Though to be ultra pedantic, the correct pronunciation is always open for interpretation as the meaning of "correct" holds next to no value. Dictionaries are actually really out of date on their pronunciation guides for most words as compared to what is actually used. You can find some funny examples of the "correct" way to pronounce common words that sound deranged in modern English because nobody uses those pronunciations anymore, even in formal settings. At the end of the day the correct pronunciation is the one your audience will understand the best and feels is the most natural. There is a tendency to replace many sounds with schwa's in English, which is the case for the common pronunciation of arcanist.
@@Vuurgeest ♥️ Just busy and poor haha, I went to record this weekend but unfortunately found it impossible with the kiddos around. I'll have something sometime that's for sure!!
Just wanted to tell you, I used the all access pass to play my first games of legacy and went to game 3 in the trophy match with UB murder machine solely because of your content. Woulda been nice to get the trophy, but I felt right at home because you’re so good at teaching your reasoning.
Up there with "Stifle the 'you lose the game' -trigger and then you don't lose the game, that's usually better than losing the game." The kind of insight only someone who has been playing for decades would have.
To survive in the overcrowded online content space, even the most humble gamer has to immediately announce to a new viewer who they are and why they're worth watching over the other options. Thanks for sticking around to recognize it. :)
I'm trying to think of ways to get creatures in the graveyard without relying on the opponent, it feels like most of them are just not good enough in their own right, except maybe Ledger Shredder? Lightning Axe is card disadvantage but maybe that's ok with Dreadhorde. Thought Scour works well with Dreadhorde but isn't particularly likely to hit a creature. Maximize Velocity is sorta interesting as another way to give Dreadhorde haste + discard outlet, but it's also card disadvantage, and kind of anemic in general. Maybe Village Rites? Snapcaster in particular doesn't mind being sacrificed, and if you bring it back it triggers again, plus it can be used in response to removal for card advantage + ensuring the creature goes to graveyard even if it was getting targetted by Solitude/Leyline Binding.
Adding on to the endless possibilities of cards that we're surprised about: Harmonic Prodigy seems like it would fit very well into this deck considering all of the wizards in the deck have triggers.
I'm honestly surprised to see Adeliz in this deck as opposed to Blamor, battlemage captain. It feels like that card does everything the deck wants, has better defensive stats, and flflying.
I mean 2 and three toughness are basically the same only thing is she’s lower cmc which is really strong but not dying to push without revolting is something ig? But I do agree with you
@@BoshNRollthat's entirely fair, but it also having flying, granting other creatures trample, and pumping the entire team might make it a consideration over stormchaser mage.
24:32 Snapcaster for flame, deal 5 and draw 2, if it resolves and you draw a land you can play the wizard's lightning to finish off the murktide. Relies on opponent not having a counter spell or bolt but gives you a chance.
I love DHA so much. My own standard brew nearly got me to mythic several seasons on arena untill it rotated out by burning my aggro opponent's creatures multiple times and 'flashing' back See the Truth through Narset against control. The Royal Scions and a sideboard Mu Yanling, Sky Dancer did a lot of work. Sadly after a few seasons the historic version I built got powercrept away. I tried again in explorer which was less bad but still had a hard time competing.
Have you considered trying out The Royal Scions? It triggers prowess on cast, helps loot for Arcanist and Snap, and also buffs Arcanist to cast FoA from the graveyard. I run x3 in my UR list and it is actually pretty dope.
Honestly the thing I think this deck is missing the most is some kind of faithless looting effect? Unfortunately all the super efficient ones are gone from modern, but being able to loot away Claim//Fame is so damn nice, esp when the 1 mana options can be recurred with Arcanist as well.
I would have built this by starting with Historic Wizards, which is a top 3 (and possibly top 1) meta deck in that format, and adjusting it for Modern. That deck runs 4x Reckless Charge in the Claim // Fame slot, 4x Expressive Iteration, and Jegantha. And they've universally come to a consensus that Balmor is better than Adeliz.
nice deck! thanks if you play more control/ value with the Soulscars out and more snappies, then you need the wizard bounce land here, riptide laboratory. mb even with sunken citadel manabase. but then cutting black makes sense and its a different deck ^^
If the deck needs to run Claim//Fame, it really does need something like a DRC or even Magmatic Channler to really set up the grave (Going DRC on T1 and setting up a hasty Dreadhorde on 3 seems pretty sick). Overall, I'd probably opt to cut Claim//Fame, Stormchaser, and Adeliz (Maybe even 1 Flame and Soulscar) in favour of some DRC, another Snapcaster (or 2), Vapor Snag (I love the card so much) and maybe even a Balmor (For that extra bit of spice).
Samut's Sprint is a pretty interesting way to abuse DHA. Let's you cadt a big spell around sorcery speed removal and is something to do later. Chart a Course both sets up your graveyard and is efficient to 'flash back' for two cards.
I think a playset of kroxa, torpor orb and claim to fame could be fun. After watching this match and seeing how useful claim was or could have been. so my deck idea is kroxa torpor orb dreadhorde archanist ligthning bolt thoughseize inquisition of kozilek death's shadow dark deal burning inquiry bowmasters ragavan sheoldred, of the apocolypse sheoldred's edict unearth claim to fame terminate hunted horror In some sort of mix. seems like it would be fun at least:)
I have a deck like this in historic and was thinking of porting it to modern. I run Symmetry Sage and had ring tempting which made dreadhorde almost unblockable.
You can try, Birthday Escape and Ranger's Firebrand to get full throttle on the rummaging. You will get to the 4levels of the ring extremely fast and make Arcanist having the skulk ability Nd dealing quite a heavy dmg.
As someone who has tried to mess around with arcanist with claim to fame, what are your thoughts on it with archmages charm as a counterspell that can be replayed to steal important permanents (saga tokens\amulets) or draw cards.
G4 I think you could have Spell Pierced your own Preordain which would have triggered the Adeliez giving you +1/+1 and they would not have gotten the extra ping on Bowmasters or the orc army growing. You brought up though them knowing about a spell pierce so then you wonder if they are sand bagging a terminate or fatal push though.
I know the whole "you're wrong" tirade at the end of match 1 is kind of a joke, but on the off chance you actually thought the lightning play was wrong, that looks like very results-oriented thinking. The lightning only answers azusa, which is at most two possible cards in their deck. It was 100% correct to push damage and hold up interaction. You had multiple decision trees after that with dress down and digging for an answer to azusa where you could have made different choices with the information you had. Those are much more ambiguous and I have no idea if any of those was right or wrong, but I am confident this deck was supposed to send that lightning to the dome.
(Before I hear any commentary), why no Expressive Iteration? Its a very powerful cantrip thats ALSO banned in legacy. With a Faim, you can cast it back from the graveyard as well.
