- Despite the frequent enforcement operations, some drivers and riders are still trying their luck inside the exclusive bus lane on EDSA.
I've personally noticed a significant reduction in the number of people misusing the bus lane. At least during certain hours.
I suspect that once the new penalties come into effect, we'll see a further dramatic reduction in the number of people misusing the EDSA Busway. - บันเทิง
This is why the bus lane is important and should not be used by just anyone. Especially in that situation where emergencies are happening. It may not be an ambulance, but it will certainly help someone who needs to get to the hospital quick.
This behavior will never stop unless MMDA together with LTO revoked their LICENSES for 15 to 30 days with penalty
The new penalties actually includes suspension and eventual revocation of license, for repeat violators.
Better yet get their license plates. It's far more nerve racking for kamotes to brave the streets without a license plate than without a license.
@@sb17146 Here's the thing about Plate numbers. They can order a temporary plate that is available everywhere but any MMDA or LTO can spot fake license.

Yes, I agree that the enforcer should get the license at the point of apprehension. This lessens the hassle to the enforcer or enforcers of running after the culprit and putting themselves in danger.
Para walang hassle dapat ang enforcer doon mag pwesto sa entrance, tingnan mo mga sasakyan pag nakita nila ang enforcer lumalabas sila agad sa bus lane to avoid penalty, so therefore kung doon nag pwesto mga enforcer sa entrance doon palang hindi na sila papasok sa bus lane.
@@Retro1965 I think ginawa na nila yan before kaso pag lagpas sa enforcer naman pumapasok lalo na kung walang barrier tulad dyan sa video. Tama si @gadgetaddict na need taasan yung penalty na 1k pesos lang.

The contract must be cancelled or contractor penalized each time they "government contract/project" as an excuse to violate traffic laws.

At this point - with all the media and online info dissemination regarding the bus lane - you can say that these people do know that they shouldn’t use that part of the road, but they just don’t care.
So, what should authority do to people who don't care about the law?

Rode the EDSA bus last night, and yes, there are motorcycles entering the bus lane.
Maybe another inconvenience the enforcers may do is to drag the ticketing process so that those violating the bus lane rule will take even longer to get to their destination. :))

Happy to see someone actually benefit from the bus lane when in an actual emergency. Random question, if you were in a real medical emergency like the car shown, can you use a coding vehicle?

i think its a Yes and No situation, when you use the vehicle for an ongoing emergency then its a yes, but once its over then probably its a no, like you drive back home after the emergency.
They should add a tint scanner to know exactly if the tint is in violation of an existing law regarding tints, particularly very dark shades. I believe its about road safety and thats why the scanner bcoz we cant tell if its super clear inside vs outside and if that is also the case when ita dark.
I know, too many rules but hey as long as it makes the daily commute more safe for the motorist and pedestrian/commuter, much better

Aren't "Wang Wang" and red/blue lights not allowed? ONLY for deputized vehicles like Ambulance, police cars? 1 offense has to be high, 2nd higher and 3rd suspended license.. repeat offenders must have their license revoked.. the sheer arrogance and entitlement makes them use the bus lane, not thinking of the 50++ people transported by each bus from A to B tsk tsk!
is there a law that prevents you from letting everyone see the apprehended vehicles plate numbers?
I mean it's public information, they have been caught in public roads. so publicizing the plates shouldn't be an issue right?
Some people feel entitled or just like getting ahead of others even if unfairly... I really hope that MMDA and iACT intensify and are able to sustain their operations against bus lane violators until there are almost none.
Why not install a permanent barrier like the ones before? The one mmda took down to widen edsa.

Ticket should be more than 1,000 pesos.
It should be 20,000 pesos payable in 3 days or you license is revoked.
best way to deal with this is to put a barrier, it's inevitable that violators will always come around and use the bus lane.

Hindi titigil yan kung hindi aaksyunan ng LGU. Isipin mo na lang yung ibang mga karinderya/carrepair mga na nakaharang, papayagan ng LGU na mag-operate ang MMDA pero hindi aaksyunan ng LGU yung mga nakaharang na karinderya/carrepair. So sino talaga may kasalanan? LGU.

MMDA should show an updated info about what kind of Marked Vehicles are allowed to go or we can allow to pass especially when there's heavy traffic. Nowadays, someone who have a black and white plate with flashing red and blue lights insists to create a way for themselves and even use their sirens just to let you know that they want to pass.
Also, to prevent jerks who puts government stickers or emblems just to look legitimate.
Maybe they should penalized inappropriate use or abuse of hazard lights.

10% ng MSRP ng sasakyan/motor kung san sila nahuli dapat. Mas mahal ang sasakyan, mas mahal ang multa.
Kung worth 1M ang sasakyan mo nung binili (as new), 100k din ang multa per violation.
Also I would like to add that in the US, there's also a law with window tint for Front and Side windows: Must allow more than 25% of light in. Here in the Philippines, it's like the Wild Wild West. most pinoys dont respect traffic rules and regulations but they're law abiding citizens outside the country 🤦
please suggest to the mmda to increase the minimum fine to 50k. let's see if they will still dare to break the rule.

no contact apprehension is needed on bus lanes. ticketing motorist in the middle of the traffic makes the traffic heavier

Not only inceease in penalty but anyone attempts to run away should have their licenses automatically confiscated! For repeat offenders of trying to see run away, license suspension!

The fine for these violators should be 5k and additional 1k for the next offense.
Maybe take the license and let them take the lto exam again for those who got caught. Follow the rule or take hassle for the whole day in lto branch to retrieve the license 😅

The LTO should deputize the MMDA to confiscate drivers licenses of those unauthorized vehicles using the busway.

As much as I love seeing vehicles getting apprehended, I’m sad with the sheer number of people who won’t toe the line. It’s a simple law. Don’t use the bus lane. It’s not difficult.
Voilators should have 40days grace period for clearing thier violations but make it tedious procedure like taking traffic schools, get cert from that traffic school, go to courthouse for clearance, then pay for violations. Everyone hates to get hassled. This way, they will avoid hassles and commiting voilations.
Just need years of consistency for apprehensions and it will be like in Davao city, even PUVs wouldn't dare set foot on pedestrian lanes now because in the first year it was implemented all traffic enforcers will automatically ticket you even on a mere shadow of your vehicle hitting pedestrian lanes.

I did talk about that in the video :) In the past, they have used their bikes and cars to escort people during emergencies.
But in this case, they don't have the bike there with them.
So they'd have to run to where their bike is parked and then try to either counterflow against the traffic, to get into the bus lane. Or go ahead to the next entrance and try to find the car again.
Basically, just letting the driver continue in the bus lane is the fastest way to get them to the hospital, in that situation.

if a motorcycle use the bus lane, slap them with 3-5k worth of fines and 8-10k for 4 wheels vehicles, higher fines will deter the drivers to break the law. plus, double the demerit points for those who have professional license holder. make harder for them to drive on the public streets... lets see after 4-9 years how many licenses where revoked due to demerit points

I think the best penalty is to impound the vehicle on the spot. The vehicle will be released after a month.

This behavior will never stop cause you're trapping the motorists, is that your goal? It's a band aid solution if you'd ask me. Get enforcers at the start, middle and end of the line and guide the motorists away from the bus lane to the regular lane rather than just issuing a ticket.
LTO has the right to give them a ticket. Remember, you need to DEVELOP not ISSUE a TICKET, it's not Metro Manila Issuing A Ticket Authority, it's MMDA - Metro Manila DEVELOPMENT Authority.
