There's a ton of different types of gold out there. Some gold from certain parts naturally has a hue of that sort. I honestly love RG if done 'right'. Rolex EverRose for example is the sexiest shit ever made, however, I do agree here I'd just go with the classic chain and not the rose.

Rose gold is just gold melted down with a small amount of copper. If it doesn't hold its shine it's not real gold.
Rose gold isn’t plated like white gold. It should never lose shine aside from maybe just scratches like regular gold
