Its impressive how he almost NEVER looks back when he does attacks, he just has that much trust in the weapon mechanics that he doesn’t look to make sure they’re dead
im assuming he managed to memorize all the kills required per level segment to be capable of looking at the timer/killcount and go "yep thats about right"
as someone who Speedruns ULTRAKILL I can tell you that is exactly what happens@@notTerabyte I just know that at the end of this room, or by this arena, I need to have X kills, Example in 0-3 with the first Swordsmachine Fight. I need to have 48 kills before I get to the Swordsmachine Boss Door, That and there are all of the individual rooms, like the first tall room is 6 kills, next room with the 4 strays means we get 10 kills, Then the 3 schisms for 13 kills. Then that longer room behind the rock with the filth, Strays, and then Schisms, 24 kills. Then 4 filth and one stray before the long room with the crushers and the insta-death fan, you need to leave that room with 46 kills in total. But with the Set up for that room you use a nuke, and let one of the schisms burn to death, which means it might take until you get the Boss door, which you would have 48 kills because of some extra strays, leaving you with 48 kills going into the boss door, with the SM making 49 kills for the P rank.
Did he just casually enter the 4 fastest leaderboards in 4 maps in a speedrun, and beat a world record of P-Ranking EVERYTHING in violent difficulty at the same time!? This man has surpassed the human limit... HE'S A BEAST!
As great as single-stage speedruns are, endurance runs like this will always be so much more impressive to me. The only restart was because of mindflayer room, for the whole 30 minutes? I don't care how many milliseconds you can shave off v2, not fucking up once for half an hour straight is so much cooler
Yeah, the skill ceiling is incredibly high. In some games, being good enough and knowing some tech can make you competitive. Ultrakill is on the level of fighting games like Smash Bros though. People have been constantly improving at Melee over the last 20 years. In a similar amount of time, I'm sure the speed runs for this game will be unrecognizable.

@@siromnoms im not into the genre either, i would argue that banging pots and pans is the perfect soundtrack for ultrakilling, it just works surprisingly well for certain stuff

The thing that impresses me the most is how they're keeping perfect track of how many kills they should have by certain points in the stage. Especially in really dense stages like Limbo-3 or Lust-2 with a lot of tiny rooms and a high enemy count across the stage
Every shot and every attack is placed methodically and strategically. Your effortless dance from level to level demonstrates that you have not only mastered the game as a sport, but as an art. You have transcended the skill ceiling in a way no Ultrakill player could ever achieve.
There is something about this video that fascinates me and scratches my brain in a new way. Like the first time i watched it i was just glued to the screen the entire time. "In the first age, in the first battle, when the shadows first lengthened, one stood. He wore the crown of the Night Sentinels, and those that tasted the bite of his sword named him... the Doom Slayer."
I like the idea of Gabriel looking at hell being emptied in half the time of a feature length film, then fighting that machine twice and dying in an instant, and all the while he is styling.
