to a basic solution turns pinkish purple. Also after the reaction NaOH is formed which is a strong base. We can also say that a basic oxide will be formed because alkali metals normaly react to give basic oxides and non-metals give acidic oxides
You are partly right..It is not my video. It was cut from TH-cam's remix content several years ago. I did not download it from NCSS. It was on the Creator Studio.
well if ur talking abt phenolphthalein then it is an indicator which means adding that to a solution can tell us if its an acidic , neutral or basic solution depending on the colour formed. Here a pinkish colour is formed so the solution is basic and obv because NaOH is basic or always alkali metals form basic oxides. if u r adding phenlophthalein is added to an acidic substance then the phenolphthalein will be colourless that means the solution wont show a colour change.
Sir is lithium more reactive than potassium and sodium? I am in great problem in this topic.some of our teachers say that pottasium is reactive than lithium, some considers pottasiom.plz clear my misconception
Réaction sur l'eau. Le lithium solide décompose l'eau avec dégagement de dihydrogène. Li(s)+H2O(l) ---> ½H2(g) + Li+aq + HO-aq Dite moi si je me suis trompé c'est bien ça non?
Anybody else here in covid and in lockdown and doing online school- and this is the vid ur teacher suggested?

I loved these reactions.
i hope it's not literally in your veins... that would be bad
chemistry too confusing >
Good demonstration and explanation to Alkali metal
VERY INTERESTING! LOVE REACTIONS WHICH APPEAR IN CHEMISTRY! Especially explosions.

1:43 startled me
what is the thing you add to test if hydroxide was made ?
I think you mean Phenolphthalein? Or litmus paper?
@@SquiggleMom Thank you so much :) im studying the periodic table right now in school and i didnt really understand that word when you said it. The video really helped me.
It was phenolphthalein 😂
1:43 I bet you saw (and heard) this and went "Whoa".
beautiful video.
Nice job. Did you record in higher quality by any chance?
wow, it's enjoyable, I will love to work with you one day
Sound sorta like Matthew McConaughey.
Who is watching this video after 7 years😳
Kind of crazy, but a lot of people are!
It's the water vapor in the air that the alkalai's react with not the oxygen (or at least not so much)
Li reacts with oxygen in air not water vapour to form LiO2
Is u added phenopthaline after the reaction so it's turned pinkish purple?
yes. phenolphthalein when added to a basic solution turns pinkish purple. Also after the reaction NaOH is formed which is a strong base. We can also say that a basic oxide will be formed because alkali metals normaly react to give basic oxides and non-metals give acidic oxides
I dont understand yet how this proves the flammabillity of the metal?
If they are added in a larger amount, it can cause burns and can even explode
VERY GOOD AND INFORMATIVE EXPERIMENT, BROTHER. SO GREATE👍❤
woah Kodak😲
All 3 of them are reacts with phenolphthalein in basic solution?
Yes phenolphthalein in an indicator which turns to pink when added to a base like KOH,LiOH,NaOH.

Cool beans
is that fuckin Matthew McConaughey?
Yep
thanks i learnt a lot
I can understand why during Potassium he didn't try to collect Hydrogen like the other 2.
I'm honestly surprised he did it with the sodium, since it explodes pretty easily.
This is not her video, she has download it from NCSS's channel.(mp4)

why put one or two showers of a liquid? is to see the acidity?

Has anyone ever tried to make a mixture with both lithium and sodium?
