“Looks like someone had their period on this one” 😂
LOL, yeah I laughed but that was a nasty visual 🤢
The fact they are a store does not give them a pass from cleaning/testing. In fact, it should hold them to a higher standard/expectation of selling with higher prices. Its like they pulled all these carts from a wet dumpster and boxed them up.
Ebay resellers get such a bad reputation, and there are a lot of bad ones out there. But I clean and test everything I sell and take so many pictures. I have to compensate because I'm not a large or well-known store.
And if you watch their TH-cam channel they often talk about cleaning the carts/consoles before they go out. They made a big todo about buying an expensive machine for cleaning cd games. Not sure what that's about.
Oh wow. I've delt with these guys for a few years now and have always had great experiences. I know the last time I was able to visit the store they were getting in multiple 100s of games trades. Maybe their TH-cam grow has overwhelmed their routines but you couldn't ask for a better retro store to deal with
The quality on a lot of those is inexcusable. I've been buying so much retro this past year and Ebay is really the way to go for online. You can see good pictures of the condition and a lot of the auctions actually open the carts and take pics of the boards. I just got Batman on NES this week for $8 and it's in fantastic condition and bagged.
I use eBay and mecari almost exclusively to buy used carts I Wana collect. Always get a great deal.
@ihaveawokenhaveyou665 I have had bad luck with mercari. I just stick to buying/selling on ebay
You definitely got lucky on that cartridge at good condition its definitely worth around 12 bucks
How many of those cartridges are authentic though?
@@mibombon11 I only buy authentic ones. They say when they are a repro.
The Link game looks good. When I seen the Duck Hunt game. It reminded me many years when I was at a comic convention, there were vendors with video games. One vendor had cases of Duck Hunt. He was selling them for
$ 1 dollar.
If you are ever in Denver, Level 7 is the plug! I travel 8 hours from the midwest and always stop by one of their locations... a must visit for retro collectors!
Holy hell! That McVans video game trader is from Ft.Wayne, IN! Dave McVan started it back in the early to mid 90's. One of the first in the area to trade video games. My parents used to take me up there(45 min. drive) about once a month. Man those were the days!
You have to wash the plague off your items before shipping. That’s crazy how dirty some of these are
Decent customer service is hard to find these days from any company
This is actually a store local to me here in Owensboro, KY. They recently blew up because of TikTok and TH-cam. I've had a decently positive experience with them my last time I was in there. They were the only place in town that had Smash Ultimate for the Switch. I called and they quoted me one price only to get there and find it a few dollars more. No big deal. You'd think they'd at least try and clean some of the cartridges that come in. I'd reach out to them and see if they'd make it right, the guy that owns the shop is a pretty good dude from my own personal experience.
Like a real store you can walk inside and shop in? Not like DKOLDIES?
@@PaperBanjo64 Yep, it's one of those hole-in-the-wall, tiny type of places. A lot to choose from though.
@JustAnotherDude1986 nice, there's a good game shop in Elizabethtown Kentucky called TF Games...they even have some Sega Saturn stuff!

They literally did you dirty. Man. This is why i need to see them in person.
We had McVan’s in my town, local mom & pop place, I would love to have that!!
These are the guys who have those really fun videos, right? They seem to indicate they are cleaning and fixing tons of stuff... this is really disappointing. They seemed so much more real compared to some of the other companies.
Had that 72 in multi as a kid traded castlevania 4 for it. Loved it it had the 2 player tetris and alot of games not released.
I have personally done alot of buying/selling at the castle. Always been a great experience and any issues (very few at that) they sorted out quick. When buying 30yr old games, better to ask for pictures or leave a note saying your after condition. Alot of people just want to play games and saving a few dollars is better.
So I live in Denver, there's a great online store here, Retro Gaming Of Denver. They have good prices and pretty good selection
I wonder how many of these carts will show up on the MadLittlePixel Shop.
Am so glad I keep my nes games from when I was a kid
Jesus, my convention prices are half that... wow
DK Oldies charges more and their games are as dirty if not dirtier. They don’t “refurbish” jack.
Yeah, I admit we all have our embarrassing looking cartridge games that are normally expensive, but can be cheap in the sacrifice of the condition itself is in.
I used to rent Yo Noid! all the time, I could never get that far in the game so I kept going back to it lol
One day I will own a Gold NES Legend of Zelda. Might have to go the repo route with Ali as I want a nice gold cartridge with no black. I'm not into collecting but thats one I really want
I don't like that a dirty LTTP cart was sold for over $30, especially since it was cart only
Dude you should redo them turtles ones in translucent green cartridges.
Man your earthbound is dank
and IMHO great choices on the NES games but I'd miss the boxes and manuals - and you're just making more work for yourself trying to track down the box and manual or buying a CIB then reselling stuff
That store's been dumpster diving. Send that crap back!
For the amount of games and total price you would think they’d pick better copies or a discount at least.
In my experience, it is rare when the seller cleans a console or a game.
I’ve bought from Jason for over 8 years now on everything from cartridges to disc, to full consoles, peripherals and both buying and selling. He has always done it with a smile on his face and good intention and I’ve never had to question anything because I know he will right any wrong. For being a 3 person family business I think what they are able to do with such fast growth is very impressive and I know that he would take care of any issues but it sucks that instead of going the route of a real person you are trying to bash a good person and good company. This just seems like a very scummy tactic to use.
Late night shopping on the gummies get me everytime. Ggw videos oh my.
you paid more than A DOLLAR FOR A SPORTS GAME. i guess the shops weren't the only ones losing there mine with these prices
I'm a baby man and I just order from places until I find something to complain about so I look cool on TH-cam in front of a bunch of other babies. Wahhhhhh.
Crazy. Most of those games are worth no more than 10 bucks. I've seen better conditions in yard sales.
Hey @Madlittlepixel, after getting done cleaning the carts, can you do a video on testing the games and see if they still works? I might need to look at the testing video to see it works before I look at the games to buy them at their store website? I still do clean my used Carts and Discs Copies with Wipes to make them clean in my house and my non-used consoles. But looking at the video, I definitely need to buy those Alcoholic Cleaning to clean the pins and use my Qtips for cleaning them.
I actually had that thought while opening the carts and cleaning them a moment ago, I am almost done cleaning the NES carts.. But figure ill clean em all up then do a follow up testing every single one. I dont use qtips or alcohol to clean carts, so maybe ill do a quick explanation of what I do as well in the video.
I'm on the fence cuz on one side its considered Patina yet it also feels like buying sight unseen from an Estate auction.
I prefer to buy from ebay and look for actual pictures of the item or items and full description and usually find cheaper prices. I understand that one still must be careful, but I have avoided the bad experiences so far.
Id be sending all that back
Please do not play that Bart vs. The Space Mutants. I had a cracked copy of TMNT and played it in Classiq HD. When I pulled the cartridges, it destroyed my pins on the system. I would hate to think what that would have done to my original hardware. Great video as always. Thanks for sharing you experience on this place. This is one of the reasons why I still hunt
Drawing comparisons of a small mom & pop to an operation like DK Oldies is wild. If you asked for pictures on previous orders you were happy with why didn’t you do the same with this order?
My city had a couple Mcvans. I thought that store was pricey 20 years ago
dirty games...eh...if they work that's what's really important. but if they have worn labels they should discount it. I like buying games locally. Ebay on just rare occasions. I have a handful of local shops, and most of them are on par with pricecharting values.
Gotta watch out for those late-night buzzed-up impulse online purchases my dude 😄
Those games were nasty, dude. I would have been pissed. The only redeeming factor would have been if the really bad looking ones were like $3 a piece.
Is it possible to put the PCBs in a ultra sonic cleaner or would it damage them?
Sure you could, I probably wouldnt recommend it though as some people would just go for it and wind up causing damage to there system by being impatient, and really most carts shouldnt need to have to go to that extent to get em cleaned... But I actually did this once a couple years ago with a really messed up N64 game, had a lot of grime, corrosion, and what seemed like dried syrup all through the board, was difficult getting it cleaned by hand, but running it through an ultra sonic cleaner worked wonders.
I hate how common it is to sell dirty stuff. Reminds me of getting old games off eBay. I gotta clean every thing I get. Feels like they could just put in a little more effort and raise customer satisfaction.
OH MY GOD THIS IS MY LOCAL STORE LMAO
Tell them about this video. Ask why they don’t clean stuff, at least the outside.
I imagine they have a return policy. But it's a bummer when you get something all grimy/corroded pins when you pay pricecharting value. For those prices I go to my local retro store.
Are they the same as Castlemania?
to me the games working matters more than condition. theyre already second hand so i dont expect perfect condition.
Have you ever gone to Game Dude in north Hollywood? I haven’t been in probably 20 years but it was pretty cool back in the day
Thank god for emulators i have no need for ancient relics in my house😂
Even as someone who prefers playing these games on their respective consoles, with a proper controller, I still don't understand why people spend crazy amounts of money to have piles of nasty looking 2nd hand carts sitting around when Everdrives exist...
I use a everdrive n8 pro on my nes top loader. And a sd2snes for the super nes. Everdrive x7 for sega genesis. No need to buy carts.
I bought blind a bunch of PC Engine games from Japan, but thankfully I was very happy.
Since you didn't mention anything to the contrary, is it safe to assume everything works properly?
Havent tested them yet, but tomorrow I will be recording a video testing each one. I wasnt going to put these in my systems until theyd been properly cleaned.
People complaining about 35+ year old tech being dirty need to get a grip lol
Eww those games looked GROSS! Good to know because I was contemplating purchasing some games from them.
Haa! 9:28
"I shouldn't have bought all these."
For the prices I'm hearing you maybe shouldn't have bought any of those. Run an emulator for about 20 minutes each with most of those titles and get the urge out of your system, these games aren't going to get more valuable in most cases because they're already priced too high to begin with, I can understand wanting these hard copies but I just can't get past the way it's being done these days.
It's Absurdly ridiculous and people are just giving their money to greedy assholes that don't give a damn about you or what you're buying, if they thought they could get away with it they'd send empty shells to half the orders.
Kung Fu...
My name is Yeff! 💀
There is no way any of those games were tested. I get it cut corners saving time/effort/money it would cost because 98% of these old games will work anyway after cleaning the pins.
They pass on the labor to the customers, knowing most people will clean the pins rather than return the dirty games.
It is absolutely shameful for a video game specific seller to provide such a low effort service.
Yo noid was sick. Don't forget to notify me when you make a video on it
Secret Castle should use some of that adsense money to get some isopropyl alcohol and some cotton swabs 💀
Wow, I'm surprised a game store would ship them out in that kinda of condition, and they had the balls to put I'm a thank you card and ask to give them a 5 star review, or a review at all. That is poor quality merchandise, and bad customer service. Hopefully they see your channel, if they know you have one, and reach out to you and give you 50% of your money back for sending out merchandise that looked that ad, did they even state the condition of all these carts when you bought them?
The condition just said loose cart, i notice some listings will say FLAW if there is a problem with it, like damage or label issues.. but none of these were listed as flawed.
@Madlittlepixel , and that's my point, since they didn't say flawed on the listing, they should give 50% of your money back, if I were the owner I would be embarrassed to send out such flawed copies without stating they are
Not a complaint, but just noting fyi there is a quiet aliasing behind the audio. Showing up on the 1080p60 version on android phone through headphones. If you're looking to improve the audio. Or, if not, who cares? I just noticed and thought I'd mention, and give a little bump to engagemometrics.
Hmmm, now that I typed that, by the gold cart Zelda, it seems the aliasing has died off.
Dude I love those Ken Griffey snes games
2 games in and I can't stress enough just how much of the NES catalogue is worth less than $5 a game, it's absurd people are charging so friggin much for these games that you couldn't even give away 10+ years ago.
Now all these cheap jerks are going around over charging for this stuff and it's just going to get worse until everyone else starts exercising a little restraint, I know modern gaming kinda sucks at the moment but that doesn't mean we should be spending so much on these games most of us didn't want just a short while ago. It's all going to end up like Beenie Babies pretty soon and some are going to hate themselves for spending so much on it.
Someone told me one time they had a friend playing Nintendo back in the day while eating Cheetos while playing Bugs Bunny Birthday Blowout and later found Cheetos pieces by the Nes chip were he was earlier blowing in the cartridge.
Man do I miss the old days where most every yard sale had dozens of great NES games 10 for $1 lol
Some of those are completely unacceptable, but it's the same with DK. These volume resellers need to at least take the letter grade approach with what they sell and have pricing tiers based on that. It's BS to pay the same amount for the same game while one buyer gets a B grade and another gets a torn label with corroded pins.
Homie sellers on EBay don’t even touch Gamepad Tester 😂🤦♂️
Returned 2 controllers both with Drift this week, 2 different sellers.
Weak at Resale, sticking with New Controllers FNO 🦍
I always want to see what I am buying if not I will not going to buy.
what would it cost them to have one guy clean these games ? is it really that hard ? i mean this is horrible, how can they sell such dirty stuff and at these prices ? i think this is a place to avoid like the plague....and maybe avoid the actual plague from buying this shady stuff.
It can be time consuming to clean to perfection... but you dont need to clean to perfection everything that comes in the door. If the pins look good and the cart boots up that saves 95+ % of the time cleaning. Just do a nice wipe down of the shell, quick swipe of the pins just to clear dust. If the pins look bad it takes 30 seconds to open and clean, polish the pins. It adds time... and thats a cost for a business... but it also keeps customers coming back. If a cart comes in the door looking horrible... dont take it in... or sell it at a bargain price as a not tested cart or something... but everything else needs to be presentable... I went into this video thinking it was going to be a good experience due to my previous purchases... but I was wrong... definitely doesnt make me want to go back to them.
12:26
Those prices weren't "decent" they just seemed like it when compared to even more ridiculous pricing.
Don't you literally already have access to all these games in another format? I can understand wanting to support certain games or titles but you aren't doing that by spending so much on carts being sold by some jerkoff that had nothing to do with creating them and most likely got their stock by severely under paying for it from other people that most likely just needed help paying a bill or something.
I'd really only spend my money on stuff like this when it comes from someone I know or a business that I know or feel isn't ripping everyone off.
Especially after this and places like DK Oldies, I wish they'd go out of business and be taken over by more decent people that hold their transactions to a higher standard.
I saw those Secret Castle vids and I thought they were annoying and off. Honestly I was hoping to be wrong but wasn't. I wouldn't do business with them.
If you have time, drive to GAME DUDE in North Hollywood.
Yeah been there, a cool store thats been around for ever. May do a video about them at some point next time I make it out there.
@@Madlittlepixel indeed. Grew up around that area, used to trade my games to them back in the day.
I feel like these guys could just clean their carts and charge an extra $1 or $2 and have a lot more happy customers. This is also why I don't buy any retro games blind. Condition is too important if you are bothering to get original hardware instead of just using ROMs.
Hell, you can use ROMs on original hardware with a flash cart. Definitely the more economical option, considering retro game prices are absolutely stupid these days.
Lesson learned... never buy what you can't see.
Smoking around your games actually does cause the issues
Cant blame them because u didnt ask for pics closed mouth doesnt get fed
Haa!
1st game $14 for NES Bart vs Space Mutants? The game sucks and used to go for less than $1. 🤦♂️
Even sentimental value couldn't persuade me to spend that on that specific game. Then again I also wouldn't be able to make content out of it to possibly recover some of the cost.
Why I am hesitant to buy from any websites that don't show the condition of the game itself. Its a total crapshoot on what you may receive.
Tell ya what, every game I sell I always clean the outside and inside. Probably more work than i should be doing for a $8-15 game on some, but I do it because I have a reputation I want to hold high. So the fact that these guys didnt put the effort in and sold them close to market price, does not deserve your business going forward.
You missed out on the very best Ken Griffey Jr. snes game. Bummer. The only game you didn't buy is the good one
If you ever feel bad about not buying from a local store with bad business practices just remember, supporting used game stores means buying from the good ones and avoiding the bad/scammy ones. Bad stores take business away from good stores.
Out of all the stores to give a shout out to in socal you say lost levels. In a 50 mile radius that is the store w the weakest inventory and highest prices.
When you start hearing sour notes coming from Ron it ain't good. Could tell disappointment in his voice he was let down! Wouldn't deal with them anymore unless we see pictures from here on out.🙂
And i thought dk oldies was bad! 😂
Crazy I would hav gave u mine I got all those games come get them
Still over priced.. dang I can't believe how prices have sky rocked.. so sad.
Yeah word of advice… don’t buy unless you see the product… they took you for a ride no pun attended… the fact that they sell dirty games with corrosion damage, water damage etc… is sad…. Probably don’t even test them. Kinda reminds me of DK Oldies
You made me realize all my games look like they've been thru hell.
Lost levels at both locations overcharge for everything. But at least they do clean their stuff.
Lost Levels prices have gotten a bit higher than they used to be, but they do wind up having some ok prices. I dont buy too much from them, but maybe a cart or 2 when I am out there. I always compare prices to ebay when I am there and if its within a certain range I am ok with it as I get it, brick and mortar stores they usually are going to charge more as they have a lot more overhead than a ebay seller or someone with a booth at a convention... but its gotta be within reason. And I usually wind up using some kind of percent off reward with them.
Thats Na$ty, As Soon as I get something I clean it, When I Pass it on, I Clean it again before Packing;
Anything, Let alone Game Carts; Thats Lasy Buisness.
The thing about dk oldies they have be men proven as scam artists, but their still up, and scamming people fir the old stuff legally cause their selling around to collector price for their stuff wich is ridiculous prices for these games and any old game
I clean all my used games and make them mine!😉
If you are shipping out these games... there's no excuse for not cleaning the games up. That's just lazy.
🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️ we need to go game hunting so you can get better games 😂😂😂 I know some places
For real... I usually dont buy games off websites like this as I really wanna know the condition first... But I gave em a chance ... And learned my lesson 😂
Ive wasted money on much worse
You being a customer who bought so much...they should have given you the best of the best cartridges so you will buy again.
It was a decent deal until you added in the 4 hours of labor cleaning and testing everything. I've learned never to buy games sight unseen.
