I would love to see y’all attempt to design this. Every texture, layer, and piece is so thought out, and yes you’re paying for the name and experience, but you become a part of those who set the trends, and not the ppl who absorb the aftermath (knockoffs, shoes inspired by the dad sneaker trend, etc)
I just got the track hike and I’m just blown away at the beauty. They almost look like something that should just be admired and not worn. Sneaker design is not easy. Also not to mention.. who else has the audacity to even make a shoe so crazy??

These in particular are a clean shoe. $800 price tag is there so that it holds a sense of exclusivity for the buyer. Gives them that “you ain’t got these” feeling

You can say the same about most sneakers really. Nike, NB, adidas, they all do it. Not as much as balenciaga, but still. Selling 10$ sneakers for 150$. Ok, add R&D and marketing. That's 30$ tops.

Shoe looks so much better in person! I’m sure most saying they’re ugly need to try them on in person and give it a try. So much detail and layers are in this sneaker.
Completely disagree. Balenciaga's are much higher quality than your average sneaker. The materials they use on the track trainer are superb compared to regular athletic shoes made by companies like Nike. The price is justified compared to cheap Jordan 1's that people pay resell for just because they're artificially scarce.

Never understood why these are so expensive. They look like Salomon running shoes (which isn't meant to be a bad thing). What bothers me the most is that Balenciaga is cool with resting on the brand name instead of putting something out that is actually innovative in some meaningful way.
Sean Tyree I think balenciaga is at the forefront of new concepts, and not just using there brand name, they broke new ground with the triple S and the amount of layering/panelling on this shoe is something new as well. While the silhouette is reminiscent of a Salomon or Hoka for example, There construction is vastly different

You hit it on the button. They look similar to a pair of Solomon trail shoes that I've had for years. Need to dig those things out of my closet. They were buried for a reason...to busy of a design. Sturdy though. I paid $80. Ha!

It's all status quo. I'm all set with these, you can get better comfort from the Nike prestos for a fraction of the cost. Like the saying goes by what you like and F**k the hype. Thanks again for the review FS!

Build quality generally is better but yes a lot of due to branding and to fit in with that world.
Can you appreciate the layers planned to be placed. Layer by Layer. It's beautiful. Although this is not my favorite colourway.

I prefer GOAT over StockX. The reason is that Stock will send you a flawed or blemished authentic sneaker, GOAT would let me know before sending me the shoe if it had any flaws and give me the choice if I still wanted it. It cost a little more, but who wants a flawed shoe, especially if it's expensive.
Darin N it actually depends. I started to like Goat more because I could actually buy used sneakers for way less and in good condition. And now that Goat doesn’t tax (and now StockX does), as far as price is concerned StockX is losing in that arena

I like the shoe, it's all over the place and pretty wild, although I like the more plain colorways, to create contrast with the amount of layers they have.

Have you checked out the Reebok DMX Trail Shadow in comparison to these Balenciaga trainers? They are only $200 and under depending on the colorway. They look similar.

you're paying for an idea. its like going to a Michelin started restaurant and paying hundreds of dollars for a meal. Yes the quality is good. Yes the craftsmanship is good or the way the ingredients are put together, but at the end of the day you're paying for the story that the chef was trying to tell with the meal and the reputation of the restaurant. Balenciaga is the same, you're paying for them to be able to take tradition shoe designs and reimagine them into something innovative just like Michelin starred chefs do with traditional cultural cuisines.
marketing cost, limited releases, limited numbers per release, brand name ... and they want to cash in max on the buyer’s market without that surplus going to resellers! Nike and Adidas have millions of ‘normal affordable sneakers’ feeding their topline. Balenciaga has a limited sneaker line for their topline, but bigger margins. Total cost % is also higher though due to the smaller size of the company. Bottomline: other business model, different type of target market.

When it comes to sneakers. Stick with actual sneaker/sports brands. People have been wearing Nike, adidas , Reebok etc since their inception. Designer sneakers are just fads.

SYA Playz designer sneakers are pure hypebeast. They always find their way to sneaker channels and sites that usually provide content on mainstream sneaker brands.. the thing is 3-4 years from now no one will be wearing those sneakers or the chunky platform sneaker . They’ll move on to whatever designer is hot at that moment. But the rest of us will still be rocking Jordan’s and AirMax for ever

You nailed it,its simply due to the name and that is all which will adhere to that small niche market that thrive off of it.
High fashion brands clothing products and shoes are worth/made for on average 8% of the retail price. A £465 pair of simple Gucci trainers are made for £37 basically give or take. The high mark up is to pay for they're exspensive fashion shows, adverts, marketing and high rent building they use for their shops and offices.

The only good thing in the shoe realm that Balenciaga has put out is the Speed Trainer. Those were so innovative that basically every other brand decided to start making sock sneakers. Something has to be said for that. Speaking of Speed Trainers, I've got some crispy reviews on the Triple Blacks and the White/Black if anyone is interested in checking out my channel! In business, Actually when we buy things, were not buying the product but the brand. Balenciaga has a strong branding making them to be able to sell their item at high price.
Another example is starbuck they might have one of the best branding, every time we think of coffee, the first thing comes up is Starbuck.

Most jewelry designers would claim a category of brand selling, aside from line category (luxury, midline etc), Fractal (season and limited edition), others, sell Technology. But this one is Craftsmanship or Artistry. No other sneaker gets this design. Illusion of 3 in 1 shoe, character and color punch. If you buy a 600USD to 900 shoe, might as well have a character!

The issue is comfort!!!! My first high end sneakers were the all black Gucci imprime, all leather... they didn't crease for like half a year and I wore the fuck out of them....Nikes can't do that
I actually own these exact color ways and in this crazy world where everything is outrageously over priced they are worth every penny. I paid much less than half retail so that plays into it. I love balenciaga and you can feel a difference in the sneaker compared to a nike. Hey, I love my Robinson’s but these are great. If you can get them for $400 or less, go for it. I think you will love them as much as I do.

The only Designer sneakers (Trainers as they're known here across the pond in the UK) are the Adidas Y-3 Yohji Yamamoto boxing, I've had them over a decade but they're still going strong, although I don't wear them that much now. I do like your Balenciaga Track sneakers but don't think they're worth the amount of money they want for them, I imagine the soles of them will be a nightmare to clean should you ever need to as well 👌
Balenciaga understand that there are people willing to pay ridiculous amounts for a pair of shoes so they use that in combination with their brand name to overcharge for a pair of basic sneakers.
