  • I was stung by a wasp on the back deck, a place I like to utilize frequently with my family for cooking, gatherings, and just tuning out. So after some reading, I found that wasps and Hornets are territorial, and wont come around other nests. Do Wasp Decoy Nests Work?
Lets try 3d printing a wasp decoy nest and see if we can protect ourselves without using other means.

Haven't seen a wasp or hornet in the area at all, but plenty of carpenter bees... Next video, flame thrower 3d print😅😅😅😅

I like wasps. Those deep red wasps ones aren’t actually a wasp. Tiny tiny demons

It seems that the affectiveness of there fakes is dubious, it might be worth looking into.

I wish I could carry one of those around to keep them away. I hate wasps!

It's been a few days, how's this working out?
I'm tempted to try it myself.

I haven't seen anything at all other than the carpenter bees. No wasps no hornets nothing within the backyard. Funny is they are actually in the front yard of the house though now, so I believe that 200 ft zone of territory is not exactly true for every species. I am going to make another one though and put it out front somewhere

I can attest that I usually get about 3-4 paper wasp nest under my wooden deck every year (very large deck). That translates to about 25' between nests.
I would suggest a second decoy under that deck.
I would love to hear your results regardless.

Interesting, I might try that out, and I think I have a paper off white color to print in that.

Your wasps are getting smarter and are already able to recognize that a ball-shaped paper bag (price: ~0.2 $/€) is not an actual nest?

This is 3d printed in PLA filament, not paper.

@@HelpfulHobbies That's my point. Wasting plastic, energy and time for something easily replaceable with a cheap bag.

Paper bag would be blown away by the wind, soaked by the rain, etc.
My PLA ($.35), electricity ($.03), and time (an hour to use Cura, print, and smoke a joint and relax) shouldn't bother you this much 😉
