Due to the fact this is a poker coach ad video, I will guess Chris Brewer has the winning hand. No idea if the hand is "strong" (sets) or "weak" (4s) but I will guess he has the winner.

In Jason's defense, the only real hands he should be concerned with are KK and Ac4c (maybe 44). No other hand makes sense to play the way that Brewer played it, and certainly no other hand is going to beat him. I think I would have done the same and can't fault him for running into the Kings lol.

    We know Brewer:
    - made a big pre-flop raise (which the commentators seem to indicate he was doing consistently)
    - c-bet small
    - called a small turn lead
This gives us very little information about his hand. I think we can rule out 89s (wouldn't have raised), KK & 77 (would have raised the turn), so the key hands that have us beat are a 4, most likely A4s. But would he have raised with that? I'm assuming my 66 is well ahead, and betting large for value, hoping Brewer has a King with a good kicker, and will call me down.

In the setup, would be helpful to know who is still "standing" (or, more precisely, who still has their "stand up" button) AND how many players are still standing and what position they have.
If Jason is among the last standing, Chris' 20BB raise makes more sense, because Jason is highly incentivized to stay in the pot, so he can potentially win the hand and avoid the last-standing penalty. In the converse, if neither have their stand up buttons, Chris' big raise makes less sense (unless button holders remain to his left). With buttons not in play, Chris should play this like a regular hand -- and 20x is far too much to raise with KK.

Set over set. Nothing one can do. It was AK/AA/KK. Jason has more combos for value. Sometimes you just get stacked. Rebuy and move on - straight forward hand. Surprised at the 20x pre flop raise though

  • @newstandardaccount

When I saw the massive raise I thought "Aces through Queens, AK, and maybe some nonsense like A5s"
Even with the King on the flop, the odds that he has AK are almost 3x higher than that he has pocket kings (assuming Brewer would play AKo like this).
If you think he only plays AKs like this you still probably have to bet but you're a bit more worried.

I think they both played it bad pre-flop. 20 times the BB usually chases all your action away. But calling with 66 is even worse. The 66 calling makes the 20X raise look good. The ending wasn't that shocking. You're always a little shocked with set over set, because it's kinda rare.

I wasn't going to say anything but I feel like this is overly clickbaity. The only semi interesting points of this hand imo are that it's a big pot from Triton, the bigger open pre, and the 66 lead on the turn, other than that it seems like a very standard cooler. Am I missing something? I get that this might be entertainment oriented, it just seems like 10mins for set over set is kind of a lot. Generally like your content fwiw, and happy it is a fun hand to watch I just wonder if there's a different format possible like maybe a 20-30min video recapping bigger pots from Triton or something instead of trying to glean strategy from a spot where there really isn't much.

@@zeebags9885 It was less putting him on KK then thinking more about w 66 do we ever XF/ and if not then does XC or jam work better. The point I got to before cards got turned over (especially after JK jams and before Brewer calls) was that it was probably just a cooler and hoping it wasn't, or that at least brew had A4cc or something and JK wasn't setup on basically every runout from the flop.

Given that Chris 3-bet pre flop, c-bet the flop, and continued when the turn hit Jason's range, it is very safe to assume that there are no bluffs currently in Chris's range.

The first time I played the stand up game was at the lodge on stream in 5/10/25 although the 50 was almost always on. I played the round how I would normally play and the first round and was second to last to sit down and would have had to pay everyone at the table $50. I have to admit I never did any research or studying as to how to play the standup game because I didn’t know it was always done on stream. The second time around I was the second one to sit down. I am by no means an expert in the stand up game, but I was watching other peoples ranges and how they were betting and playing on the first time around. I just applied that when I played the second time around. It definitely entices action, no doubt about that.

I actually guessed it. I think a 20BB per flop raise is great because the standup game gives you a wider range and you’ll get more calls from wider ranges that wanna win the standup game. I can rule out AK and AA on the turn because those would probably wanna 3bet but with 2 KK as removal brewer must know that koon is likely betting a draw which will probably bluff river or a made premium which is going to get it all in by river. Nice plays.

I didn’t answer before seeing but I called KK. Brewer knew koon had 55 or 66 and played it perfectly. For the same reason in your opening statement about 66 in a standup game. I had 3 hands in mind
78 of diamonds or spades. 33 crossed my mind but then I realized this isn’t my game these are the best in the world!! 78 suited isn’t raising in a standup for same reason 55 or 66 isn’t raising, and 33 isn’t for same reason. has to be KK! Side note 33 doesn’t beat him into the pot BTW but we knew it wasn’t 33 beforehand!

Apologies for changing the subject but I can't seem to reach you any other way. The scandal I'd like to cover is the update on the Robbie and Garrett/Hustler. If she gave the money back and everyone who plays poker knows she cheated, Why is the community accepting her back into poker? She is announcing the sunday millions. I saw. Her and played a few events against her at thunder valley this last series And she even Won an event. Why is the community even letting her play? I also hear Mike.Postle is playing some events. I was one of the players cheated by him. Why aren't players like this banned permanently? It's not right and we need to keep and get more Integrity, character, ethics and class into poker. It's a great game and I love it.And i've had some great recent success. I'd like to see stricter punishments for players who cheat. Why so quick to forgive and forget? Again, just doesn't seem right.
