You can't compare something like Fast and furious or an action film to a drama short, But if you compare 90% of the drama's in hollywood, they are jsut as good(and also set up the ground work for short films like this) Then you have films like 1917-Literally filmed the entire thing to look like one continuous shot. So i understand the Emotional argument "Hollywood is mainstream, and mainstream is bad", but its just that..an emotional argument not grounded in reality.

The acting was so believable. Nowadays......that's rare. The old man is lonely. There are lots of them. It's sad how through life you keep "making your bed the same way" without realizing you got to lie in it everyday and you could've been happy....made others happy. But no.....this isn't realized until the end.....when you are cold and alone. Great story telling.
It's odd isn't it? How the young and the old while drifting apart every day have more in common in the way they live their lifes? How you may be young or old, at your prime or evening and yet in the end? It's all the same. Not to all of cause but to enough. What a lonely world a lot of us live in.

Most people are not in love with who they are...especially the old people. Any good person can die young and 'happy'. Try growing old and mistake free and 'happy. Life is about speaking truth. Reminded me of my native language. It has many words to describe objects and scenery, but it lumps up different feelings into very narrow vocabulary. Even the poets of the olden days had to use sceneries to describe their feeling.

I dispense with the reconciliation screen for that reason. My parish also has a reconciliation room where the penitent is in the same room as the confessor. I can understand the desire for the anonymity of a screen, but boy howdy is there a connection face to face.
WOW Omeleto. I could never have imagined I'd be interested in such a plot until this. The story, acting and mood were all crafted perfectly. Giant accolades to everyone involved, especially those two actors - but everybody involved can feel rightly proud. This one is exceptional.
I'd recommend Alfred Hitchcock's "I Confess" and "Calvary" directed by John Michael McDonagh. Great films about a priest given a revelation in the confessional.
I am pretty new to Omeleto as well (a couple weeks or so. TH-cam committed a kind act by putting this channel in my recommendations.). This channel is a big reason why I don't think I will ever have cable again. The content is far superior to what is on television (and to most of what is released in movie theaters). I want to know more of this story. How does the Catholic priest deal with all that he knows? Does the sick guy tell his son the truth? Did the son always have a feeling that something was off, even though he appeared content on the surface? Did the priest sleep with the sick guy's wife? I could go on and on....
@@rikuheagle7648 The priest didn't sleep with his wife, as far as I saw. He just drove a wedge between the couple by encouraging her belief that her husband was a sinful man and that was the reason she couldn't have children with him.

In the beginning the other man also emphasise how much the woman came to church. Theres also the line "he grew up as a fine man without your guidance" this doesnt make sense for the brothers son because he knew it already, and would not sting as much as his own son. In the end the camera was still on the priest for a moment, he was contemplating his sins Also "you reap what you sow 15 years ago" i mean..he directing the line to the priest. The priest slept with his wife, out of loneliness, the man slept with the priests brothers wife.
I'm really enjoying the catalog of short films in this series. I haven't seen a bad one yet. These mostly unknown actors are incredible! Every role masterfully done.
This was Movie level storytelling. Even the few seconds of camera holding at the end told a world of story... Shorts like these with a low budget are absolutely rare.

Pretty sure there's a verse saying "speak the truth with love." The confessor has a point in speaking the truth, but his hatred is self-centered and destructive.
I disagree. The truth should be concealed if the circumstances call for it. Of course this guy had no interest in confessions or the truth. He just knew he had an ace up his sleeve to take revenge on the world for his dying. I'd like to imagine he dropped dead just as he exited the scene

This is extremely well well made. I would never think a cinematic short only located in the church with three charcters could be that much well made. From the expressions to the dialogue, this is a masterpiece!

that's because they are Irish actors...google Francis macGee he played Yoren in GoT and many other films and Phelim Drew was in the film The Committments and others.
Being raised like that in rural Ireland makes this whole thing hit so close to home. Not to mention he acting plot and everything else about this film is so amazing.
The plots and twists in many of these shorts kinda' makes one feel a bit deprived. These are so good that one always longs for a bigger story and a longer film. This one in particular was a super interesting and engaging story...so much so that I would love to see that back story and other characters. Why isn't this at least 2 hours and 20 minutes?!
I'm not sure about all what happened. Evidently the priest is some how tied into the sin that the bearded guy ( the man who confessed ) comitted which was an adulterous relationship. Can anyone explain to me how and how does the priest feel threatened in all this ? I'm a little confused. Thank you
@@mikekaroules2820 The priest is threatened because the love child of that adulterous relationship is his nephew (sort of). He thought he was his nephew but he really isn't because the kid is actually the son of the confessor, not the priest's brother, as had believed for 14 years! So, the priest feels threatened because the confessor is dying of cancer and wants to tell the truth before he dies. The priest believes the confessor's dying confession to the community would ruin the kid's life, so he feels threatened. So, he's basically trying to protect the boy from the harm the confessor's public declaration could do to the kid.

This is actual the best short film I've ever seen. The suspense is great, the acting is really good, and the writing is fantastic. All around an amazing short film
The definition of art. There are movies I have seen that isn't worth the ticket it was printed on and yet quality like this is free. I hope that this team are rewarded with another project that is as great as this with the recognition they deserve.
Micheal is one of the best actors around, he is on a different level. He is so good it's absurd and needs to be working constantly. If he is not, then real talent in the industry is not appreciated.
This is an absolute master class of dramatic acting and incredible story telling. In less then 20 minutes the creators of this actually got me to care and have legitimate interest in the lives of these two men
I believe he was referring to the fact that every person would lose an eye to the people they wronged. All people have wronged more than one person, so I guess that would cause everyone’s eyes to be gone. Meaning everyone would be blind. That’s my interpretation

That was incredible. Most of the film in a confession chamber. That last line... "you can have God's forgiveness but you can't have mine" soo powerful.
this might just be THE most intensive scene i have ever watched, i would compare it to the opening scene from inglorious bastards but even more gritty and real. perfect use of music and lack-off music
The scene from inglorious basterds was good because of the excellent tension buildup, Keeping the audience on their toes as to what will happen next. Both are great in their own right This is amazing because of its masterful play on emotions, and leaving the audience to speculate with the puzzle peices, making theories, and constructing their own ideas Before assembling it all together in seconds.
What purpose would that serve? His father is the man that raised,who cares who his biological father is? It would devastate the boy and both of his parents ,it would destroy the whole family, and make them outcasts. If he cared about the boy at all,he wouldn't do it. He doesn't care about the boy having a chance to know his real father, the only reason he wants to reveal all this is to humiliate the priest.
There are so many layers going on here, the acting is absolutely top notch. You can see him being satisfied about getting back at the priest, then he feels the pain of what hurt it would cause his son, then the despair of his boy never knowing that he was the father and on and on. Bloody brilliant.
Unfortunately, your 'needs' are not reality. Simply the desire for order, control and something after the finale' of death. Those are your needs, and your illusion of god meets those figurative needs.
This was absolutely superb. A real powerful commentary on where the line blurs between the sacred and the human. It's easy to be a vessel for religious teachings... not so easy to apply them to your own life.
This was incredible. I can't believe how well this was played out. I actually became immersed in this entire setting just through this one interaction between two characters.
The photography is like a Carrvaggio. As a practicing Catholic I accept our history is stained and ridden with horrors. This is a brilliant drama on so many levels.
So well acted. The dilemma is believable. Life can be messy. This dilemma is also presented to the audience to reflect on. While understanding the trauma this would cause to the boy and his family, I can also understand the sick man’s point of view. Excellent short.
That was intense. It really goes to show, budget a good movie doesn't make. It covers the bases, but the quality is made by the people who aim for the sky.

Great Acting by both men. The craziness that one man/priest can pardon you for your sins is highlighted very well here. Always thought it was ridiculous!
Oh man, these are great! I much prefer these to full length Hollywood films. I actually prefer them to full length features even if they are independent. These scripts and their twists and stellar acting pack quite a bunch when compressed to minutes and not a couple of hours. BRAVO!
He should take responsibility for his life and not just blame it on the priest. I'm not even christian, but it's annoying to see someone blame another for his failed marriage.
What was it he did wrong in his marriage it seemed to me the wife was the problem and spent more time with the priest than her husband and the priest didn't help in the situation neither .

This is how you do a low budget short film. One stage. 3 people. And good/heartfelt/convincing acting with a good storyline.
The transition between "Father" & "sinner" in how they slowly switch roles as this story progresses is BRILLIANT. ✌🌙

This is extremely well well made. I would never think a cinematic short only located in the church with three charcters could be that much well made. From the expressions to the dialogue, this is a masterpiece!

The acting on this film was stunning.
The plots and twists in many of these shorts kinda' makes one feel a bit deprived. These are so good that one always longs for a bigger story and a longer film. This one in particular was a super interesting and engaging story...so much so that I would love to see that back story and other characters. Why isn't this at least 2 hours and 20 minutes?!

I'm not sure about all what happened. Evidently the priest is some how tied into the sin that the bearded guy ( the man who confessed ) comitted which was an adulterous relationship. Can anyone explain to me how and how does the priest feel threatened in all this ? I'm a little confused. Thank you
@@mikekaroules2820 The priest is threatened because the love child of that adulterous relationship is his nephew (sort of). He thought he was his nephew but he really isn't because the kid is actually the son of the confessor, not the priest's brother, as had believed for 14 years! So, the priest feels threatened because the confessor is dying of cancer and wants to tell the truth before he dies. The priest believes the confessor's dying confession to the community would ruin the kid's life, so he feels threatened. So, he's basically trying to protect the boy from the harm the confessor's public declaration could do to the kid.

Now , actually should the confessor come out with this news - the young lad would not be the only one who might get devestated. It could wreak havok on that whole family , all 3 of them. What a mess.
This is actual the best short film I've ever seen. The suspense is great, the acting is really good, and the writing is fantastic. All around an amazing short film
The definition of art. There are movies I have seen that isn't worth the ticket it was printed on and yet quality like this is free. I hope that this team are rewarded with another project that is as great as this with the recognition they deserve.
Micheal is one of the best actors around, he is on a different level. He is so good it's absurd and needs to be working constantly. If he is not, then real talent in the industry is not appreciated.

This is an absolute master class of dramatic acting and incredible story telling. In less then 20 minutes the creators of this actually got me to care and have legitimate interest in the lives of these two men

I believe he was referring to the fact that every person would lose an eye to the people they wronged. All people have wronged more than one person, so I guess that would cause everyone’s eyes to be gone. Meaning everyone would be blind. That’s my interpretation

That was incredible. Most of the film in a confession chamber. That last line... "you can have God's forgiveness but you can't have mine" soo powerful.

this might just be THE most intensive scene i have ever watched, i would compare it to the opening scene from inglorious bastards but even more gritty and real. perfect use of music and lack-off music
The scene from inglorious basterds was good because of the excellent tension buildup, Keeping the audience on their toes as to what will happen next.
Both are great in their own right
This is amazing because of its masterful play on emotions, and leaving the audience to speculate with the puzzle peices, making theories, and constructing their own ideas Before assembling it all together in seconds.

That was some very good dialog. And I'm sure that scenario happens a lot more than we think
The boy deserves to know the truth about his real father. Let him react how he wants and choose who he wants as his dad.
What purpose would that serve? His father is the man that raised,who cares who his biological father is? It would devastate the boy and both of his parents ,it would destroy the whole family, and make them outcasts. If he cared about the boy at all,he wouldn't do it. He doesn't care about the boy having a chance to know his real father, the only reason he wants to reveal all this is to humiliate the priest.
There are so many layers going on here, the acting is absolutely top notch. You can see him being satisfied about getting back at the priest, then he feels the pain of what hurt it would cause his son, then the despair of his boy never knowing that he was the father and on and on. Bloody brilliant.
Twisted. So human. As a minister I can say, life is just this twisted in deed. It's why I need there to be a God.

This was absolutely superb. A real powerful commentary on where the line blurs between the sacred and the human. It's easy to be a vessel for religious teachings... not so easy to apply them to your own life.
This was incredible. I can't believe how well this was played out. I actually became immersed in this entire setting just through this one interaction between two characters.

The photography is like a Carrvaggio. As a practicing Catholic I accept our history is stained and ridden with horrors. This is a brilliant drama on so many levels.

So well acted. The dilemma is believable. Life can be messy. This dilemma is also presented to the audience to reflect on. While understanding the trauma this would cause to the boy and his family, I can also understand the sick man’s point of view. Excellent short.

Oh man, these are great! I much prefer these to full length Hollywood films. I actually prefer them to full length features even if they are independent. These scripts and their twists and stellar acting pack quite a bunch when compressed to minutes and not a couple of hours. BRAVO!

He should take responsibility for his life and not just blame it on the priest. I'm not even christian, but it's annoying to see someone blame another for his failed marriage.
What was it he did wrong in his marriage it seemed to me the wife was the problem and spent more time with the priest than her husband and the priest didn't help in the situation neither .
Wow, that was really down to earth. So much more relatable than some of the other movies on this channel. Just 2 men, 1 talking openly about his problems and how it effects the other, and the other listening, but not silently.
