This has to possibly be my favorite MCU film, out of all of them! The quality, the realism, still mixed with superhero concept and spy espionage. I also thought this was peak Captain America from Chris Evans, with the look, character and overall vibe.
What secret Wars was supposed to be like
I've always said what I think made this movie so great is that it's an amazing political thriller that happens to have super heroes.
My thoughts exactly! I remember coming back from the cinema thinking "this is how you make a 'realistic' comicbook movie but without renouncing all the stuff that makes them super heroes, with all their silliness and sci-fi elements". We were too used get to either light comedic super hero movies (like Iron Man movies or the first Avengers) or serious toned-down gritty super hero movies that pretended they weren't super heroes (like the Nolan Batman movies, which I really like as movies, but you get my point about them). This was the perfect balance of all that. Perfectly executed.
same
Absolutely
Fun fact: Steve's list of things he's missed was different in each country. Also, the guy that held his own against Cap is MMA champion Georges St-Pierre, he's a Canadian actor former UFC fighter.
Nicest man in UFC!!
GSP the GOAT 🐐
What bothers me is that Vibranium is supposed to absorb impact. In The Avengers we saw Cap's shield take a full strike from Mjolnir, and Cap wasn't fazed.
Now we have someone kicking his shield and feeling it?
@@Caseytify Yep. Comic-book physics. If it can truly absorb vibration, then it shouldn't make a clanging noise when hit, nor should it bounce off of things when Cap throws it.
Batroc The Leaper!!
Normally considered a D-list villain. But the MCU does like tinkering with characters.😆
That moment Cap single handedly takes down a jet, w/ the greatest (okay, not the original, but a damn fine) Superhero landing of all time !
Although I enjoyed the elevator fight the way Cap took down that plane was fire.
I just wish they did it like the comics and had him do it when he jumps out of the elevator, it would make both scenes more believable
The whole dynamic between Steve and Bucky is explained in the scene before the flashback "Even when I had lost everything, I still had bucky" - that is loyalty.
This is the first movie where we all realized the MCU was truly something special.
At least until "Avengers: Endgame" 😅
speak for yourself. That was established well before this.
The hand to hand between cap and bucky was elite
I watched this movie a while back. It's cringe. These movies are cringe. Tried to watch Black Panther, the beginning was was so forced and tacked on. Are we all watching the same thing?
If you didn't get that from The Avengers, I'm guessing that you rode a short bus to school.
Random movie goer: "Is this the MCU?"
Former MCU fan: "This is what the MCU is supposed to be."
"So this was the MCU?"
"It was… and it was beautiful."
@CedricBassman you rejects do nothing but bch and cry...
Yesss that’s why it’s still my favorite of the MCU!!
Ugh, I'm a Marvel fan but some of y'all are cringe to the max
I see what you did there. :p
The Capt. America movies are probably my favorites from the MCU, mainly because Chris Evans did such an amazing job bringing Steve Rogers to the big screen.
That elevator fight scene is absolutely incredible, too.
The Captain America trilogy movies were fortunate not only to have great actors but also had great story writers and directors that were able to understand the dynamic of the character
@@lukasismael430💯 Couldn't have said it best
It's not Chris But Russo Brothers who made what he is today.. Captain America 1 is way average movie.
@@saurabhraj2690, sure thing.
Fun fact: The quote on Fury's headstone @34:39 is from the Bible, Ezekiel 25:17. Sam Jackson's character in Pulp Fiction quoted it before he shot the guy in the apartment and at the end of the movie.
Chris and Scarlett have been good friends outside of films for years. I think that's what gives their film interactions such a genuine feel.
Also the fact FACT that he had a bigger hard on for Bucky than her was pretty telling about his gayness. #QueertainAmerica
I think their first time being in a movie together was perfect score
And they were also together in The Nanny Diaries.
Shame she did that art movie, really showed she is way below average and that it was just the clothes that gave her an illusion of being more
I do love their friendship so much. I was so happy the writers of this movie didn't try to make it romantic.
Your scream when Nick Fury got shot...😅😂... Priceless...this is my favorite MCU movie and I love seeing these reactions
Till this day, in my opinion this is the best LIVE ACTION superhero movie and at least BY FAR the best MCU movie. It doesnt have any flaws. Also the genre of this movie fits Captain America so fucking well.
This Movie raise Captain America profile in the MCU, The Winter Soldier was on that next level shit like The Dark Knight!
Damn Straight! My fav marvel movie.
I Believe it @@russelturner5771.
Something to notice : it happens so fast that it's easy to miss, but when Cap grabs Nat and they jump through the glass, she shoots the glass before they hit. No plan, no communication - she just does the right thing by instinct.
Yeah I noticed that...great interplay between them, no talk between them, just great symmetry.
@@shootingreal5945 symmetry? You mean chemistry
"I feel like in this one she's super seductive."
Well, her codename IS Black Widow.
She was seductive in iron man and avengers too maybe Kristen didn't notice it that much
One of the best action movies ever that just so happens to be in the MCU. Also it gives us the "ship" that is Romanogers. Best chemistry between any on screen female and male pairing in the MCU.
I have this in 4K. It's just a really good movie. This and "Avengers 1 and "Civil War are my favorite MCU movies because of "Chris Evans's Captain America. Great action and story. Black Widow is also good in this.
“This isn’t freedom. This is fear.” So many great lines and conflicting ideals in this one. It really made me love and appreciate Captain America in the MCU. 6:15 I’m on Cap’s side 😅
Whoever bought the captain America video game for Christmas to play in front of Chris on Christmas break is solely to thank for this movie fighting being what it is lol. He saw that game and immediately said "I want this in the next movie " lol I'll forever thank them for that lol
The funny thing about Robert Redford being the villain in this movie is that the common consensus among fans is, he would have been the perfect casting for Captain America if he was younger. He's been one of the top fancasts for decades.
I love the "Ezekiel 25:17" on Fury's tomb stone at the end. 😅
Nice touch 😊
Nicolas Jules Fury. Let me find out he was a variant all along 💀
@@wartyrant8627 That is...
A tasty take!
For those who don’t know what that Bible verse says, it says this:

"You know what, I'll even call you daddy!"
RIP Kristen's dm/inbox 😅🤣
The "older woman" Black widow pretends to be is Jenny Agutter- a legend in genre films - from Logans Run to An American Werewolf in London.
"I'm sorry, did I step on your moment?"
Easily one of the top 10 moments of the entire MCU.
Of all the MCU movies, I think this one is #1. As I was thinking why, I realized, fights without mindless minion randomness...
"I'm not going to launch those ships. Captain's orders." are my favorite lines in the movie.
From his perspective, he already knows that he is a dead man. But it's Captain America, by-God.
Captain America drew a line in the sand, and this technician was the first to unhesitatingly cross over.
This movie still gives me chills. One of the best espionage movies ever made. “ I’m with you to the end of the line.”😭😭😭😭😭😭
And "on your left" gave me chills in Avengers:Endgame.
This is the Best Capt. America film. So well done!
My favorite little blink and you'll miss it scene, is Pierce rolling his eyes at Fury's "you need to keep both eyes open" line.
The first Captain America movie was a good period piece but this film took it to the next level. He's a modern character but with much older traditional values, he uniquely authentic in a way most heroes couldn't be today. Partnering him with Widow's moral ambiguity was also a genius move.
Such an amazing film....The superhero homage to "Three Days of the Condor," with political commentary about government surveillance, especially Bush- /Obama-era drones....Bucky coming back....For the first time, Batroc not being a joke....Black Widow, Nick Fury and Falcon co-starring....THANKS for continuing this series, @Kris10Kesp !!!!
Not to mention the meta level casting of Robert Redford, the hero on the run from the feds in Days of the Condor, as the fed hunting Cap down
Kristen + Winter soldier reaction.
I can do this all day
Haha this comment...
I understood that reference.
6:18 - Gary Sinise narrating at the museum.
He was of the actors considered for Wolverine.
One of my favorite mcu movies of all time. This is one movie I can watch 1,000 times and it never gets old. I love Natasha. She is a bad ass, but so beautiful. I need a girlfriend like her. I think her and Steve have the best chemistry out of all the marvel characters and simply are the best duo.
Last time I trusted someone I lost an eye, hahahaha.
Such a badass line. And they turned it into a joke. 🤦♂
@@BothanJedi That is not what I meant at all.
@@BothanJedi So infuriating, that. smh
Electroshock therapy has been known to remove memories so them using electroshock to "reset" him, has a foot in realism.
This is the best Marvel movie. It’s cause you can watch it w/out watching any other movies. Best line is “Then finish it…cause I’m with you til the end of the line…”
You can do the same for pretty much every origin movie. I think Doctor Strange was much better than this one.
@@NovusIgnislol no way this makes top 2 mcu movies Dr strange is not even top 10
Agreed!
“ I’m not gonna fight you, your my friend”,
“And your my mission”
“Then finish it”….”cause I’m with you to the end of the line” THATS MY CAPTAIN! 😭
Ps. Still love bucky’s theme when they show him and play it. Also Cap Vs Bucky will forever be one of my favorite fights of the MCU.
I still can’t believe that the Russo Bros, who made their name directing some of the best episodes of Community and Arrested Development, went on to direct 4 of the greatest comic book movies of all time!
I really wish they'd return to the MCU. They're needed. LOL
They developed one: this one. Civil War, Infinity War, and Endgame are mediocre to bad in that order. There's no substance to them, and certainly no meaning or consequences. You can see the MCU declining when you wake up and take the goggles off
@@NovusIgnis all three of those movie you listed are on many of the best critics and fans lists of the best come book movies of all time. The last two avengers movies brought audiences to cheers and tears. Do you want to be in the minority and hate the majority fine, follow Green Goblins philosophy when he told Spider-Man “The one thing they love to see more than a hero, is to see a hero fail, fall, die, trying. In spite of everything you’ve done for them eventually they will hate you.” You wanna be blinded by irrational hate, fine. Or instead, instead of dragging everyone down to your level, try rising up to theirs.
@@thedarkknight2221 Lmao my level is higher up, not lower. If you're satisfied by junk food all of your life, are you going to pretend like you're better than someone who expects quality and healthy food? Judging from how you talk, I wouldn't doubt that's the case.
I really couldn't care less what critics and fans praise, I am not them. In the apt words of Rick Sanchez, "Your boos mean nothing: I've seen what makes you cheer." I would bet dollars to donuts that many of those critics also place Netflix's Cuties and Lolita very highly on their own personal lists of favorite movies. I don't think you'll need three guesses to figure out why.
Civil War was mediocre: it was still fun to watch but the story and writing weren't some crazy revolutionary thing. Infinity War had the chance to be truly amazing, but it's one half of a whole. Endgame completely invalidates it because they didn't have the balls to let people stay permanently dead, which means when you're watching Infinity War you know that *none* of it means anything. Like literally even while I was watching it and the entire year gap waiting for Endgame to come out, I knew they weren't going to let those characters die. I hoped beyond hope that they would, because then things would have a true weight to them, but I knew they wouldn't because these movies are made by businesses and not by artists.
And that's the crux of this matter: I expect *ART* not *PRODUCTS.* You're fine with consuming their products and deluding yourself into calling it art, but I can see the plastic wrapping and barcodes and "limited edition" stickers on everything. I don't delude myself into thinking that they're trying to make something real like you do. Because of this, it's easy to see the same formula present in everything. I could watch an MCU film nowadays and could tell you *exactly* what was going to happen next at any given point in the movie because they're all predictable. That isn't art, that's product.
@@NovusIgnis and I’m guessing that like Rick Sanchez you’re a sad, lonely, depressed alcoholic or addict or both and only feel powerful or happy by knocking other people down
You're so right that the years change your perspective. Especially themes of friendship, aging and such hit different as we age. Honestly, that last "i'm with ya till the end of the line" scene gets even me misty-eyed.
@CinePals - somebody make a playlist of just Kristen watching the MCU, please 😂
This has always been one of my favorite Marvel movies. Black Widow really steps up in this movie and gets to show out. This movie was a bit more grounded and had some real sense of danger to it and having Sabastian Stan who is great as the Winter Solider.
I'm with Kristen I've gotten more emotional in relation to watching movies with certain topics like friendship and mothers and fathers, probably because of the lack of mine, it always gets me.
I concur.
This is still considered one of the best - if not THE best - MCU movie, and easily in the top 3 on anyone's list. It doesn't have the typical "superhero movie" vibe, going for an intense political thriller tone instead. It's also a gamechanger for the MCU because the stakes are so high, and the fall of SHIELD has major repercussions going forward. It showed that the MCU was not always going to play it safe, and that they weren't afraid to take big swings and shake up the status quo.
0:58 Fun Fact: Depending on what country you were in while watching this in the theatre, Steve's book had a different list.
This is my fav MCU film for the following funny reasons:
1. Captain America only kisses spies! 😂
2. Only Captain America would kiss Black Widow & friendzone her right after! 😅
Easily top 3 MCU movie, that elevator breakout scene and the plane is just pure cinema greatness.
"That woman" is the nurse that fell in love with An American Werewolf In London.
She was also in the movie "Logan's Run."
Jenny Agutter I believe was the actress name and she also played in Child's Play 2 which some people might forget.
@@victorewah2659 Correct.
Loved the reaction. I really do prefer her solo reactions. She spends more time honestly reacting rather than trying to entertain her partner.
She cut a lot of the action, which I understand, but not knowing who Stan Lee was is unforgivable.
Definitely agreed! This is usually my problem too with reaction channels in general, not just CinePals. I usually dislike reactions that feature more than one reactor because of exactly what you said.
@13:59 What a difference in Rumlow saying “this ain’t personal” and the expression “it’s not personal, it’s strictly business” from The Godfather.
MCU Super Hero movies grew up with this film. We got to see Cap's view on things, especially the government, change. No longer was he that rigid soldier that accepts orders without question ("Ours is not to question why, ours is just to do or die"). He's rigid to the idea of freedom and to truth and justice. When Fury wanted to save pieces of SHIELD, Cap said, "Nope. It all goes". We see even more of this growth in relation to blind loyalty to government(s) in later films. Cap is who we all aspire to be. Chris Evans was perfect for the role. Thank goodness the Fantastic Four movie wasn't good enough to earn a sequel or else we'd still have him as the Torch.
Batroc (the French speaking guy at the beginning) is not a super human but he’s peak human potential. Imagine someone that would be an Olympic gold medalist in every sport.
That’s why he could hold his own for a few seconds against Cap, but he didn’t stand a chance
I grew up reading a lot of old Captain America comics from the 60s and 70s, which I got from a store that sold old vintage comic books. That was my introduction to the character. When I saw this movie for the first time, I felt Marvel MCU nailed his character and personality so perfectly. In different hands they could have turned him into a stereotype of what his name is. They could have interpreted his character as a one dimensional jingoistic "right or wrong, my country" following orders type of hero. But instead they made him represent what America really is, struggling to do the right thing which often means questioning and challenging authority. That was the Cap I grew up with in the old comic books.
My favorite "Marvel character and MCU movie. Excellent movie choice🎉
This movie had the first reference of Doctor Strange (Stephen Strange) as a Marvel character.
this was, still and will be forever my fav captain America movie...
This is my number one favorite MCU film, it’s so good. Just a classic mystery thriller that’s also a super hero film. You don’t know who to trust, there’s twists everywhere, especially the big monologue with Dr. Zola and the big reveal the Buckys alive and is The Winter Soldier. I remember my mind blown with it. Like I knew who he really was because of the comics but still seeing it was just wow. I also love how attentive she was during the reaction. Barely spoke a word most of the movie. Shows how great this movie is.
I absolutely love all the varied ways his shield is used. Felt like they revolutionized how Captain America works in action.
Natasha in Iron Man 2 was fine, but you really don't see her for all she is until the first Avengers movie ... She deserved her own film way sooner than she got it.
The Captain America movies have to be my favorite MCU movies pre Infinity War/Endgame. They have so much emotional content in addition to being just ripping yarns ... And although you seem to be on team iron Man, I'm firmly in the team Cap camp. Can't wait till you watch Civil War!
On Steve's list to things to watch is Star Wars, which will get super awkward when he watches the prequels and sees Fury as Jedi Mace Windu lol
This movie is perfect, great action, great storytelling, it make you believe into the characters, it will never get old 👍
Kristen is adorable.
Still the best MCU movie imo
This movie is still in my top 5 MCU movies of all time. My only grievances with it are that I wanted to see a little more of Sam and Rumlow's fight and that Alan Silvestri didn't come back to do the score. Otherwise, it's damn near perfect of a film as a whole, not just a superhero one.
Scarlet was pregnant during the filming of this...probably why you noticed she looks different.
You are wrong she was pregnant in Ultron.
I like how intently ur focusing on this movie. That’s how we all were when this film first dropped! Such a captivating movie 🍿
10:30 … the song playing is so captivating and charming. It needs to be on a lot of playlists.
Without giving away too much of the later movies, one of the targets on the HYDRA list was Dr. Stephen Strange. The engineer that refused to launch the helicarriers literally saved the universe.
the real question is, is how in the hell could hydra predict that a neurosurgeon would get into a random car accident two years later which would then lead to him discovering the ability to use magic, making him sorcerer surpreme
6:47 Interesting question. Why was Peggy's marriage so secretive? Case in point. she only referred to him as "my husband" in the video at the Smithsonian, her pictures in her room do not show her husband. When you get to another point (later video) I'll bring it up again.
10:50 reaction is hilarious 🤣
The Enemy of my Enemy is my Friend.
Peggy, Nick Fury, Black Panther's dad, Steve and Natasha knew HYDRA killed Tony's parents.
Kristen you just watched one of the best movies in the MCU. Do they get bigger and better, yes. Do they get cooler than this one? Well that's a high bar, don't compare. This movie is very peak, any average joe can just love it for what it is or see it over and over.
Guardians is next! She's gonna re-order her entire list.
I loved this film because the MCU films can lean way too far into the hokey jokes and they implement humor where there really shouldn’t be any however this one felt a lot more grounded and serious. The action scenes were insanely well realized and the story was compelling. There are some fantastic films in the series after this movie but few hit this level of quality.
These MCU reactions are being released ridiculously slowly! guys please upload at least weekly.
Winter Soldier Natasha is still my favorite Black Widow across all films.
Til this day this is absolutely still my favorite marvel movie…the winter soldier was so good in this movie! Great sequel for the first captain America movie 🇺🇸🦾❄️
I don't always remember to comment, but this is still one of my favorites in the MCU. Also, Kristen has the most amazing eyes. I can't believe I had never noticed before. 💐💐💕💕
Just a heads up, Scarlett is SUPER SEDUCTIVE in every marvel movie, it's just for me she doesn't even have to try :p
And that moment, Cap redirects the minimum fire back into the operatives using his shield, giving us another awesome Cap technique!
My favorite MCU movie.💯
Next, Guardians of the Galaxy. A new team you'll definitely enjoy 😉.
Bucky and Steve are in my top favorite MCU characters (amongst others.) Also, all I will say is...yes, I agree with everything you said here about Captain America/Steve Rogers...lol.
Kristen you should definitely checkout the great series Agents of Shield. The first seasons last few episodes line up with this movie adding much more storyline. Also if you think Black widow is a badass wait to you see Agent Melinda may from the series she’s played by Ming-Na Wen. She’s so damn sexy in how she fights
Fun Fact: all the museum narrations are by Gary Sinise (Lt. Dan) in every movie.
I never liked the modern Cap suits; I find his WW2 outfit much better looking.
Until Disney bought Marvel, then Fox, the MCU couldn't use the word "mutant," so they said "enhanced" instead.
10:28 this song still gives me massive feels. Winter Soldier, Endgame, Loki, What If… stop toying with my emotions, Marvel!
This movie remains to be my favorite MCU movie of all time. And yes, MAJOR DADDY VIBES. #teamcap
It is time for gaurdians of galaxy jaby.
Make a playlist of all the marvel, xman & spiderman movies being caught up to Christine.
It's only going to get more and more emotional from here. Can't wait to see how much it breaks Kristen.
Steph at the very end , Baron Von Strucker said nothing is as horrifying as a Miracle, somethings in nature occur that are beyond normal... he was in the 1998 movie , Nick Fury : Agent of SHIELD
16:59 Haha, yeah. I totally thought there was a budding romance between Cap and Natasha in this movie. I ship them 😄
34:39 Fun Fact: Samuel L. Jackson stars in "Pulp Fiction" as a hit man, and he occasionally recites scripture. One that he quotes often is the one engraved on Fury's tombstone.
21:51 Bruce Banner, Stephen Strange, very important characters to know.
my dad was an extra in this movie and he said everyone was super nice. this was the family favorite MCU movie for a while.
The following things in this movie we all ignored because this movie was awesome:
- If HYDRA was hiding behind SHIELD the whole time, doesn’t that mean in the first Avengers movie HYDRA actually had the Tesseract the whole time?
- Why would HYDRA let Nick Fury put together The Avengers in the first place, since they can literally stop any evil plans they have for the future?
- In the first Avengers movie, how did Tony Stark not see HYDRA lurking within when he decrypted all of SHIELD’s files?
@BatmanFan76
Hallmark of great writing. It's so good, not only do you not think about those things, you don't care.
@@Luciphell Not to mention not everyone was Hydra. So I would assume most sensitive Hydra intel would be kept on individual personal files for security.
I see, someone has watched the Honest Trailer.
1. They had. But what else should they have done with it? They were already testing for Energy/Weapon development usage.
2. Because, on paper, the Avengers Initiative reads like a pipe dream. And they weren't working together at all until Phil Coulson died. I guess Hydra didn't anticipate Coulson dying and that bringing them all together.
3. Because he didn't see everything? I know, we all love to mindlessly glaze Tony, no matter how annoying it gets, but he certainly isn't *that* good. I know he said he'll know "every little secret" but we really take this literal if it comes from a Guy with a massive Ego?
1. No because it took a while for the new Hydra to grow large enough inside shield to be fully in control. Likewise end of the day shield ended up using it to make weapons just like Hydra wanted to.
2. They didn’t. The avengers initiative was shut down in between the events of iron man 2 and avengers. They likely only allowed the avengers to assemble when they did because literal aliens were about to invade and stole their only means of fighting back. They didn’t really have any options. (Edit: and even then within the movie itself a known hydra agent is shown to be very much against fury relying on “the freaks” and even literal tries to use a nuke to kill then all along with the aliens)
3. There almost certainly not reference to Hydra still existing within shields files. That would be an incredibly stupid thing to do. Likewise despite what he said I doubt Tony actually went through every single shield file. He was just exaggerating when he said he’d know all of shield’s lies.
The show agents of shield is there for this reason. They answer this specifically. If they tried to take it directly it could blow their cover. They mostly let Zola and Howard keep it. Though they tried to take it along with the scepter when they had the chance during avengers aftermath.
The worst thing about the Winter Soldier...with the exception of Endgame, it doesn't get any better than this for the MCU. The good guys are so damn likable in this one, and though Hydra's evil plan stretches suspension of disbelief to the breaking point, the villains (and the actors playing them) sell it well.
21:46 Did he just say the The TVA? 😮😮😮 Darn 😂😂🎉
