I have a 2018 F450 Limited that has been my daily driver since day one and just ordered a 2024 F450 Limited. Truck works great as a DD

My F450 is driven 50% of the time. I've had it 10 months now.
We have a big 5th wheel Toy Hauler and live with Mountains in all directions when we head out with the trailer.
The 450 is for sure a reasonable daily driver and I actually prefer it over my Rubicon . Hopefully I will be splitting daily
duties with a 2024 Mustang GT.

Sweet brother, but they are so expensive lol. Getting ready to order either a 24 F250 XLT OR XL with the off road package. Both would be equipped with the 4.30 gear, 7.3, dual battery, inner front and rear wheel liners , mud flaps, spray in Bed liner, tailgate assist, running boards, crew cab, 6.75 bed, 2 KW power On Board, smart weight scales. The only thing I don't like about the XL is you can't get the console or power sliding and folding tow mirrors. What're your thoughts Shawn? Would be a personnel/work truck. Maybe some towing here and there. The price difference is 2015. 00 more (XLT) than the XLT.
Please do the testing on Regular mode. Does Eco mode pulls off the line much slower? I will not go back and forth between Regular and Eco mode in daily normal driving.
I have the 7.3 430 1st jumps out if you're careful. I can imagine what it is like with the diesel.
Installing adjustable upper bushings, provide a bit more (1 degree) Caster… improves the steering stability

well that truck is a 450 dually its meant to always be hooked up to a trailer not daily driven really. Not saying it cant but its definitely meant for towing
My 21 f450 has had a bad vibration in the rear over 65mph. Does that one have it as well or not? Ford says it’s normal to vibrate
Tires probably needs all 4 balanced
Not sure about going above 40 in 4h. Think they previously said 55. But on hard terrain. I wouldn’t take that risk especially the repairs will be about $7k

I have a 2020 f450 king ranch. I run Toyo m655 tires 245/75R19.5 studded in winter on stock rims. Works awesome in winter
If I own a truck without a low 1st gear, I deem the truck useless. How are the brakes on that thing? Also what's the legality on parking, can you legally double park a dually?
The brakes are awesome. The truck has very large rotors. You can definitely tell the difference.
Truck fits in one parking spot. But I always double park. Haven't had an issue

@DS-TRUCKS that's good to hear. I've been hearing some people with f450s have to put wheel balancers or change tires. Did you have to do anything to make it ride good? I ordered an 450 and I'm just trying to make plans.
My dream f450 but Too quiet
The F450 compared to F350 Dually the gear: 4.30 vs 3.73… can’t get 4.3 on F350 6.7 Dually. You can reduce gear on F450 and give little better overall fender well view in my opinion by increasing the tire size a little over an 1.4", 225/70 19.5 to 245/70 or 2" on 265/70 19.5. This reduces Final Drive Gear to around 4.1-4.0 depending on tire. For most, that doesn’t impact Tow ability considering F350 uses 3.73. It also lifts Truck about an 1" and fills wells a bit more… no clearance issues. Plus, the Michelin tires ride & perform better. Using ForScan, you can recalibrate the Speedo for larger tires.
The 245/70 gives you the 4.1-4.0 or the 265/70 dose?, I should have my 450 in a couple weeks and I’d love to get closer to the 3.73 ratio
@@church991depends on tires… I used a site that compared the OEM 225 to 245 & 265. With rims only 6”, I’ve moved away from 265 for safety reasons. Some commercial shops won’t mount the 265 on the narrow 6” rim, in fear it’ll not always hold. On Ratio: Several tires of same size had significantly different diameters.
I went with 22.5 6.75 Wheels by NorthStar… look, exact copy (or same) as the Alcoa. They now make a F450 10x225 Lug pattern so no added weight adapters, direct bolt on.
That allows a 255/70R-22.5 that adds little over 5” (2.5” lift). That reduces gear to about a 3.90. I went with Goodyear Fuel Max RTD: 16 ply, same speed rating as 16 ply OEM. You gain a little more sideway, and the 22.5 wheels really set it off.

@@church991 I don’t know how to attach a photo of ft fender with tires. I mounted them up to check, before I started installing the ReadyLift 2.5" Spring lift kit. No contact or concerns on ft of tire and ft fender area. The rear of Ft Tire slightly contacted the OEM Ft Mud flap, it extends a good distance inside the ft fender. Trimming it off after the last inner mounting bolt should resolve.
The tires are significantly taller, but only about 3/4-1" wider so the wide tire problems aren’t an issue. The 22.5" 10x225 Wheels are beautiful, polished on both sides allowing for rotations. The offset of wheels is slightly deeper so the tires remains about in same distance from within fenders… they don’t stick outside fenders, looks near OEM.
This is a new project… still in process, so I can’t comment on towing, but I doubt gear reduction to 3.90 will have much negative impact… personally I feel it’ll have more positive. The 4.30 seems a little too stiff for me, the 3.90-3.95 is a happy middle between F350’s 3.7 and 4.30. Both OEM & Goodyears are 16 ply, so the slightly taller sidewall in my opinion feels a little smoother. The tread is almost twice the OEM at 25/32, but noise seems less and response feels better or same. Bridge aprons and holes are smoother with the larger diameter tires.
Two negatives, at 37" a spare won’t fit in tire well. I’m planning to have my spare shaved to just under 36" (1/2"… 16/32) to fit well.
The weight of 22.5 commercial tires is significantly more than 19.5’s… that has benefits but they are very hefty to man handle. I picked up a nice tire dolly to handle both 19.5 & 22.5… makes it so easy & simple. The Steel Inners are about 50 lbs heavier than the Aluminum… adding to tire weight.
Also learned you can turn on, activate the on-board TPMS in Truck. I ordered the Ford TPMS sensors, and activate the TPMS system on Truck… takes 4 Aluminum & 3 Steel… but steel sensors come with too small valve for 22.5 steel valve hole. So it was a simple fix to tap & die the included valve stems (brass) to fit the Sensors mounting bolt. The activation of TPMS with ForScan is an upcoming project… still to be determined if all workable… some Posts have indicated can’t consistently read TPMS through commercial tires.
@@dougcjohn let me confirm to make sure I’m understanding this correctly, you say this setup increases the tire size to 37”? This seems quite large. And this 2.5” lift is required to fit this setup plus minor trimming to the ft mud flap, I’m hesitant to modify the stock suspension height as my plan for this truck is to eventually do a bed swap to a north star SD service body as my daily work rig, I’m not opposed to going up to a 22.5 wheel but I’d like to run the max tire size for stock suspension. My knowledge on differential gearing is limited so I’m not sure if regearing down to a lower ratio is a thing or possible for this truck, my previous truck I had made the mistake of modifying the suspension and running 35x12.5’s on 3/4 ton Chevy and had tons of wear and tear and overall poor ride quality that’s my only concern is that I’d be ruining a 110k truck. I should be taking delivery end of next week hopefully and judge how the 4.30 gearing drives but if it’s anything like the ram 5500’s I definitely want to do something to make it comfortable at 70-80mph for long drives. For country people yes, driving unloaded in city is ridiculous.
Why? It’s the same thing as a 350 but with a better front axle for tight turning. It’s actually significantly more useful in a city than a 250/350
Love my pickup but i got the wife a 2021 suburban premier, i will never not own a suburban after transitioning to one.
