Funny thing is ive been attempting sm64 recently and its so much harder, just looks easier, meanwhile I’d say as long you can get your head around the hidden mechanics of this game it’s very responsive and fun. Herbmessiah has great tutorial vids on some of the stuff in the run
its fascinating how only parts of the level load when you reach some triggers instead of them always showing. a nice trick to keep it easy to run and smooth!
Yeah hakita briefly talked about how the loading system works in the game and its so cool, for most instances when a door opens it loads that room and when the door closes behind you it unloads that room but theres all sort of exceptions and rules for it you can abuse. Its so sick
@@soPuls 5:19 was prob my favorite example of you doing that as it shows it in action. i also really dig how you hit respawn at checkpoints to get the health back as well ready for more blast jumps. . i keep trying to core eject jump but the TF2 rocket jumping in me keeps ruining it. :P
@@soPuls only times it has been bad is in meat grinder when you can visibly see the body parts spawn in above the ground then fall down onto the ground and roll around a bit in the swordsmachine areas
Some of the clips are pretty awkward but they’re all consistent, its just the fast setups are janky. It definitely is super fun to run though! If you need any help there’s tons of people including me in the ULTRAKILL discord who’d love to help

Bro how do you consistently clip through 3-1, I manage sometimes but I can't figure out why I sometimes go through and sometimes I need like a minute of spamming?
It was already a really awkward and inconsistent clip in previous patches but the most recent one has made slide clipping there basically impossible, I’d highly recommend jumping then dashing into roughly the same spot since that seems to be more consistent this patch.
It’s called filth clipping, with a precise angle and the right setup you can get filth to clip you out of the map, i use the core eject to kill two of them but not the third to make the clip more consistent
This speedrun is more like an aftermath speedrun, a new game plus lets say. I really expected the coin flip spam to get more aggressive in the first stages, nice work!
Herbmessiah has a really good video on the mindflayer instakill but basically as long as there is an explosion around the mindflayer when it spawns the ring of projectiles all of the projectiles are reflected inward, killing the mindflayer
@@mauroghen9157 also what happened there was a coin add, basically if theres enough hitstun from a railcoin (shooting a coin through an enemy so that it reflects back to the enemy) you can very quickly switch back to the marksman revolver and “add” coins to the railcoin. You usually need 2 coins to get enough hitstun to add coins but since the railcoin goes through both cerberus’ it gives you enough hitstun off of one coin

This is super cool! Ive recently started playing ultrakill and I was hoping you could answer some questions I have. 1, where is somewhere I can learn how to speed run this game? I already know some techniques like slam storage and what not but there is obviously much more in this run. 2, I noticed that you two shot the face on 0-4, how did you do that? It usually takes me much more to kill them
yeah sure so basically first off you can join the discord that's in the game's main menu and ask around in the speedrun channel of the discord as well as check the pins in the speedruns channel, or herbmessiah has quite a few video guides on various tech. The MaF in 0-4's first arena you can quickkill by charging the green pump once/twice then quickswapping and shooting it again at very close quarters, mainly bc the shotgun gets really bad damage drop off against MaF or something i'm not sure.
@@soPuls not quite damage dropoff but the MaF take the same damage as a shotgun parry at all times if your point blank, which you were. also shotgun parries exist if you didnt know (although seeing as you broke reality in many ways to save time i bet you already know about that)

This game is so tight that any% looks mostly like glitchless and doesn't divert much from a usual game loop
I love that sometimes the audio in the game is so broken that it only makes random sounds halfway
I think seeing death at 20,000 volts be done in less than 30 seconds when it took me like an hour to get less then a minute was satisfying
