I am an actor and content creator with Hollywood credits including roles on Lucifer (Netflix), Starlight Christmas (Hallmark), JT Leroy (Universal Studios), etc. In this channel, I offer insight to Kpop performances using my 10+ years of training in dance, acting, singing and overall performance. Yes their debut song has very hard choreography.. Their new choreographies aren't that powerful.. I want them to do even more powerful dances than now..
But they're singers not dancers lol, I find idols nowadays are more into dancing which I don't get?? Bcs they're singers not dancers. Unlike previous idols on second generation (bigbang, 2ne1,snsd) they prioritise singing more than dancing. Music awards nowadays has turned into a dance competition, more lip syncing instead of singing live (very dull and boring). I really don't mind blackpink for not having heavy choreography, it brings much swag energy in their performance. That's what I love about yg artists, they're not DANCERS, I feel like they focus more on stage presence, vocals and rapping .

Very true, the yg is characterized by forming excellent singers and rappers, they never focused on dance, they made the exception with ikon, Blackpink and now Treasure, that's what kpop sells you, but the yg has never followed this and not is important to them. It is something that characterizes the yg, the Koreans know it and those who are fans of YG have always known it.
@@rosieclary6945 I wouldn't mind the dances they do now if they showed us more vocal variety but shockingly they haven't had one belt/high notes. And that's why Korea has singers a separate name from idols because idols have to deliver the whole package of dancing/singing/rapping/visuals/personality. And Snsd had pretty hard choreos too it was only really BigBang that didn't dance much

Boombayah is literally about being confident and didn't care what others are saying about you. The "bada bing bada boom" line that many love to make fun of and call meaningless actually means "something easy to accomplish". Used to euphemize what is said, sometimes to the extent that only the initiated will understand what is implied, and that's definitely not you. Blackpink only have 3 ballads and that's enough to prove their songs also have good storyline. The lyrics and the emotions they put in Stay and Hope Not tells a really beautiful story if you really done your research. DDDD, a story about women empowerment. Do your research also on Really and See You Later. Kill This Love literally talks about being in a toxic relationship and how they struggle to get out of it. DKWTD, tells a story how a person felt hopeless and dont know what to do after being left. At the same Kick It tells how they finally getting over it. It's not about love only, it's about the toxicity in yourself and how you find yourself by getting stronger, overcoming all the struggles yourself. SOLO is about feeling good about yourself, that you dont need no others to shine. " that's how im getting down, destined for this and the crown ". You're your own queen/king. Just stop saying that they dont have storyline if you havent listen to all of their discography. Listen to The Album, how they portrayed themself differently in each song, how each song tells different story. As I said before, music is an art. Different people interpret art differently. If you think the art is not meaningful so that's on you.
YG groups are known on their swag signature style that's why bp dance don't really have full synchronisation and focus more on their swag. They also have unique voice and performance presence more. i love how he appreciates even the littlest things about blackpink's music, cause it's really sad how some people can't seem to look past the "pang-pang-parapara" or "ddu-du ddu-du" parts of their lyrics instead of the deeper messages their songs convey. blackpink isn't really just about that. there's so much more to them than that. 🥺💗

one of the strongest debut ever. im not a blink, but i was a BIG FAN of their debut songs and stages. i watch every single stage of them on debut days bcs its so powerful and they never lose to the energy of the song. i remember being so amazed by the choreography and how the members dance to it. blackpink really starts it harder.

Actually that type of lyricism like ddu-du ddu-du or rampangpang is to appeal to an international audience. Even the Beatles with Hey Jude and their nanananananan used it, it's very intereseting and it shows that YG producers know what they're doing because you can always make those sounds regardless of your language😍💗

Thanks for breaking down and explaining interesting and difficult moves. As someone who is not a dancer but has spent a couple decades training under the umbrella of another discipline that develops a lot of the same attributes, when I watch Kpop dance videos, I know what I'm seeing is really interesting or difficult but I don't really understand why. You answer a lot of the questions I have so I just wanted to say thank you!

BLACKPINK has 2 debut songs it’s Whistle and BOOMBAYAH. Whistle MV focuses on the visuals and aesthetic you can also consider it as a (PINK) side. Meanwhile BOOMBAYAH MV focuses on dancing and charisma and this one is the (BLACK) side.

Also there are people complaining on the lack of lyrics because they’ve had the same producer since debut. BLACKPINK aren’t allowed to compse/produce/write lyrics and even if they did in (STAY, SOLO and Sure Thing Rap Cover) they didn’t get credited
Also it's important to say that most people thinks that Boombayah is their debut song and that Whistle is just a side track only because the first one appeals more to the west. BUT Boombayah never won any awards, it's Whistle that was very popular in Korea.
Albane Whistle was very popular in Korea. Although Boombayah was everywhere and the only reason why it didn’t win as much is because it is banned in some networks, KBS banned BLACKPINK because of the verse “Middle Finger Up, F U pay me” and the word “Henny”
Franky Hathaway BLACKPINK can write lyrics not just in general. If they were allowed YG could’ve given Jisoo and Jennie when they participated in Stay. But the new YG Rookies Treasure already got credits for writing their debut songs so that means YG allows them to write anything.

I agree this song has very high choreo and you have to realize this is their debut song so before this they were competing against others and dance battles and training and stuff so choreography like this was daily routine for them
