The long-awaited, highly requested paladin guide is here! Forgive my commentary, I made this while very tired. On a final note, you don't have to go hammers at 18, you can wait a few levels before doing so since holy fire is super good in normal especially since some players may find the hammer playstyle and mana cost frustrating right at 18. Also make sure to use Concentration Aura with your hammers for the damage.
what do you think about avengers? I personally liked the idea quite a lot because it has a similar killpower, although in single target melee, to hammers. Also pretty good for multiplayer parties as you use a lot of lower resist auras
@@juxyper I like the idea of Avenger because it's a niche underdog build that's actually doable, but I wouldn't play one outside of say, making a video on it for the viewers. If the game had melee splash like some of the mods I would like melee more lol.
@@Stormsong93 what weapon base should I cast a Lawbringer on? I made it on a War Hammer, but I'm finding it kinda slow, although the damage is good... shoul I use a Divine Scepter, Knout?.... (I'm on act 5 Nightmare)
Agreed. My favorite part is going over the runewords, since there are just so many that new players would have to comb through, not knowing which runes are harder to come by.
I love these guides. They perfectly fill current gap in existing content between build guides for salty veterans and folks returning after 20 years. Thanks
This is by far the most complete guide for new players like me... finally someone that goes through the basics (which gear is best since the early levels and whatnot). Thanks a lot!
Good guide overall. If you are going to do hammerdin which is probably a good build for first time players, you need at least 1 of 2 items before you respec. Spirit crystal sword as he described, or insight on your merc. Honestly, the insight is a bigger deal than spirit as only having the spirit sword and not insight will still have you burning mana potions casting hammers. Having insight on your merc, you can pretty much spam hammers but it will be slow going. Having the spirit sword will speed up the hammers. Having dual spirit and insight, you will be able to continuously spam hammers till the cows come home. Also, for first timers, I would respec probably after you do maggot lair in nightmare. You can teleport past everything, but recharging the staff is expensive. You CAN hammer through maggot lair, but just go slow. Another thing he doesn't mention, is walking is best since running puts a big penalty to your blocking and defense. You have vigor that will make you run almost as fast and charge as often as you want if you have dual spirit / insight.
I'd like to add that after 7 hard points in Blessed Hammer, the synergies will do more damage. I recommend maxing out concentration (+15 percent each level) then vigor, and finally blessed aim. After all those synergies are maxed, then choose Blessed Hammer. This will allow you to use lower mana cost and progress faster. Yes I looked at the individual skill points lol
This was extremely helpful. This allowed me to push through Act 2 in Hell difficulty as I was getting stuck with my Zealadin. Now my Mercenary has a lot more survivability than he did before!
This guide is the only reason i didnt rage quit diablo 2 resurrected. Tried playing my favorite classes and could not get past duriel no matter what i did (want my first clear to be solo) Built a hammerdin following your guide and raced through the content and was able to set up future characters with much needed gear. 10/10 guide and i do not say that lightly. Keep up the great work man will definitely be checking out your content from now on.
Thanks man I use to play this 20 years ago but forgot everything. I started off with a sorc but did not really like her to much. Just hit nightmare everything doing great... thanks for all the work on this guild,

Another amazing guide. Thanks for the amount of work you put in. Pumped for your next guide. Currently tossing up between Necro and pally for first d2r character. But honestly excited to beat the game with all classes
Unlike so very many, this is a great guide. While many guides tell you what to do as if you already know what to do, you keep it simple and understandable without dumbing it down. Thank you! My only suggestion would be more time stamps. For instance, if I were to come here looking for specifics on runewords and when to craft them for each build, I'd get frustrated pretty quick without some additional time stamps to point me to those kinds of specifics.
Thanks Iron. I really should make a new one for every single build sometime. These are outdated now that there are new runewords and balance changes that came with D2R.

Another thing one can do on baal waves is to stay just far enough into room they'll teleport in. run outside the room and a ways away till they stop following. go back to the entrance of room and walk forward one tile at a time pausing a couple seconds each time. eventually you'll reach agro range and it will pull just one or two at a time then repeat till group is down.
Idk about respec-ing so soon from zealot to hammer. Mana is a huge problem early in the hammer build. I would wait until you craft spirit in at least 1 hand as it gives a huge boost to mana
Mana isn’t a problem if you properly gear or know how to play ideally. If your not as experienced maybe popping a few tir runes will overcome your issues
haven't had any problems, just fill up three slots of your belt with potions and keep filling it up, when you have spirit (basically past normal) it's as you suggest, also you can add in redemption at the earliest convenience to convert corpses to mana. super useful against cows

Just a question for a new player. At lvl 18 I've respec but what is the main damage skill? If it's blessed hammers only I'm having trouble killing more than 1 mob at a time
It'll just take a bit to learn being a hammerdin. The hammers always cast from the north side of character and spiral from there so it's all about learning to position to hit mobs
Yeah, hammers take some time getting used to. Their damage right at level 18 is a little lacking but if you keep Concentration Aura active when you cast them, and found yourself any +skills to blessed hammer or concentration, like rerolling a scepter, you'll have a much stronger start.
You don't lol. This guide is trash. If you respec that early only thing you can do is chug potions and try to farm very specific things you can only get after only act 4.
The crystal sword must be obtained from a level which is after normal difficulty, or from the secret cow level in normal. So, a crystal sword found during your normal difficulty playthrough won't do. It's usually best to get it from the secret cow level after completing normal difficulty. Also, it must not be a blue name (magic) crystal sword, but a regular (white name) crystal sword.
i was followin the video while playing, but i went to the Lost tower and i realized i cannot farm the countess quest cause im playing offline singleplayer, so what would you recommend?

Any alternative weapon/shield rune word suggestions for Single Player Hammerdin
So I messed up, I wanna do Hammerdin but I got confused on how to stat spec. So I did the holy fire [Zeal] build. Im only level 9 normal so it’s not a huge deal but would it be ok to just do the Zeal holy fire build then respec for Hammerdin when things start getting a bit tougher? [level 26-30] ish??
In diablo 2 lod 1,14 d i still have bug for paladin charge , it gets frozen until i change weapons but it still very bad . Is it fixed in diablo 2 ressurected ?
I just found a Crystal Sword with 4 socketed but I don’t know what to put in there. I have a paladin with 20 point in holy fire and 20 in fire resist I’m in nightmare mode. Oh and I already messed up the chance to shuffle my points. Rookie mistake.

Yeah, hammers take some time getting used to. Their damage right at level 18 is a little lacking but if you keep Concentration Aura active when you cast them, and found yourself any +skills to blessed hammer or concentration, like rerolling a scepter, you'll have a much stronger start.
Thanks for a good guide!
I'm a little confused tho, as a hammerdin level 20ish, what gear am I going for?
You don't lol. This guide is trash. If you respec that early only thing you can do is chug potions and try to farm very specific things you can only get after only act 4.
@@madzaisa how would you do it then??
great channel :) Keep it up
That’s a monster video, thanks man…
No problem, glad it helped!
For a zealot is it better to have plus to offensive auras or combat skills for gear?
When I used my socket reward on a crystal sword it only put in one socket. What did I do wrong? Or does socketing only put in 1 socket
I just spent a night farming NM Andariel after work to discover that I'm playing the legacy version of single player, tried to make Spirit in a 4 socket crystal sword and was utterly disappointed lol 😂
I'm not gonna quit tho. Any alternative weapon/shield rune word suggestions for Single Player Hammerdin
Shoud add that running lowers defence and block rating. Had to learn it the hard way in hell^^
Holy shit, this is rocket science!!!
Your videos are pretty informative! Keep it up!
How do you do to move like this? 0:22
would like to know that aswell lol
Nexius,I have a question,in your walkthrough to beat the game in hell mode, did a HR drop?
No HRs, I've only had a few lems, ums, and kos.
Just respecced into hammerdin what do I need to do to start maxing block?
Good stuff
Thank you !!!
Yes that's fine, you're supposed to go the holy fire zeal until you're ready for hammers (18 minimum, but can be at any time after that).
@@Stormsong93 Bet. I’ll re-spec after 24-28 since holy fire rages for awhile. Thanks!!
Thank you, I will use this guide!
In diablo 2 lod 1,14 d i still have bug for paladin charge , it gets frozen until i change weapons but it still very bad . Is it fixed in diablo 2 ressurected ?
using all the skills is difficult to manage, is there a cheat way to use multiple skills like D3?
I just found a Crystal Sword with 4 socketed but I don’t know what to put in there. I have a paladin with 20 point in holy fire and 20 in fire resist I’m in nightmare mode. Oh and I already messed up the chance to shuffle my points. Rookie mistake.
Any Tips to solve Mana Problems ? Im lvl 23 now and have 48 Mana :) I cast 4 Hammers and mana is gone.
Not sure if im doing something wrong. Its my first D2 playtrough :)
Same here. I think a Lore Cap and the Rhyme Shield would help
@@mrwilson.1 I solved it with the insight runeword for my merc. It makes a big difference in mana management. And I get spirit shield and weapon for me now.
@@saschab.104 isn't insight runeword difficult to get?
I I did the same mistake and respec'd at lvl 18 and now I feed like my paladin is useless due to mana issues.
