I used to watch Ron Hein and Don Hein race in Roseburg, Oregon when I was a kid. Didn't know there was a Hein Family member still racing. One of my classmates told me that Matt Hein races. COOL!!!

From their Facebook page there was a photo of a radar gun with the following quote
David Casey According to my calculations with a lap time of 18.595 seconds (NEW TRACK RECORD by Jeff Montgomery) on a 5/8ths mile oval the average speed figures out to be 106.48 mph and the TOP SPEED IS 177.467 MPH I think your speed gun needs to be re-calibrated, better yet donate it to local law enforcement

I think you're wrong about that gun. The 177MPH was not a sustained speed but top speed and could have been attained in a very short distance even maybe within 100 ft. in the middle of a straight. About 15
years ago at Western Speedway they had one of those highway radar boards sitting on the inside edge of the track between the start finish line and the left hand pit entrance. Kenny Haskell and Trevor Montgomery were practising for the Daffodil Cup sometime around 2:30-3:00 in the afternoon and that board repeatedly posted a top speed of 149, 151 and change for Trevor, and 152 on Kennys last lap. Coming out of turn 4 full throttle to the radar board is a short distance but even those guys ..Deaver, Brown ran 13 second laps around that place. (Trevor still holds the track record). EvergreenSpeedway is a whole lot bigger than Western. I believe the gun.
