She's done videos about the crazy sick things Europeans did too. That's the double edged sword, if you want to learn more about African (and ALL other civilizations) History, it does NOT make you feel better. The deeper you go and the farther back you go in history, the darker the practices. Think about how proud we were of Thomas Jefferson...then we went deeper and it got dark. Same thing with Lincoln, same thing with Mansa Musa, same thing with Harriet Tubman, same thing with Washington. It's hard to see your heroes brought to life because they, and we, all have dark aspects of our lives that we wouldn't want people to know in 500 years. I want to wish you good luck as African history becomes a popular field of study. The more light that is shown on a culture, the easier it becomes to spot the shadows and dark spots in a cultures history and beliefs. Just remember a person can be great and still be capable of dark things.
I have never heard anyone who studies mythologies and and religion saying that western cultures is nothing but lollipops and rainbows. On the contrary, I heard that the biggest reason why western mythologies is more popular is because of how dark and gruesome they are, that even their wisest diety-Athena-has done some horrific actions(like wearing the flayed skin of a giant she killed).
Why is it that anything not about European is scary? Vikings did a lot more gruesome things in the name of Odin.
