Ahh I' haven't scene a Mark Crilley video in such a long time. I've missed them to be honest. They're always so fun and enjoyable. And Mark Crilley is what really started getting me back into art and drawing.

I remember watching your channel when i was 12-13 years old. It was because of your videos i started to draw more seriously.
I would love following along with all the steps and would continuously pause the videos just to keep up.
I'm now currently 22, in art school and trying to pursue art as a career.
Your channel has made such an impact on my life and on me as an artist.

It seems like every video I see people talking about how they haven't seen a Mark Crilley video in a long time and how they miss it. I'm glad, but I hope you stick around and share the videos with friends. Crilley deserves more regulars.

Pro tip Mark : in order to freely rotate a drawing without the hassle of tape removal, but still getting the benefits of having it taped down, use a clipboard, just make sure you find one with a small clip so it’s easier to reach all parts of the drawing ✍️

It's been said before, but the angular lines give me strong Tetsuya Nomura vibes. A lot of his characters across both Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts use super pointy shapes and pointy hair. Kinda neat that you mentioned curved lines being very Disney-esque, because it makes for an interesting contrast.

    • @emilysmith4213
      @emilysmith4213 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Yeah I grew up playing and watching Kingdom Hearts and it was the only anime looking thing I was allowed to watch for a long time. That’s why the characters with spiky styled hair stick out so much, in Disney everything is much more cartoonish and curved
      Also SoraXKairi Forever🤩🥰😭

It’s cool to see a video early!
I’m a gamer so the one with very straight lines reminds me of old polygon sprites and models! So the “cool” feeling to me comes from it reminding me of video games.
This character also reminds me of Aerith from Final Fantasy 7
It is interesting to see them side by side!
Mentioning the angular one possibly being a robot made me think if Megaman ha ha

GREAT VIDEO! if you look closely there are many mangas or artists that use one of this styles only! One of the best excempales is dragon ball i think. The older part of the story had mostly or almost only round lines and cute styles and the newer ones got the hard and straight lines and more adult style to it. Even if you draw the same stuff you really can give it another look with this

How do you change faces between characters? Every time I draw a face it always ends up looking like a repeat of the last one. I don't know why I can't get out of this pit of drawing the same face again and again, any tips?

    • @kittykitteh3747

It's a thing more artists struggle with. It's called same face syndrome (not kidding!) if you search with those words you should find more people that can help you

    • @lanzelet7386

Eyelash styles/eyeshapes, nose shapes, and eyebrow shapes are my go-to things to change! If you work in a style with visible lips, they can also vary wildly in shape. Find some photos of people and practice these features by themselves. Just draw a bunch of eyes or noses or lips.
If you own a version of The Sims it can be super fun to play around with face sliders to see how these individual parts can change!
I have my usual face style that I use to get proportions right but then I go back in and make a point to find unique facial features, such as one person having a round nose and one a pointed nose. It really helps to practice drawing features on their own to see how they really work in different shapes.

For girls I try to give them a shorter, thinner jawline and slightly bigger eyes. For guys I give them a generally wider jawline and slightly smaller eyes (can change depending on character traits) Eyelash thickness/shape can be changed, shape of the eyes/pupils/irises, expressions, and facial features can change everything.
For example I have two characters that are brothers who resemble each other very much, but there are significant differences. One has piercing blue eyes and straight spiky red hair and a scar on his cheek, while the other brother has warm brown eyes and curly red hair.
Subtle changes make a big difference

The farthest eye should only get thinner with the faces rotation, not shorter. You can play with perspective by just a simple straight on shouldnt have the far eye so much smaller

The straight line eyes are definitely making her look older than the curved eyes. The different hairs aren't really different enough, perhaps the straight line hair is more of a late teens-young adult style, while curved could be young or mature. The mouth and nose aren't straight or curved enough to tell a difference, you could swap them they are so similar.

How to go to heaven when you die.
    (The Gospel).
(John 3:16) For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son (Jesus), that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
(Ephesians 2:8-9) For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith (In Jesus as your savior)-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-not by works, so that no one can boast.
(Romans 4:5) However, to the one who does not work but trusts God (Jesus) who justifies the ungodly, their faith is credited as righteousness.
Trust in Jesus as your savior and you will be go heaven when you die. I pray that you trust in him and tell your family and friends as well.
