James Lochmann - Aloha John and crew, with the disappointments of The Boba Fett and Obi Wan shows, Andor has consistently week after week given me my Star Wars fix and episode 10 was no different, Andy Serkis performance was great! And it’s wonderful to watch Stellan Skarsgard every time he’s onscreen. And hats off to Tony Gilroy, because of what happened to the prisoners in last weeks episode, he’s got me looking at the Empire in an even more evil and sinister light. What did you think of the latest episode? Thanks and BOTF!

Luthen’s private speech this episode 10 was some of the BEST dialogue I have ever heard in Star Wars (best acting as well) it stated & implied so much; even timeline to the trauma that brought them there, yet left us with even more questions about him and his past

IMO Luthen’s monologue was THE greatest piece of writing in the HISTORY of Star Wars, and after maybe 10 moments in the entirety of the Star Trek franchise, THE best writing in ALL OF filmed sci-fi.

See.. look what that monologue did to your perception.. think back to Saw Gerrera and his talk with Luthen .. now you really GET it. The price saw had to pay, fighting the Empire ..he's rash, illogical, paranoid..probably insane ..and you get it. I grew up thinking that fighting the Empire was swashbuckling battles and heroic rescues and laser blasts and adventure .. its HELL a nightmare from HELL.

Luthen's speech was incredible. The writing, the delivery, award worthy.
Andor is definitely the DS9 of Star Wars. Luthen's speech really reminds me of another amazing monologue, "So I lied, I cheated, I bribed men to cover the crimes of other men. I am an accessory to murder. But the most damning thing of all, I think I can live with it. And if I had to do it all over again, I would. Garak was right about one thing. A guilty conscience is a small price to pay for the safety of the Alpha Quadrant, so I will learn to live with it. Because I can live with it. I can live with it."

It just makes you proud of the all the groups of people throughout history who have chose to stand up and fight rather than submit to tyranny, Ukrainians included. Great speech.

Andor is some of the best Star Wars media we have had on screen. In my opinion, it surpasses The Mandalorian even. I could write an entire article in the comments about the quality of this show, but I've done that in too many other threads already lmao. Simply put, the world building, the characters, the gravity, the acting, writing, compositions, music, its all on point, all given extreme thought and care, this show is in another league.

"I share my dreams with ghosts" I had to stop the show after the monologue and watch it all over again. Amazing. It literally made the sequel trilogy look even worse, where the creators think fans need constant action and light saber battles to be entertained and very little dialogue. Andor demonstrates that you can have Star Wars without loading up on Jedi and Sith and lightstabers and the Force and pew-pew-pew! all the time. Andor is Star Wars for adults, with the best dialogue and acting since... as far as I can remember from Star Wars. Also, credit to the creators of Dedra Meero for showing us the evil part of the Empire that doesn't have to be from the Dark Side of the Force. With giants like Andy Serkis and Stellan Skarsgard, stellar performances from Diego Luna and Denise Gough get forgotten, but they deserve a ton of credit, too.

@@darrel7589 the jedi and sith are all the same right now lmao. Luke in the book of boba is repeating the same mistake the Jedi did in the prequel trilogy. If you think andor is basic, you haven't watched the other Star Wars shows. Obi-wan and mando are both about taking care of a lame child that eventually ruined both shows. Obi-wan was a watered-down version of fallen order and the force unleashed. No one in mando also had a good backstory. Grogu's backstory was easily predictable and Mando being rescued by other Mandalorians is easily the most generic backstory I've ever seen. That's already been done too much in Star Wars. Andor's characters having no backstory makes it work. Everyone is mysterious. The dialogue in mando is also pretty bland. Stellan Skarsgard is better than any performance done in the Mandalorian, and every other Star Wars series. Giancarlo Esposito was really good, but due to the mediocre directing, he wasn't that great. Tony Gilroy would've done him more justice. In the end, the Mandalorian tries too hard to be emotional and it treats itself as a masterpiece, but it really isn't. It's pretentious and wasted potential. Andor takes itself more seriously with a better cast, phenomenal writers, and beautiful directing. I will respect your opinion, even if it's wrong.

    Spoiler
“Calm. Kindness. Kinship. Love. I’ve given up all chance at inner peace. I’ve made my mind a sunless space. I share my dreams with ghosts. I wake up every day to an equation I wrote 15 years ago from which there’s only one conclusion, I’m damned for what I do. My anger, my ego, my unwillingness to yield, my eagerness to fight, they’ve set me on a path from which there is no escape. I yearned to be a savior against injustice without contemplating the cost and by the time I looked down there was no longer any ground beneath my feet.
    What is my sacrifice?
I’m condemned to use the tools of my enemy to defeat them. I burn my decency for someone else’s future. I burn my life to make a sunrise that I know I’ll never see. And the ego that started this fight will never have a mirror or an audience or the light of gratitude.
    So what do I sacrifice?

The writing from Gilroy, and both the acting from Skarsgard and Gough just steal the show every time they are on screen even though the other cast is incredible too. This show is an absolute masterpiece like you say. I almost can't handle the fact that its ending. I feel like Denise Gough plays a villian a lot like Thomas Ian Griffith does in Cobra Kai in the sense that every time they are on screen my attention is so direct towards them. They both play incredible villains. I want more from Gough for sure. I was upset she wasn't in this episode but it did not need her either. Stellan is just on another level. I really do not know what else can be done to top this. I do think that monologue with Stellan was the best I have ever seen hands down in Star Wars. The episode before that with Gough was also really good during the interrogation. I want to see Denise with a Grand Admiral Thrawn and with Ben playing Krennic eventually. The monologs in episode 10 are on par with some of the best on TV since Tyrion's trial in GOT. Lutian's monolog is so epic, it puts the stakes so high for all of the people in the Galaxy, the price that is paid to end the Empire's oppression, the cost of actually getting Luke next to his father and in front of The Emporer so great, that it makes me hate the absolutely terrible sequels we got even more, if that is even possible. Essentially those 3 sequels will make all these hardships null and void within a generation and that is a damn shame if they remain cannon.

I dont think luthen speech is on par with tyion's trial (games of throne peak for me). But the emotions and satisfaction (i like good storytelling) this last arc of andor makes me feel reminds me of the first GOT seasons. And it's not finish.

It's an excellent episode. My favorite of the series so far. For me it had been dragging for the previous two episodes, so this was a welcome adrenaline injection.

The use of the term “One way out” gave me chills every time. Serkis’ monologue got me so amped, had me nearly in tears. Serkis’ performance is just other worldly. Also I think Diego Luna’s acting is going under appreciated here. Andy and Stellan are obviously phenomenal, but Luna is also amazing

Just saw the episode. I slept on the show til recently. This show is amazing and criminally slept on. I think the subpar nature of Boba Fett and Obi Wan ruined the faith I had in Star Wars. This blew me away.

I can't believe how much I'm loving this show. After so many lies and back stabbing, Disney is finally doing something great. Andor is a master piece. This is the way, the only one way out. 😎

I held off from watching last week so I could do a double-feature tonight. So glad I did. This show is incredible.
It would be difficult but I'm thinking about watching the final two both at once when they have released.

I feel like Kino was subtly struggling to overcome the detachment one would feel knowing its the end of the line for them. Whats interesting is when a character like that is in a leadership role. He looks to Cassian to overcome it and finally does as he repeats Cassians words during that speach. That was poetic and haunting, and you as a vewer only evoke that layer at the end - as he smiles. Love this stuff so much

6:02 Oh my god. I just realized something about that line:
I am still under the impression that Luthen will die in this series (before Rogue One) because he is nowhere to be seen in it or the OT.
So, I think the Sunrise could be interpreted as the arrival of light and Hope. And the beginning of real hope against the Empire was Rogue One and the Battle of Scarif, the first battle the Rebellion thought together against the Empire and won (we can't count the Battle on Lothal because while it did probably give people hope it was not the Rebel Alliance, the network Luthen helped build) who thought in the Battle). And if this connection isn't good enough (because if you think about it he is literally referencing the final act of Rogue One here) the last shot of the Crew who brought this sunset which included Andor was against the blinding light of the destruction by the Deathstar, which at least to me always (even before hearing this line) looked like a sunrise
