I played this game like 20 years ago at my cousin's. I remember my first character was Diablo or Sauron (A T-Rex one) then I got my ass handed to me by the Vertigo AI and since it also looked snake-like (my favorite animal) quickly became my favorite since I thought it was the best character.

Brian Snider The input to some of these are really messed up, but first step is to ensure you're far enough from your foe so you don't accidentally hit them. Then, follow the directions of the fatality input. keep in mind, most versions only have 2 fatalities per character, so the 3rd fatality may not work.
Since the winning text says Vertigo is a sorceress I have the theory that it is the alternative form of a human witch. That would make her my favorite character

this video is awesome. I played Primal Rage on Sega all the time when I was a kid, and Vertigo was always my favorite, 'cause I love COBRAS! English isn't my first language though, and for some reason me and my borther always called her "Vertiago" and we also pronounced "Talon" like "Taloon". Weird!

If anyone wants to know what the cheese means, it means that the moves you are using is not fair and it's a 'cheesy' move. Basically spamming moves like if you are using vertigo, and you spam mesmerize and the scorpion tail move
I would bet Balsafas would be a fit to being the 8th beast which would be a man. We probably dont see him now since he died of old age or from battle wounds or getting drained of his life banishing Vertigo. That’s my head canon :b

I have it on DOS, even though my laptop lags a bit, this game never does. I'm a novice fighting game player, yet in MKII remix I can actually be a bit crazy with Noob Saibot. Yes MKII remix is downloadable on laptop PC as well you should try it.
I didn't see the Whip the Tail combo. I suspect it's because this version of Primal Rage is not the most recent version. Or maybe it require a specific set of special moves to trigger it. I did use the mesmerize after the short chain with the tail grab with the tail whip being the end move. I used to do crazy long combos with Vertigo. But it got kinda boring dominating the game with Vertigo. Had to switch to Talon after a while for more variety.

The MAME version is kind of busted due to emulation and copy protection issues. This wouldn't work on an actual arcade machine.

I always choose vertigo because the reach advantage with the tail and spam the teleportation.

Talon was small but could easily slip to the inside and land real damage blizzard uppercut sent you flying if you ever had a chance to play this game.

The brain gauge is to make the monster lose consciousness if it takes too many hits as it does when it loses the second round
