Agree. This should be our national Anthem. Instead of "girt by sea" young and free. 2019 Australia is not the country I was born and grew up in, with all the refugees it's no longer the happy go free safe lucky country.

He just seems to love performing and clearly gets a buzz from relating to his audience.

You may have noticed the crowds in our awards ceremonies are a little more animated
In the audience at video point 3:32 is Glenn Wheatley with his hand on his wife's shoulder/
Wheatley is Farnham's friend and manager. Wheatley had been the bass player in an earlier Aussie band; The Masters Apprentices. When he left that band he went into music management.
John Farnham was a long-standing feature in the music industry here... known as Johnny Farnham. He and Wheatley became good mates.
Farnham spent time as the frontman of The Little River Band before wanting to do his own thing.
Wheatley financed the album - what would become "Whispering Jack" by putting his own house into hock.
"Whispering Jack" - which features "You're the Voice" was a massive commercial success and he got repaid the money many times over. He had put his money up to back his mate and it paid off

As we came out into the parking area with the horse floats, he let me tie my horse to his trailer as I didn’t have a trailer of my own. He had told me his name was John, it wasn’t till very late that day after he left, that I learned his full name was John Farnham. I was so shocked, I grew up on his songs, my dad was a fan, yet he was so down to earth and humble that I just didn’t recognise him.

Hey just came across this today and I remembered see this live.
So you know John turned 70 this year and I took my daughter to see him last year and he still sings this good. He is just amazing. He also sang this song with Coldplay (They wanted to sing with him) and Celine Dion is a huge fan of him ( there is clips of them singing together as well).

There was a lot of aussie talent in that room which the camera went over. I reckon you will like Marcia Hines and her daughter Deni. Marcia was born in America but came here in her early teens and made her career here. Now considered one of our greatest aussie singers. Her rich deep voice is gorgeous to listen to.

Greetings again from down under! To offer a little context to this clip, John Farnham is an Aussie music legend and this was the number 1 song from his 1986 album "Whispering Jack" and is an Aussie staple (you cannot help but sing along). He is performing here at The ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Association) Awards, so many of the crowd in the clip are Australian music identities.
As a stagehand at the very first ARIA's I met him back stage and he is such a likable and humble person. I've also seen him live in concert several times and he truly loves and appreciates his audience (going so far as to have the houselights turned up so he can see the crowd singing along)
He did a duet with Olivia Newton John at his "Main Event" concert and I would love to see your reaction to their song "Please Don't Ask Me"
Once again, all the best MRM and keep those reaction clips coming!

When John was 70 they didn’t have to change his music at all. He sounded just like that. He is now 72. I loved that you had a blonde couple standing in that video. That was his friend and manager Glenn Wheatley with his wife Gaynor. When no one in America or here would make John’s album whispering Jack. Glenn mortgaged his home to do it. When no one would play it Glenn didn’t give up until the people heard it and demanded it was played. It stayed at number one for 26 weeks. Not even Michael Jackson could move it. That song was the last song put on that album.
John and Glenn have always been family to us all. A week ago we lost Glenn to complications from Covid. I don’t think John will sing again and that is our loss but I will understand why.

I reckon you would love Marcia Hines and her daughter Deni. Marcia is an American singer that moved to Australia permanently at 16 and made her name and career here. Just as much an Aussie icon as John and others. You see her next to her daughter numerous times in this clip clapping, singing and dancing along. God she has an equally very powerful voice and amazing range, but she holds back majority of the time. There are only a few times she has let rip with her full range. Beautiful woman inside and out with the classic australian outlook and attitude to life.
