My 2015 Dodge Journey V6 3.6 l shaking when accelerating in drive and making a knocking sound what could it be could it be the timing chain let me know
I wanna thank you guys I just did this on my dad's dodge without this video I wouldn't be able to do it it's Oct 2022 I really appreciate it thank you
Thank you for not editing when having trouble getting things out we need to know things may need extra work too many videos make things look simple and it isn't so thanks for that
I just want to say "Thank you" to you guys! I have a 2014 Journey V6 R/T and several of your videos have been extremely helpful for me! Yesterday I was having a "misfire on cylinder 1" causing the car to shake when accelerating. I've never "fixed" a car on my own before but thanks to y'all I was able to fix it myself for $40! Cheers!
Changing my coil 1 for the same thing today actually lol
@@zachjenkins8164 SAME HAHA Apparantely coil 1 fails first.
This was stupid hard. My F150 is so much less complicated to do such an easy repair. But thank you guys for the awesome contents and not editing out where you guys had problematic issues. I’m definitely taking this to a dealership to get this fixed. Lol. You guys are great mechanics. Give yourself some more credit.
I was going to change my plugs myself. But seeing all the shot you just did 🤔I'm gonna pay someone else.
I’m thinking that as I watch this 😂
Lmao I was thinking the same thing I’m pay somebody
Seriously 😳 I changed my own on my 08 caravan I had. When the mechanic quoted me the price to change them on my journey, I thought ha I'll do it. Watching this 🙄 it's going back to my mechanic lol
Right f that😭🤦♀️
Yeah I did that.. $34 for plugs 75 for labor. 34x6 so close to $280 for parts and labor.
I just finished replacing my plugs using this video and the job went well. For those that feel it may be too difficult, it looks much harder then it is. The most dificult part was getting the "back piece" that connects to the "Throttle Body" both off and back on. Notes: 1: I did not have to remove the hose from the coolant tank to get that "back piece" off. 2: On the "back piece", his front clip was NOT broken, the back two clips pop up but the front one slides off the clip (pull it towards the rear when the back two are popped up). 3: Removing the part between the air cleaner filter box and the "back piece", there were a number of things clipped to it that needed to be un-clipped that he did not have. 4: Installing upper intake manifold instructions: (A) hand start all attaching bolts (B) Tighten bolts gradually starting in the center working outward until a torque of ? (He said 7-9 Nm but I also read 12 Nm) is obtained. 5: I did not remove the "Throttle Body" from the manifold. In hindsight I wish I had removed it and cleaned it, he also has a vid on cleaning it {th-cam.com/video/3od7A_fFob8/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=AutoRepairGuys}, (Canadian Tire sells the cleaner for $10.49).
Putting back the back piece was really a mission.
I did it myself for the second time..... had a missfire before and watched his video. Now im changing all the coils and sparkplugs and watched again for a refresher and got the job done in just over an hour. Great video!
This is hands down the best video on how to change spark plugs on a 2019 Dodge Journey. My boyfriend and I followed your video step by step due to how well you describe what you're doing and then show how to do it as well. We will definitely be watching more of your videos in the future if need be. 😃
Thanks for the walk through. I was able to follow along easily and changed all my coil packs and spark plugs successfully! But I do agree with the other people in the comments, we have had so many issues, we dont like our Dodge Journey either😔
i just got to say... THANK YOU so much!!! you guys really went through the trouble to answer all the stupid questions that I had.
this is better than text book thankyou please make more videos on the Dodge Journey. thank you
I just changed the sparkplugs on my journey. the order of taking off parts is not right. and there is one part that you don't need to separate to do the job. once you disconnect the hose from the air filter, the cylindric part behind the upper intake, leave it there, until you remove the upper intake. also the part with the 4 same screws between the hose and that cylinder part, you don't need to disconnect it, leave it connected to the upper intake. once you remove the upper intake, the cylindric part behind comes out super easy and you save time. just make sure you detach the plastic clip
Karen lmao

Guys I just did this today. Don't get overwhelmed, it's actually a very easy task. Took me about an hour.
your videos are so detailed and you dont miss a thing every bit of information is goos
I’ve had to watch this video twice and I really want to thank you, you are awesome
Hey keep up the good work! But if you remove the bracket on the right side of the engine you’ll need a open end spanner or deep socket. Remove this and you can pull top cover and throttle body off in one saves heaps of time
This is my project for tmrw so this outta be fun lol
Thank you ...I have a 2013 n you guys just made it easy for me to try to do this job myself
You are de best!!
I use a lot of tips on my JOURNEY.
I just bought one, 2012 RT I subscribed and may need future Help from your videos .
Thanks for Sharing your skills and tips.
Saving money is a Great idea.
After watching this video I will be taking my Dodge Journey to the shop that .
The 09 Cadillac CTs is very similar. Had to remove the upper intake just to access the spark plugs.
You guys are very knowledgeable this video was a great help in changing the sparkplugs...it was a headache doing it but following this video I was able to do the job right...thanks guys you rock!
Thanks guys, video really helped me. Now the DJ is running better than ever. Keep up the good work.
Can you make a video detailing the way to remove and replace the Bluetooth module from under the drivers side dash in a 2013 dodge journey rt please? 8.4 unconnect radio with navigation , Bluetooth and voice recognition. Much appreciated 🙏
Do you have a video for just cylinder 1
You guys are great. Have you ever had to replace the viscous coupler for AWD system?
Does the tire have to be taken off to disconnect the battery before changing the spark plugs
Awesome instructional video. Nice watch too.
Have you made a video for the Wheel bearings on the dodge journey?
Thanx for the assist. Though a couple of changes. you would be better off worrying about the throttle body after you remove the intake disconnect all electrical connections and vacuum lines from the throttle body. Disconnect the resonator and remove the air tube. Push the resonator back towards the firewall and remove the intake. Once the intake is out, then you can pull the resonator.
Hi AutoRepairGuys. I have a 2013 journey 3.6L 91k miles. idle is a little rough when warm and idles about 600rpm. No check engine light. Would you recommend spark plug replacement and throttle body cleaning?
Thank you guys for saving me a ton of time with repairs to my 2013 journey. I recently had a check engine light come on with a code p0740, any idea what I need to check?
O2 sensor
Great camera work
Thank you for what you do
Can you please do a video to replace rear washer fluid nozzle on 2013 journey? Thanks.
I have a crank no start issue going on. I got a new battery, and camshaft sensor. I've tried the relays. It's getting fuel and it has spark plugs that are only 2 months old do you have any idea what the issue could be
Great Video, i build Engines for a living and believe me some bolts and there placements make no sense.
What are the intake manifold bolts and foot pounds or inch pounds
I have this same engine on a dodge journey and its throwing code p2004. Do you know how I can fix this ?
Can you make a video of the repair of the infamous "ticking" of the engine.
Did you ever figure it out mine is doing it now
@Dr. Greenthumb yes
Might be bad rocker arms
Im working on one now and I did not have to remove the throttle body. I just removed 6 bolts and intake screws and the wire harness on intake and took the whole intake off. In less than 5 min. You only need a 13mm wrench and deep socket and 8mm socket..
yes!!! thank you! i just said that!
fegetta1 he said he needs to remove it because they are doing a video for later how to clean the TB.
Ohh ok. That makes sense if there making a future video for indept discriptions
The spark plug tubes are thin wall, so be careful and keep your extension and socket straight. A thin wall 5/8 spark plug socket is best to use.
When doing the spark plugs, are the coils easily assessable to replace as well? What about the throttle body, how do you take it off and clean properly? Thanks
Alright....spark plugs are now replaced, but I was getting an electronic throttle control light, and an abs light after the reinstall. I had the wife drive the car around the neighborhood, and I double checked my sensor connections. At this point, I am still getting the traction control and a check engine light, and the performance of the engine is diminished. It runs just fine, but wont rev above 2500 rpm even though it will hit highway speeds. Any recommendations? Thabks for the video. It was very informative and very well done!
15:00 “that’s quite a bit of work”
Your telling me try change the journeys heater core without taking off the dash. That one bar that holds the air bag needs to be bent and is such a hassle to put back in place after.
How about a video on the motor mounts?
That would be extremely helpful!!!!!
I love this guy.
I remember changing the plugs on my slant 6 W100. Took about 15 minutes and I didn't have to disassemble half the motor to do it. That said I can't see anything here that would prevent me from changing my plugs on my 3.6 journey.
That white towel with red stains at minute 3:49,.... is all the blood from scraping his knuckles trying to get that plastic piece out!
That's why video skips so quickly
🤣🤣🤣
Great video. Can u do front right abs sensor.
Will this exact video be the same for 2017 dodge journey?
Hi! Auto repair guy😊 may I know the torque specs for the rear driveshaft propeller to the transmission? It’s the 6 8mm bolt. Thanks in advance.
That’s the same thing when open the Dodge Journey 2010?
great video. thank you. my 2011 journey has only 32000 miles but I have a P0300 code. do you have any tips to pinpoint if it is spark plug or coil problem. thank you
I'm throwing same code on my 2015. If I find anything i'll comment. Have you found anything since?
@@ProToolsApproved nothing but I am hearing even Durangos with same engine have issues. I ran mine on highway with different consistent speeds and rpms and seems to have cleared up for now whatever is wrong with it
@@gard567 the CEL turned off on mine as well but I went forward with the tune up. Plug tunnels #3 & #5 were full of oil. So off came the value cover. All went well with patience. But putting it back together I had a terrible hard time finding torque specs and with everything being plastic (GRRRRRR I HATE THIS) I cracked one of the cam sensor things that go into the side of the value cover. So now I have a decent oil leak. Tearing it all back down again today to replace
Delighted that you have made repair videos for this vehicle, this is the third family car (E46 BMW and Hyundai Elantra being the others) that I have used from your play list, so a big thank you.
In the absence of any obvious issues or codes, how many miles do you recommend for changing out the plugs and ignition coils?
You guys should've done the back I don't have enough room and trying to figure out how to get back there
Hello, I have a Journey 2016. When can I know that I need to change that piece? What is the improvement if I change that?
Thank you all.
My 2016 dodge journey stutters at the red light like it’s going to die… I’ve changed the spark plugs (there is no check engine light) … what can I do next?
Do you have to reset the computer when replacing spark plugs on 2.4 Dodge Journey 2015
I replace the the spark plugs of my 15 journey and successfully I replace but the problem is multiple after the installation failing of MAF sensor, throttle and several codes pops. What I have to do to fix this? Thanks
Great Video.
Not fair I didn't know you were born with three hands that makes it a lot easier I'm sure 😂😂😂😂😂
I’m trying to figure out where my fuel filter is on my 2015 3.6 sxt Journey
U guys are awesome very detailed
Thanks for the video.
Hi friend I have a question , my dodge journey sometimes when I turn it on is shaking for seconds what do u think is the problem🤔
Is there a difference between the 2015 3.6l v6 and the 2018 3.6l v6. Looking to add a cold air intake, but can't seem to find one for a 2018 dodge journey.
Damn what a mission why couldn't dodge make it more harder
I know right lol
Excellent 🔥
Where the fuel filter located in 2010 journey?
What's the estimate time on this job?
I had a misfire on call number three so I change the coil pack On number three and all six spark plugs And it’s still misfiring I change the gaskets and I still miss firing what’s my next option
also getting misfire on cylinder 3. Only happens when cold starting the vehicle. Misfires twice. Try cleaning your mass airflow sensor with mass airflow cleaner.
Brother, all this for damn spart plugs lol, I was searching to where they were before I even started and damn, might as well make us take out the whole damn engine, lol. I just changed my 2018 Kia Fortes spart plugs and said to myself "might as well do my Journey." Yeeeee going to wait until I truly need to now lol fudge that!
Hi guys, any idea why smoke would happen after everything has been put back together?
13 dodge journey just got the tranny changed the car cuts off while in gear if I put it in park and start it works what could it b
I left the backing piece in the back, and didnt take the throttle actuator off. If you leave the back piece in the back and work on removing the intake, you can just take it out after you remove the intake.
I have a 2018 Dodge Journey SE and I’m trying to install a complete subwoofer systems but I don’t want to mess it up, can y’all help me out?
where is the PCV valve located on this engine? NOt the purge valve.
Thank you!!! I did it!!!!
I have a 2014 journey and it has a ticking noise in the engine. Any idea what it might be and how to stop it? I heard it might be the rocker arm.
Theres an open recall on some models for failing rocker arms
Awesome video. Thanks!
Thank you so much, you saved me so much money!! You all are awesome.
Every time I start my 3.6 sxt Journey I notice a loud rattling till it gets oil pressure, is that normal?
O man. I think I will just sell my Journey.
Good luck with that
@@tclay1985 sounds like you are trying to sell yours.
Hey guys, really need your help??!! I have a 2018 Dodge Journey SE with only 46,258 miles on it. I’ve checked everything on this vehicle a bunch of videos but y’all is the best. My issue is when I give my car gas on the gas pedal and let off the gas pedal… it does this hiccup shimmy thing like it’s not getting air or gas. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT 💡. I have 2 diagnostic machines and they say everything is fine. Not true and the mechanics want to charge me a ton for a check but with no light they won’t do anything!!! I saw a video from y’all about replacing the gas pedal, do you think that might be it? I’m just stumped guys. It honestly has NO POWER on or off hills which I know is normal but to have it happen on a flat ground isn’t right. I’ve changed the spark plugs and the edge that touches the motor is black around the edge of the circle. I know that’s normal sometimes.any ideas on this? I was thinking maybe a gas filter? I changed all air filters, spark plugs, and have even put fuel cleaner through it many times and it still gets bad gas mileage, sometimes even when just at an idle stop…. SOMETIMES it feels like it’s going to stall so I thought maybe it was the timing belt or chain? Don’t know how to check that though. How do I know if it might be the transmission? And ideas or scenarios I can try to figure this out??? I’m moving further away from my kids and need my car in great shape… please help me out…
09 2lt crd 40000 miles gear box problems.Dealer wants £4500 to fix. can we please have videos on gear box oil change. checking gearbox oil levals etc
Do a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee they have a bracket like that and it’s a pain in the butt
You guys made it harder on your self's taking out that filter.. Could of tooken off the upper plastic by the window to access the back of the motor
How about how to replace a water pump on 2013 journey?
Crazy they make it that difficult to just get access to them, they rip us off hoping we go to the dealership for maintenance and car manufacturers should really get in trouble for that
Any TRANSVERSE-MOUNTED V6 DOHC will require this kind of job in order to get access to the spark plugs!
lol you haven’t seen Toyota v6 job then . Those are pain in the ass
Just replaced the plugs on 2012 journey. Car sat for a week while waiting on repairs. Now it will not start everything’s plugged back in the way it was before. Any suggestions?
did you forget to plug back your battery? or the battery could be dead?
Grasias😁👍🏼
My 2016 journey shudders while driving also at idle what could cause this
Could need a tune up and an idle pulley took mine to the shop for that today.
At how many miles should the spark plugs be changed?
itis hard the tell, but ruffly, every 50,000 miles max
The ones I buy are 100k warranty
If you take the intake off first it will come out very easy.
Please list torque specs in description.
Seems like Dodge muffed this up even more with the 3.6L. Seems much easier to remove the top part of the engine off on the 3.5L.
What happens to the good old days of open hood apark plug and wires right there... Making a 5 minutes job and turning it into a hour job
Lol right
Great detailed video. These are horrible engines to do a tune up on, worse design. Rear O2 sensors are just a bad to get to..
