From what ive played of this mod you can time your attacks let certain ones go out longer etc. if you wait a bit and learn the different animations you can pump out alot more dmg and it feels alot better since hitting attack again will cancel most animations
This reminds me so much of the Vile campaign in MM: Maverick Hunter X, right down to the power-ups doing something different than they do in the hero story, the enemies being harder for no specific reason, and playing through the same story without interfering with it (somehow). The villain always gets the cooler moves and combat system.
This is an amazing video! The only thing I would suggest is a headsup in the beginning that this took so much time it became a 2 part video instead of on the end; other then that it was amazing entertainment as always
How did you fix the Unverse bug i didnt get my party members at all, and all 7 wonders dont work either. I dont what im doing wrong its running but im getting these bugs it annoying
I will always respect the insane work xad puts into his mods but watching this reminded me of why I never really got into the vanitas mod. It's so extra it hurts to look at sometimes. Like why does the dodge need 6 effects on it? It's just shit like that piled on in a lot of elements that ultimately makes the game unnecessarily hard to read while you're trying to play. I think he has been improving over time as this mod isn't quite the screen disaster of the custom final form sora fight he made where it's less a boss and more of a collection of visual effects and the lock on symbol so you have some concept of where you're supposed to be aiming your attacks. Some parts of this mod can reach that point but it isn't the constant assault on your eyeballs. More than that it really does feel like this mod was overtuned to what Xad personally enjoys in a gameplay experience, which has a tendency to make certain things less fun and more obnoxious to try and play through when you are unaware of the things the fights are sort of designed around. Demyx especially feels unfun because past a certain point the "additions" to the difficulty just make it hard to even tell whats going on and end up just kind of shoehorning you into one particular solution because you can't find anything else that really works. I know xad didn't design the fights these ways intentionally and there are other ways to approach them but it doesn't feel that way because they err a bit too far on the side of unintuitive. And it also doesn't help that Vanitas is not a character you really "control" in the same way you can with Sora. Ninten said it pretty well with "It's really hard to know precisely where' you're gonna go and where the boss is gonna go and everything." To a certain extent it doesn't matter too much with how wild vanitas' combos can go but at the same time it just doesn't feel that good to me personally.
@@the2401 A little less loose. The way DMC works is directional inputs based on a locked on target so there's alotta control but once you get the hang of it yes you can pull off similar spectacles.

also certain moves have different attacks if you move while doing them and they do *crazy* damage

Yes, its very old, but god damn is it a banger.
The Vanitas mod was being worked on until just 2 or 3 years ago, after which the modder started making their Aqua mod.
