After we discovered Roger Ridley performing on the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica and asked him if we could record him singing the John Lennon version of Stand By Me, we were so blown away with his presence and enthusiasm toward music and people that we wanted to film his entire set. This song, "Bring It On Home To Me," Roger dedicated to Mark in that moment.

Playing For Change (PFC) is a movement created to inspire and connect the world through music, born from the shared belief that music has the power to break down boundaries and overcome distances between people. The primary focus of PFC is to record and film musicians performing in their natural environments and combine their talents and cultural power in innovative videos called Songs Around The World. Creating these videos motivated PFC to form the Playing For Change Band-a tangible, traveling representation of its mission, featuring musicians met along their journey; and establish the Playing For Change Foundation-a separate 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to building music and art schools for children around the world. So sad this artist gave so much.Each day he would drive far from home to play his music.He made soany people happy preforming his music.I only hope he didn't suffer before he died.He was from my hometown but he was alot older and had left before I was grown.To all that knew him knew a great person and artist.RIP ❤ FROM Ga

2021 and I suddenly remember him every year or so and come back and get sad there’s only a limited amount to voice

Singing in the street is an old tradition !there's always the street there's always a gig!s people mostly love it and I've seen some great musicians out there its freedom !freedom to start and freedom to leave when you've played out there and made your days money! no manager no tax and many a thank you from thankfull people who you've made feel a little bit happier on there way to work school or prison 😀why does he sing on the street ?because that's what he loves to do most !

This is so great!! His voice has every texture - velvety, scratchy, silky, shiny, plush, shimmery - all woven in his tapestry. And what a hard worker - no comfortable surroundings at a constant temperature and humidity, parades of people who don't have a soul and just pass him by, distractions by the thousands. Thank you, sir, for sharing your gift from God with us.
RIP great one, i booked Roger to perform a Christmas benefit for underprivileged kids in NYC at the Palladium, he tore the place down and sold me his live cassette, which ill always remember him by.

Isn't that amazing? I didn't even know Roger was already gone, since 2005! The first video of Playing for Change was uploaded years after his death. It's a great way to honor him as the truly amazing artist he was: to make sure his talent will be known worldwide. That's why I love this project.
