I am musically obsessed with this song. In the verse, the melody is in the key of D, the chords are in G. It's a rare and subtle technique that makes Tunde's vocal seem "dreamy", detached and you feel a slight tension. In the chorus the chords and melody recombine in D, which finally relieves the tension and makes you feel more relaxed! A brilliant piece of pop.

Possibly one of the greatest class acts of the 1990’s I unfortunately stopped listening to all the trash that was being served up during that decade but I must say The Lighthouse Family were a glowing light in a very dark time for music so I salute these guys for their quality music during that particularly bad time.

The 90s had some of the best genres and it was all mixed favorites like the Lighthouse Family, music back then was just great and I think everyone just loved radio stations as they played lots of genres now there all the same playlists every day
Although this song is about domestic abuse it is a an enduring song of hope. Bad times come and bad times go! Most of us survive and move on to find there’s an ‘Ocean Drive’ out there for all survivors.

I’m 34 and this song has locked in as a memory of being a kid in the car during the summer holidays with my mum driving my 3 older siblings and I off on an adventure of some sort. Every single day of those 6 weeks off school my mum pulled up to my dad’s burger van for lunch before taking us to various parks, swimming pools, beaches, etc. As adults, my siblings and I have created a Spotify playlist called “mums summer mix tape” and I often play it when I’m feeling nostalgic but nothing hits as hard as this one. What I’d give to go back in time

I started busking in '95. I used to play this in the late 90's. Really beautiful as was all of Lighthouse. Ive just been reading below comments. Its a reflective song, you shouldn't get depressed by it - it pulls on the heart strings but there's great hope in this song. This song brings back so many memories of how little I was back then in the 90's. Just love the lyrics and the beat for it is so uplifting to the soul.
Takes me back to the summer I left school. I'd just started a part-time job as a 16 year-old and was looking forward to starting college. Those years are a magical time where you have so much excitement/anticipation over what the future holds. You reach your mid 20's and this gradually, but rather quickly fades away where you become just another soul struggling to get through life. It's why this song is both warming and rather depressing to me.

Back then i was heavily into the rave scene, specifically proper hardcore gabber techno, regular in the techno room at diehard, but the lighthouse family, omg, his voice... fucking drives me crazy every time i hear Tunde sing, and this particular song just reminds me of holidays in whitby with my best friends, long hot summers, good vibes and such carefree awesome times, even more so during this pandemic era we find ourselves living with. So glad these two are making new music again, loved Blue Sky, such a beautiful album, it made this old fart feel young again =)
