What makes Stinky Pete a good twist villain are these 2 things:
    1. After his reveal, there’s still enough time left in the movie for his villainy to affect the plot.
    2. His seemingly altruistic actions take on a more selfish light, once his villainy is revealed.

In the Mind of a Villain summed up why Stinky Pete is a villain perfectly. He forces his worldview onto those who don’t share it and doesn’t take their feelings into consideration when he takes action. It’s all about him and what he thinks is best for everyone else. While he may have good intentions behind his actions, it doesn’t change the fact that he’s a selfish individual, who wants things his way, no matter how other people react.

He's my favorite toy story villian. Stinky Pete legit convinced you that he was this disabled toy that never got bought and when they're all dancing, it's legit heart warming. And then he shifts because he's so close to finally getting what he thinks is happiness

    • @speedracer2008
      @speedracer2008 ปีที่แล้ว

@@mania4270 Unfortunately, Stinky Pete was too blinded by the chance to be appreciated by many that he chose to take it at the expense of everyone else. Never ONCE did he consider the feelings of Woody, Jessie, and Bullseye regarding this opportunity. That's why he's the villain.

@@speedracer2008 he's also the best sneak villian Disney has ever done. Disney has tried to do the sneak villian thing after and never got it right. You really feel for Stinky Pete. I remember being a kid and after he goes evil, I found him quite scary. But it's poetic, he spent his entire life on a shelf being ignored and by going to Japan, he would be spending his entire life again, behind glass, only difference is that he finally has the appreciation he wanted

6:22, he’s a great villain. I do think that the fact he was well-received in Toy Story 2 led to Pixar becoming overly reliant on plot twist villains (Warp Darkmatter, Waternoose, Auto, Charles Muntz, Lotso, Axelrod, de la Cruz, Screenslaver, Jim Brolin’s version of Zurg) which is something I do think has been bad for Pixar in the long run. But within Toy Story 2, he was a good villain

My favourite scene with the Prospector has to be this bit:
Stinky Pete: It's too late, Woody! That silly Buzz Lightweight can't help it!
Woody: *angry* HIS NAME IS BUZZ LIGHTYEAR!
Not only does it showcase Stinky Pete's hatred of space toys in general, but it showcases a parallel to Woody in the first movie. When Woody first met Buzz, he was constantly insulting him (even misnaming him on purpose) and being downright malicious in some scenes (trying to knock Buzz behind the desk, anyone?).
But now, Buzz is Woody's best friend. Woody is essentially looking at what he could have become... and he hates it. This comes back again when Stinky Pete attacks Buzz, and Woody has lost all sense of rationality, getting his arm ripped again.
Speaking of which, as I'm typing this now, that's a good parallel to what happens during Andy's playtime. Andy has Woody and Buzz do the handshake and accidentally rips Woody's arm. Woody is understandably upset to miss Cowboy Camp, be he also doesn't hold anything against Buzz because he knows that isn't his fault. In the climax of the film, Woody has his arm ripped again by Stinky Pete deliberately, because he was *defending* Buzz. Man... the more I think about this movie, the more brilliant I realise it is.

I don't believe he ever WAS a villain at any point, ESPECIALLY in light of what we know now.
His lot in life was thrust upon him, and he was actively trying to make the best of his own situation. He doesn't really know Woody, he has no particular reason to care-- and the only life experience he knows tells him the guy is full of shit anyway.
Not only that, but self interested or not, his plan actively brought others along with him to fill very similar positions. Jessy didn't know anything but abandonment and a box-- as far as she was concerned, it would've been a massive improvement!
Sure, Woody provided her a BETTER viable option, but the prospector's plan was NOT in anyway an actively bad or evil one.
Now, if because he was self centered, he somehow decided he wanted to see Jessy and Bullseye hurt or tortured, threatened or killed-- that's another matter.
But he wanted what he wanted, and it meant a better life for the others. Selfish or not, that is not villainous.
In his own eyes and from his own point of view, he even has every reason to finally resort to threatening and harming Woody. Woody wanted the life that Woody wanted, and he HIMSELF would do almost anything to get it-- how is the Prospector any different just because he happens to finally get pissed off by the end?
The guy doesn't just want others to suffer-- he wants a better life for HIMSELF, AND HE HAS AN ACTUAL, LEGITIMATE CLAIM TO IT.

This right here is exactly what I've been saying this whole time actually, I find it hard to see anything evil about Stinky Pete. If anything I'd argue that he was fighting for a noble cause because he was wise enough to know that kids eventually outgrow their toys and could potentially throw them away, and we all know what happens to trash. Yeah Stinky Pete really was just looking out for those on his side and wanted a better future for them and himself

I think what it is about Stinky Pete is that he can't be cool and enjoy himself like how Buzz Lightyear and the others can, plus he resents his popularity as kids just see him as a boring old man with an axe as opposed to a younger, cool spaceman with state of the art gadgets and cool phrases.
He's like a granddad at a teenage party and he doesn't understand the thing of being cool and fun to kids like how all the other characters do.
He doesn't like the fact that he's always in the twilight while Buzz Lightyear is always in the limelight.
It's like a Rover next to a Lamborghini. Which 1 do you think a kid is gonna be attracted to?
Yes Stinky Pete is logical in the way that he sees rules and regulations and thinks he's saying and doing the right things, but on the other hand, most people see that as uncool and stuffy.
Whereas Buzz Lightyear and the others know how to party and appeal to kids in the way they can make jokes and say cool phrases. They have more energy about them and that appeals to most people as people want fun and entertainment.
Plus the thing of going to space would appeal to most kids as they see it as exciting.

Toy Story 5 is completely unnecessary and it will never be necessary at all, but that doesn't mean it's impossible to make Toy Story 5 a decent sequel, at least in my opinion. One big event that I would love to see happen in Toy Story 5, is that Stinky Pete meets Lotso, they both tell each other backstories about their villainous arcs, and then decide to team-up together by trying to find Andy's old toys (most of who belong to Bonnie now) and get revenge on Woody & Friends. I want Toy Story 5 to be full of action with many characters taking preparation time to fight as they have a war between Heroes & Villains. Then eventually, maybe (just maybe) Lotso could end up betraying Stinky Pete or vice-versa, despite neither of them reaching their redemptions yet, and while we're at it, I'd love for Andy to find out that his former toys were actually alive his whole life, Andy freaks out at first glance but then after he eventually gets used to it, Adult Andy teams-up with Bonnie's Toys (who used to be Andy's back when he was a child) in a quest to find both Woody and Bo Beep, and just by an optional extension, I'd love to see Sid make a short cameo (at the very least), with Sid already having redeemed himself from toy-abuse, preferably enough.
All those suggestions that I listed are most of the very few possible ways that I can think of to make Toy Story 5 work/worthy, but that doesn't mean Toy Story 5 is necessary! It never has been necessary (and never will be), we didn't even need Toy Story 4, let alone a 5th, but since it's already too late to reverse the decision of creating Toy Story 5 into existence, the very least that Disney/Pixar could do now is to give TS5 a really good script, which I really hope (but won't expect) that it will happen! Let's not get our hopes too far high up, though.
Sorry for my comment being this long, but don't worry: that's already all I have to say for now, so period.

I know that sometimes it’s not the popularity of the character is just how rare, they are to find so the prospector alone could’ve been worth a good penny probably not as much as the whole set but the fact that he was mint condition, he would’ve been worth something
