Hey Ramya, I just managed to get this video while I was searching for help to drape Iyer Madisar. Being married to an Iyer, never learnt how to drape one...your video looks very interesting to learn, am surely doing to try out the way you have explained. You made it look very simple! Thank you!!
The look in the last step of draping is totally different than what is shown after editing the video in the end.. At least how to adjust that , could have been shown in the video which is the whole purpose of making this video..
actually if you have V SHAPE IN FRONT instead of straight down side you will feel more comfortable to walk plus the look will also be good. this is my experience of madisar ...
Yes...while my m-i-l was there she used to keep us in practice by getting us to tie 9-yards for Karadayan Nombu etc...now I was a bit out of touch and was going through various TH-cam videos to refresh my memory-- i found this to be the most quick and simple.
Hi Ramya, I am ur new subscriber. How r u & ur family members? U explained it very clearly how to drape 9 yards Iyer style madisar and the colour of the saree is beautiful. Useful video & thanks for sharing it. Take care all.
Sorry to barge in to somebody’s video and comment. You can go to the toilet without removing the saree. You need a bit of practice. You have to release/loosen the kacham( the part of the saree that runs between the 2 legs from the front to the back) from where it is inserted in the back. Loosening it will give you enough room to slide the kacham to one side by putting one leg through the kacham in such a way that no saree part is in between the legs. This is how my paati told me. She wore this type of saree all her life and did not remove the entire saree each time to go to the toilet. Another easy part for them were they did not have any inner garment. The kacham served that purpose.
But that kacham that goes behind is so long. In toilet , you got to hold and bring it in front while kacham and do your toilet stuff? Poor ladies in olden times…

Hi ma, As a senior I want to say, that after first mudichu at front, the next step what you r doing is not correct.
Very correct the look of the madisaar is not right. We should have the V shape in front.

How to manage this type of saree if you need to go to toilet ?
We can’t, we have to remove it completely
