    A little confusing for me. I would start with all guard levels open and then come back with the guards closed. That way newbies can see the guidelines

    Cut my own hair for years because I'm so fussy, then got the idea it looked bad so chickened out and started going to a barber until the time he accidentally gave me a no.1.5 allover. Straight through the middle .. what an awful shock that was

    My problem is I don’t know if the guard I found on Amazon will fit my razor. I also bought some razor off Amazon and I don’t think it’s a professional razor. It didn’t come with the halves. I would love to buy them, they just look different than the ones I have and didn’t think they would fit. Help if you think I’m wrong please let me know!

      Fading with no guidelines using a descending system will create a much more seamless blend but it can become difficult when cutting your own hair to keep balance

    • @AlexKouras

    Hey Alex, could you do a number 1 fade without any 0.5 or 1.5 guards, thanks and much appreciated for the video.

    • @emersoncaronan4953
      @emersoncaronan4953 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are doing a 1 fade the number 1 would be the lowest guard u would use. So no need for the half guard. Blending the 1 guard into the two is such a difficult technique. Most clippers open up to 2.5mm which means the clipper lever open wont get close enough to that number 1 which is a 3mm. A number 2 is a 6mm so blending the 1 guard into the two is really difficult but there are techniques u can use. U can flick out and use the heel of the guard to help blending or u can release the pressure u put on the scalp when cutting while using the corners of the blade to not create any new lines.

    • @ZSH12
      @ZSH12 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@emersoncaronan4953 thanks! Wdym by releasing the pressure, also how do I flick out to blend it?

      @thechileacademy4800 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@emersoncaronan4953 how would you recommend blending if I started with a 2 guard and working up. (I don’t like going with a no guard/1 guard)
      Would i just start with 2closed and then move to a 2open or should I only open the lever 1/4-1/2 way open? So like 2closed, 2 1/2 open 2 open. Etc

    • @ZSH12
      @ZSH12 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thechileacademy4800 hey, I literally gave myself a 2 guard fade yesterday! 😂😂
      What I'd recommend is you start to make your guide line (the first line) with the 2 guard closed
      Then skip to a 4 guard closed and get rid of the bulk in your hair but remember to flick out when going higher up ur head
      Then get your nunber 3 guard open, and go just below the 4 guard and flick out to not create another line
      Then go with your nunber 3 guard closed and flick out at the hard line you made at the beginning with the number 2 to soften up the line
      Then go with your number 2 guard (opened first) and flick out at the hard line to remove it, if it still isn't going, move to a number 2 half way closed or keep slightly closing it until its blended
      Hope this helped!

      So this is basically kinda what I do but I work bottom up but sometimes get the hard lines, especially further you where the hair is longer.

    I'd like to see something with a 2 guard on the sides and back. Perhaps if your hair gets long enough for a 2 guard, you could show how to use it on the the sides and back, and how to blend it with the top. Obviously if you want your hair shorter you can do that after you do the #2 guard haircut.
