Copy-pasting and pinning this on all older videos as I'm making them public again: When I was younger I fell pretty hard into that sort of "Oh yeah, I'm leading an internet community, I'm the superstar that knows best so everyone follow me!" which, looking back I'm not especially fond of, it's a very parasocial attitude. I don't think there was any one, super glaring issue, more of a "Death of a thousand cuts" that make me cringe looking back. A series putting forth my ideas as factually "Improving" them, constantly setting my viewers as my "Subjects" in often belittling ways, taking on a tone as if I'm speaking one-to-one with a viewer instead of presenting to a large audience, that sort of thing. And I regret now, it wasn't the healthiest atmosphere for myself or my viewers to foster. So, I just wanted to throw up this "Disclaimer" on all these, as while I don't dislike them enough to throw away years of editing work into a dusty attic, I do feel like a commentary on the 'vibes' I had in the past was necessary. Also to obviously explain the lack of Twitter/Twitch/Discord/Whatever-Else-I-Advertised-In-These-Videos. Trying to keep up a social media rots the brain and I have long since left that behind, I do NOT want that strife in my life! Especially Twitter. Twitter is garbage.
I'd like to think that Ganon uses the trident because he finds it super exotic because he never saw one before he became king. Remember, he came from the desert, so seeing a tool that's almost exclusively for fishing would be incredibly new to him. And it has three points? Just like the goddesses? Well surely it's a sign, he, the rightful owner of the full Triforce should have this as well to solidify his importance.
*Looking through the history of Hyrule* Ganon: What's that? Squire: A Trident sir. A common fishing spear, if you will. Ganon: I want it. I want it as my new weapon. Squire: but sir... Ganon: Perhaps you didn't hear me. I WANT IT. Pray tell, what part of that illuded you? Squire: Right away, my Lord.
Good lord, having Zelda suddenly have a "Now, she will try" moment during a Zelda game where she summons a battle axe and goes to town would be SO amazing. I want this so badly.
@@BlueTheSquid "Oh no Link please protect me from this Bokoblin!" "Zelda, I just saw you one shot a Lynel. You didn't even use an ancient arrow. I didn't think that was possible."
Maybe like a stick & fling? So he stabs into whoever is under him, does an overhead swing (could be a hitbox on other players) and then throws them down hard (about as hard as ganon's current down air spikes)
I’m thinking a down air similar to botw link, where he puts one foot on his trident, and simply hovers there. But when it connects, a large energy blast comes from the trident. If they were to the right or left of him when it connects, they will be launched respectively. If they were straight down however, they will be spiked. It won’t matter what frame of the moves he’s in. If you’re directly underneath, you’re getting hit with the strongest spike in the game
During a star K.O., Ganon doesn't scream as he launches off into distance but instead laughs maniacally (like he does in Wind Waker after his wish has been taken from him by the king of Hyrule) because he knows he will return.
I would like 4 stands, one for when the player doesn't change direction, other for when he/she choose to use it as a forward, and other 2 when is directed down and up.
They adding more dlc, and i was hoping they'd do it in passes, like an echo pass. Imagine having demise for ganon, ghiraham for sheik (maybe), funky kong, etc. But add a bigger hitbox for demise, with more raw damage, and etc.
I rather like it! My concern with Ganondorf, whenever someone brings up "but make him a warlock", is always that representation of power, and you addressing that right off the bat really assauges my fears. With that said, I do feel that the trident should be limited to jab combos and Smash Attacks. Putting the trident in his tilts, for instance, turns him into a poking character, as we've seen with Brawl Dedede's tilts and aerials. I understand the whole impalement gimmick assuages this, but it still worries me that he could be seen as a 'tipper' character like Marth. Plus I've always wanted Ganondorf to have a weak-looking backhand move as a tilt or jab, but the triforce glows and it just sends you flying. THAT is disrespect to me; a worthless-looking move that you die to anyway. The Luigi down taunt of tilts. I ADORE the concept for the down special, though I would probably make it his neutral special instead. Fire Bats just doesn't seem... emblematic enough to use as the main special move. Kirby getting a move that does not represent power from the King of Evil doesn't feel right. I do think that the fire bats are a fine move for him to take, but I dunno, I feel like "hit neutral special, then pick a direction for Ganon to channel himself in" works a little better. Plus I've always kind of wanted him to have OoT Din's Fire as a 'get off me', just a big burst of flame with a hefty start-up, and I think turning it into a down special similar to Magic Burst (but obviously slower) would be delicious. Maybe have the bats circle the explosion, that'd be cool. Otherwise, absolute kudos to your style of character planning. You put so much effort and care into making sure that not only is the character represented, but their animations, visual design, audio design, every aspect of the character works to support that thematic by-line. It really makes the designs and ideas stand out as more than just fan ideas, but as an actual, viable outline. Nicely done.
Several other characters already do the "pulling out their weapon just for specific attacks" thing, including Ganondorf himself, so your idea for the trident sounds really solid. You could even keep his old Smash Bros Up-tilt, considering how iconic the Volcano Kick has become at this point. I can't think of an instance where I wouldn't prefer a non-recovery directional move be the character's neutral-B (maybe Yoshi), so I definitely agree on that front as well.
I think we can keep the trident for tilts of they were slower but forceful. Powerful swings, lunging thrusts, without much precision. It'll keep the spirit of Ganon while making him not a tipper.
I get Sonic and DK, but Mewtwo and Lucario? Lucario (Aside for his aura gimmick) and Mewtwo more or less represent what they are in the games. Speedy pokemon that deal vast damage on both the physical and special sides. Peach, Daisy, Samus (just like he said), Mario, Luigi, Bowser, Dark Samus, Dark Pit, heck even Kirby deserve better movesets. Their movesets' are either outdated (Mario, Luigi, Samus, Bowser, Kirby..?) or don't represent the character. (Peach, Daisy, Dark Samus, Dark Pit) Lucario (except the aura mechanic ) and Mewtwo are fine as is
@@guangdong6805 I say Mewtwo because his moveset uses basically the lamest possible moves Mewtwo could have (Teleport, Confusion, Disable, etc) and doesn't really reflect the power of a legendary Pokémon. Lucario is missing some of its signature moves like Bone Rush and its whole aura gimmick doesn't really seem based on anything.
@@BeanoNintendo That is true. But Mewtwo is rather lackluster in moves. Their special move is locked into their final smash. Their grabs are already the move psychic. So they only have a few moves to work by, and mostly Psychic moves work fine. What about Lucario?
@@gatfatf If done correctly range could overtake combo's in usefulness, after all doing 16% from a jab where your opponent can't touch you isn't exactly bad, and the idea of getting a free hit after hooking a character kind of replaces the need for faster strikes.
4:28 I've always wanted a spear wielding character in smash, it's nice to see Byleth with a spear for some of thier moves, but I want a full on spear fighter for smash!
DUDE YOU WON MY LOVE SO HARD WITH THIS VIDEO. I've been saying the trident is what Ganondorf needs! You are amazing. I just wish Sakurai could see this. I'd honestly pay full price DLC to have your rendition of Ganondorf.
All of the Zelda characters should have their Hyrule Warriors costumes. Link with his awesome scarf, Ganondorf with his crimson Super Saiyan 3 hair, Zelda with her awesome looking...combat dress? Sheik with her tweaked design and Young Link with his masks hanging on his clothes.
I've watched all of this series, and as a designer I think this is your best one. The character you designed is closer to the original, does not have too much different mechanics than the rest of the characters and simply just seems like a more enjoyable character. So overall better without changing much of the scope (ignoring the directional ultimates). I do not know much about him nor do I care about him, but this video makes him a character I would love and play often. I have subscribed and liked, keep up the good work!
Ganondorf uses a trident because he's the MFing devil. Cool concept for a Smash moveset. Using something long and thin like a polearm is a bit more difficult in delivering that feeling of power than a big chunky sword, but as you touched upon, it shows how strong Ganondorf is by allowing him to force those prongs in some poor sucker and just fling them around like a stuck pig. Of course, both of those pale in comparison to just beating their asses with his bare hands and feet, but some sacrifices are worth making. However, I agree that the Down Special is the coolest part of this moveset: not only does it reference the character's origins and show what he is deep down, but it makes for a cool contrast to Zelda's phantom knight. A wild boar relying on its natural muscle vs. a human using weapons and armor. You just know there would be Jojo references all over the place. And as a last little note, I'm delighted by the thumbnail. Ganondorf looks like he loves that trident like it's his own baby, he's so overjoyed. Shout out to Madarts for that delightful work of art.
Omg you opened my eyes about this. As a Ganondorf main I love him now but this would be way more cool and fun. Ganondorf is my top favorite game villain and I’m just now realizing the disservice to him
That down special would be my new favorite special, hands down. Great concept, I was considering doing a Dream Smasher on Source Gaming for a Ganon rework, but you covered everything I’d have wanted to do and a lot more.
FIRE_LORD510 as you see in the examples Ganon teleports to his spear after he throws it in the games, so i guess it'd make for a decent up b all things considered
His moveset makes sense to me as is, he just needs peach's floating. However, I would say the volleyball move should be his neutral special. Then his side special can still be that rush but instead of picking you up by the face, that's where he uses the trident.
I would add a float like Peach and Daisy, just give him a more menacing and in-control pose. It's already scary when they use it, and if we give ganondorf these projectiles, it would be even more so
That would make him much more menacing when he's jumping towards you because he would be able to decide when he lands plus he would be looming over them waiting to strike.
As a Ganon main myself, this would be fantastic to play. Not only would the better recovery and extra versatility be a huge boon, it'd still help keep the feel of flattening stuff with complete impunity.
This is amazing! This is how Ganondorf should be! Brutal strikes and magic. And thank you for thinking of his trident. How are there over 70 characters on the roster and not one of them has a pole arm weapon?! Anyway, I would love for you to take a look at Zelda. I love that she is a magic based character, but her moveset is so dated that it really does not work well. I would also love to see what ifs for characters like Shantae, Twili Midna, and Elma from Chronicles X. This series is so awesome. Keep up the good work!.
Finding this channel and these sorts of concept videos gives me a feeling of deja vu from those times way back in middle/high school where I'd be super bored and just think of something random to draw or write, whether it was data or concepts. The "Improving Super Smash Brothers" series in particular reminds me of when I looked into the Mother games and noticed that Ness and Lucas were basically the tanks/healers/debuffers of their games with a nice screen nuke thrown in for damage, rather than the mage-like elementalists they're portrayed as. It got me thinking up their own movesets that were accurate to what they could use, albeit limited to Specials since I wasn't super into normals and the like back then. [Ness] - Neutral B: Unchanged. PK Flash is fine, and represents the move well as a difficult-to-land move that can sometimes instantly kill the opponent (in this case via insane damage and knockback rather than actual instant death). - Side B: PSI Paralysis. Likely functions like Zero Suit's Neutral B, with some extra quirks thrown in there like angling it similarly to how PK Fire is treated now. - Up B: PSI Teleport. This one was a stretch. Young me saw a move that warps and was like, "Yeah, let's go with that," though the fact that it requires a running start means Ness needs some good air time to pull it off, likely resulting in a massive warp that returns to the stage like the Hero's Zoom, with hitboxes both where he warps away and appears, with it getting cut short with an explosion if he rams into an opponent. - Down B: PK Rockin. An artillery projectile with small explosions and effects reminiscent of how it looked in the original. I don't remember what I did for Lucas anymore, but I recall that the Rope Snake and Mr. Saturn Coffee Table were involved. With all this said, I understand that their current role in Smash is to represent the series as a whole rather than just themselves, though that still sits a bit weirdly with me (except for the part where a trophy mentions that Paula/Kumatora trained their respective teammates for Smash by teaching them their PSI abilities; that's cute), especially since Lucas's actual abilities are completely absent from his Specials, available only in his Up and Down Smash attacks and some tilts in the form of PK Love.
@@techmo8397 look man, deadmans volley is outright ignorable as a ability if it used. If it moves slow it will be slapped back and then they move on, if it does more damage and moves faster, it will be blocked or just outright dodged. In the long run I just like ganon as is sword and all, he started as a falcon clone and he ended as a hybrid of ike and falcon with so much more likability than how he started. I just do not like some of the ideas duke gives. It seems too.....eh,
@@ColdNorth0628 Actually if used right a slow moving projectile in a fighting game can be really scary. Fire it and approach with it, charge passed it and attack your foe and if they can get around your attacks the projectile can catch up to the two of you and hit your opponent to save you from their attempted counter attack so can continue your assault. And another option is to just use it as a pressure tool. And giving someone like Ganondorf a move like that scares me.
Even though this is an old video, and I first watched it well before any controversy, I still come back to it pretty regularly. It's easily my favorite Ganondorf moveset I've seen, and one of my favorite fan movesets in general. The trident's just such a perfect idea, and I very much appreciate not being hesitant to completely throw out old movesets if they don't fit. I've never agreed with the idea that they should keep movesets similar to avoid alienating fans, because Smash has already shown a willingness to cut characters entirely. If cutting the moveset is too alienating, then surely cutting the moveset _and_ the character attached to it is even more alienating, right?
I love characters that use spears and tridents and this Ganondorf concept is easily one of my favourite character concepts I've ever seen. If this was actually how Ganondorf played in Smash I would main him in a heartbeat, I'm absolutely in love with it. Amazing work!
I can imagine that final smash so hard right now-- Like, the pieces coming together as a huge shadow comes up beneath and merges it with its being. Oh, and I've always thought that, if Zelda got to say one sentence in world of light, let's give other characters actual dialogue, if it makes sense. So we could have a deep, distorted, demonic voice going-- *Yes! It's MIIIIIIIIIIIINE!* And it's halfway between PK Starstorm and Giga Bowser, with lots of big projectiles coming from the background
Fantastic work as always, Duke! I've always felt like Gannon got snubbed super hard when he was introduced. The embodiment of evil, weilder of the Triforce of Power in smash bros... is a sub-par clone of Captain Falcon. That sort of treatment to our beloved warlock is awful, lame, and so out of character it drives me nuts. This is a perfect mish-mash of everything Ganon should be, inspired both by his disrespectful Smash persona and his monstrously powerful and magical Zelda persona. I give this video an easy Ganon out of Gannondorf - better in every way than the original!
This video is so thorough and incredibly detailed! Amazing work! I would love to see this kind of ganondorf in ultimate(if they ever do decide to redesign the character I'd be all in for that). And I'm also happy you acknowledged that mage ganon is still the current best mod and interpretation of ganon right now
@@BlueJack222 So his moveset from Super Smash Flash 2 maybe also tie in moves from Sonic Battle and maybe give him Sonic Wind for Sonic Adventure 2 multiplayer
Ganondorf is one of my favorite characters the way he is. (I wrote an essay here- be warned.) The huge problem with giving him a trident is that Ganondorf with range is fucking terrifying. I don't care what your frame data is- if he has Doriyah range on his jabs, that's straight-out broken, forget tilts (remember that jab combos that "require" hits, like most rapid-jab starters, can ignore the hit requirement if you just let go and press A again instead of holding it). I feel like the only way to balance this is to either weaken his attacks (which, considering how much you can *feel* the current ones, I don't think is a good idea) or make him slower. And he wasn't a great character until they sped him up. I know that it's more faithful to the character, but I feel like it just doesn't work in Smash at all for attacks. I might be okay with the grab, though. The down special is bad. Even if you give it Banjo-class super armor (which, by the way, is literally intangibility to anything but grabs), it would be almost literally impossible to land, because anyone who knows how to grab will have time to punish even if they do a jab combo on you (Fox can cancel his rapid jab and grab Ganondorf as it is with Warlock punch). Any character with a counter will be able to kill you instantly instead of the other way around. I like the directions, that means less dodging, but also the way you've written it is so easily punishable that nobody in their right mind would use the move except for the kill% version. Which, Ganon being as heavy as he is, is probably not great, considering that he survives high percents fairly well. The concept is inventive, but the execution will not execute once everyone gets used to it. I agree that Ganon needs to be in the moveset, but this isn't the way to do it. The way Bayonetta uses Madame Butterfly is far better. Dead Man's Volley, while a good idea, is basically Gordo but with charging time. And if you'd like to make it slow to start that people will be able to hit it back, remember that people know how to dodge, and unless it has *perfect homing*, there won't be a good incentive for anyone to hit it back (see: Gordo). Flame bats is good. No arguments here, but in terms of execution, he shouldn't get more than maybe 2 or 3- just charge the damage and the knockback between, because Palutena's homing is bad enough even if it can still be dodged and reflected. Dodging one slow but powerful shot after another would force either a move that allows Ganon to get in too easily (which is necessary, given that Down B is getting replaced) or just be too powerful when it connects. Up Special feels like a combination of Ike's up special (Aether) and Link's side special (Boomerang). And also shares a bit too much, in my opinion, with Zelda's Up special, in the teleport in aspect. If it's controllable and has a lasting hitbox, it ends up being the same as Zelda but just better. The final smash is perfect, although the current one is fun (you can bounce someone with the spike off of the lower fin in Corneria and still hit them with the charge). It should be cinematic, flashy as f**k, and leave no doubt in the opponent's mind that they just got dunked. The current Down B is the biggest problem Ganon has. It's strong, and about his only way to get in on projectile characters, but it's startup isn't great and it clinks with some of the heavier projectiles (Belmont Axe, K Rool Cannonball) which leaves him vulnerable to other projectiles. That being said, if you give him a projectile, it'd have to be something like a mildly weaker Samus Charge Shot or MegaMan forward smash. Which I don't like. It's Banjo's Wonderwing, but you can use it more than five times, it can be punished more easily, and stuff can hit you out of it. The kick really feels like a good solution, but it's also not. I really don't know what I'd do here. A spell would be best, but I don't know what I'd do beyond Zelda's Side B. Which is just copying. Fixes and Suggestions Get rid of the trident in A attacks and keep them mostly as they are. It's cool and it's hefty and it is Too Big For Smash (tm). Ganondorf's current smash attacks are extremely powerful moves because they have range, forget the startup time. You can't give him that kind of range in his tilts and still make his hits feel as meaty as they currently do without giving them *serious* drawbacks elsewhere. That being said- I like the Trident, and I don't want to get rid of it. Instead, I'd replace the current up special with an impaling thrust upwards, ending with Ganondorf throwing them off the spear- an effect something like flame choke but with a swing and sideways knockback. Directional input to throw somewhere else could be a thing, but not too much- downward would give him an unnecessarily powerful ledge-guard punish, for example. It's a lot like Dark Dive, yes, but is fresh enough to still depict power while still being relatively balanced. Ending animation could be changed to work better- punch off the trident is not a bad idea. Perhaps give it a grab box at the start instead of a hitbox all the way through, so Ganondorf mains can keep their only effective shield punish. Instead of impaling, he grabs them between his arms and the shaft of the spear, and drags them upwards, throwing them out with an explosion of power (like his up taunt, but it rises). I'd also replace Dead Man's Volley with a trident attack, because (see my denouncement of DMV above). Like the Up Special, it'd be an impaling attack somewhat similar to Corrin's or Flame Choke, but instead of a throw like the up special, or a kick like Corrin's, it would just be a slam downwards into the ground. Unlike Flame Choke, the impaling attack is a hitbox, not a grab box, meaning it could be clinked by a sufficiently powerful move. Before you yell at me for this being flame choke- Yes, it's basically flame choke. I feel like Ganondorf can't be changed too much from where he is without being crazily balanced. His attacks already do the most average % out of any character, and his specials are *just* bad enough to where you don't want to use them all the time, like they should be. Having the rebalanced stuff a lot like what it is but reskinned and with *slightly* different effects is all he really needs, apart from perhaps Down B. Neutral B should be something like Hero's fully charged Side B (the lightning shockwave) somewhat similar to Warlock Punch. I personally would like something like a small but powerful Magic Burst, but I don't know how you'd pull it off. Warlock Punch is a good move, apart from the fact that it looks like Falcon Punch. Reskin it and it's fine- the armor and the *extremely powerful hit* are exactly what it needs- a dominant show of power with its own flashy screen.
Alright, I know you like hearing ideas, so here’s what I have for Paper Mario. He’s styled after Ice Climbers, but instead he uses partners from 64, TTYD, and maybe Super, switching between them with down special like Pokémon Trainer. His smash attacks can be based off his special hammers, his tilts can be based on his standard hammer, his up special is based on the ultra boots in TTYD, downward aerial is a ground pound, you get the idea. There’s a lot of potential with badges (projectile hammer?) though I could be wrong.
While on the topic of revamping characters: How about we give the oldest character in the book a new coat of paint? Mario probably has the most basic and dated moveset of them all,so I've tried my best to come up with something new. Most of Mario's melee attacks would have him swing or throw his cap like in Odyssey, plus his expressions and body language would be changed to something more "happy-go-lucky". Neutral Special: He places a Baddie Box from 3D Land which starts spawning classic Mario baddies and breaks after it's spawned three,or when it takes about 20% damage. These baddies could be easily killed and would also attack the Mario player who spawned them. Side Special: Mario would throw his cap. Unlike his other cap-throwing moves, this one would cause sparks as well as Cappy's voice to come from the cap to indicate that it's the Side Special. If he hits a Baddie with the cap,he will capture it and his moveset will be changed to a smaller and different one. While captured,he will still take damage, and if his captured baddie is killed,he will be knocked back into his original form and be stunned for a short while. Also works on Assist Trophies. (I don't care if that's overpowered,I want Mario to capture Waluigi) Up Special: Mario would perform the Star Spin from Galaxy. It would only send him a smal distance upward, but it has a hurtbox and reflects projectiles. To compensate for his weak Up Special, his jumps would go very high. Down Special: Should still be F.L.U.D.D.,but instead of pushing enemies around,I imagine it more like a Fox Blaster-type move where he can spray the water in an arch and deal small damage on contact, but this damage is calculated for every 0.2 seconds that enemies touch the water, allowing Mario to slowly increase the enemies' damage count when ever they get close to him. Imagine it functioning kind of like the Aqua Scepter from the game "Terraria". Final Smash: Mario would jump off the stage, you would hear the capture sound effect from Odyssey and then T-Rex Mario would land on the stage, allowing him to stomp around and bite enemies for massive damage.
Let me try to improve Sonic. He just...doesn't quite feel like Sonic should in Smash if you ask me; too many spin-ball based attacks. I know that's what he's famous for, but he does it too much in Smash. Of course, keep his Standard, Up, and Down Specials the same...and transfer the name Spin Dash from his old Side Special to the Down...and of course keep Super Sonic as his Final Smash; it literally can't be anything else...but what would his new Side Special be? Why, the Boost from modern Sonic games, of course! Sonic would boost forward at high speeds! He'll keep going for as long as you hold the special move button until his Boost Gauge runs out or he runs into part of the stage or the blast zone. To fill up the Boost Gague, Sonic has to successfully hit opponents with his attacks. Luckily, this is Sonic we're talking about; he'd have no problem getting to his foes quickly. Sonic's new Up Smash can have him do a way past cool split-kick jump as he pumps his fist into the air, possibly exclaiming an enthusiastic "WOO!" You know, now that I think about it, the Blue Blur's moveset should also reference his history a bit more. Maybe have his Up Tilt toss a Ring into the air then catch it on the way down. That's literally all I can come up with in that regard.
It would still be Super Sonic, but it would now be better, with an activation instead of being just a bit of damage and, depending on the rule-set, not having your opponent get the smash ball. This current one would just be better, and still super sonic. Also, the sounds are just underwhelming, in my opinion, fitting better as a neutral special than an FS. The current one is just bad, compared to the rest of the cast.
I think that Dead Man's volley should become the Neutral Special. Partly because of how iconic it is. In my opinion, the fire bats shouldn't be in his special set. Instead, his new up-tilt could function similarly to the old one, but with a new animation. He raises his open palm to summon balls of fire that circle around it, then quickly swipes his hand downward in a commanding fashion, causing the fireballs to transform into bats and quickly dart downward causing a small explosion. His up air could also be similar to his current one with a new animation. Instead of an overhead arch kick, he swipes his hand in an upward arc and a row of fire bats quickly appear and attack the opponent, disappearing after the move is over. Flame choke should be kept in my opinion, as it captures the essence of Ganondorf very well. His swords should appear for a move or two. Give him his duel swords instead of a single one, because out his three appearances where he wields swords, two of them he dual-wields. Either his wind waker swords or his Hyrule warriors swords (doubtfull on the later as it isn't canon). He could use them for his dash attack; running with the swords to his side and swiping both of them in front of him at the same time. His Nair could receive an animation declone, where instead of two quick kicks it becomes two quick sword strikes. Despite how much I hate the falcondorf moveset, I would keep his Dair the same because it's one his best moves and out of his entire moveset, I and many other Ganon mains would hate to see that and his flame choke gone
Congratulations, I have been recently diving deep on LoZ games after years of eating up content of Link, Ganon and Zelda. I Think you have made a really good re desing and it would fit perfectly if done. Loved the video!
Nice concept definitely feels like ganondorf. But for an alternative idea perhaps focus on the aspects of planning and fear in the character. The idea is that his specials while slow or perhaps vulnerable but have long stun times or drag you into him. For example the dead man's volley while can be swatted back is out for a long time and will stun you for a long time if you hit allowing for a powerful attack destroying your opponent. In essence Ganondorf while slow, both in mobility and attack speed can slowly back you into a corner through his strong space control which is extremely scary to challange. It would well represent who ganondorf is often on step ahead of link or simply waiting for the hero to come right into his hands. Seen especially in orcarina of time or wind waker. Love to see DK next, while I think his current set highlights how his game plays well, with him being a surprisingly agile powerhouse. But is a poor represntation of his actual character and quite a lack of references to him, would love to see DK bash people over the head with coconuts and drag his oppontnets into the ground like a manic while still having that laid back dk64 attitude. Make me really happy as a DK fan.
This series is pretty damn cool as honestly, I spend a lot of time theorizing the same things as there are just so many moments of wasted potential in Smash Bros. but none represent that more to me then Ganondorf and you really hit the nail on the head here. I've brain stormed my own moveset for him before and this isn't far off from that so hey, great minds think alike. Good stuff!
We already have 3 links. I dont want 2-3 ganons, leave room for more charecters like skull kid or inpa. I'd be mad they made another clone charecter from zelda.
You mentioning how quite a few villains accomplish what they want in their final smash, along with giving Bowser's final smash to Ganondorf, gave me an interesting idea for a new Bowser final smash. A wedding altar suddenly appears, with a captive Princess Peach on it. (if Peach is in the match, replace her with Pauline or something idk.) The two are married by a Koopa Troopa officiator, only for the Chaos Heart to appear above them and create the Void, which begins to suck up anyone nearby, doing massive damage to anyone it catches. (During this, Bowser would also be panicking.)
Yes. This. Just take the current Ganondorf and reskin him as a true Cpt Falcon echo fighter (Black Shadow or Blood Hawk?) then bring your new Ganondorf in. Everyone's happy 😁
Sounds fantastic! Balancing could prove to be challenging for some of the moves while keeping the power, but I'm sure a nice com-promise would be found!
I think captain falcon was just a face slapped on the first fighter made in that 64 prototype (just a man) falcon and femininity just means slow and fast versions of that "basic fighting guy"
Just like how there are multiple links, I think they should also have multiple ganons too! That would be awesome to have the one we have now, the one duke is talking about, and maybe the wind waker GANONDorf.
There is just so much potential for Ganon.. lots of forms and different attacks/moves you can choose from. Example: One GANON similar to the size of King k. rool, he have no weapons, and just fight with pure power.
You are godlike at this, like seriously. You never fail to impress. I really hope you are having much fun making These Videos because they sure are awesome! As a next character, I would suggest Bowser. He feels so wrong in this game and especially Ultimate. His fire breath could be a big fat projectile like...originally in SMB. He just doesn't feel like Bowser.
Absolutely love it. We still need a Wario Improvement Video. He has....so much more potential and is so misinterpreted in Smash. Man....we NEED a Charge Throw.
An idea I had for Ganon was that his grab summons spectral hands to grapple the target. His up/forward throws would involve blasts of energy to send the target flying, with his down impaling then hammering the target and his back throw having him teleport and slam the target from behind. In addition, dodging out of the hold would have the target held in place for a split second. For a Final Smash, he creates a growing darkness that sucks in players and has them fall spiraling into the void, then a giant version of Ganon looms out of the darkness and crush the victims in his hands.
I think he’s fine as is. He’s not supposed to represent BoTW he’s supposed to represent, you know, Link. The only Zelda characters that are supposed to represent specific games are Toon Link, and arguably Sheik and Young Link. It makes more sense to change one of the other Links to something more unique, than to change the base standard Link.
Leon Lucky I’d rather not have 4 versions of the same character. That’s kinda the reason Smash players get annoyed at the sight of more Fire Emblem characters (adding Caeda would be cool though). But I am all for scraping Young Link, so we can make a compromise.
Watching this, I am for most of them, The Down special I think would be..slightly different, as Considering Gannondorf is Gannon posing as a human, I don't think it would necessarily engulf him to a completely suicidal point, I see how it would work, is, say above 100%, you start to get that effect not "Straight to the blast zone" but say, a dash forward for a split instant as it, before he 'regains' himself, though this distance becomes longer the higher the percentage is, meaning by the time if a player is surviving towards 300%, attacking like that, if your on the field, unless you have a walled stage, becomes potentially suicidal, but, can make it a potential self rescue, with risky -after attack- delay if your off stage, if you don't overshoot the stage, meaning the move both gets stronger, but also far more dangerous, the higher over 100% Gannon is. It keeps both your "All in attack" And the idea of the fury engulfing him, without making it completely suicidal, But still embraces the theme fully, as it means his strongest attack becomes both higher damage, and far, far more risky to use the higher his Percent is, Since If used as a recovery, well he would suffer landing lag from it, and if he misses his target, it's very punishable, and yet, if he hits his target, he more likely then not can recover from the after attack lag, or it's reduced significantly. So it fully embraces that All or nothing, but doesn't make it a 100% "Your going to kill yourself." By relation though I do think of course, It should have the fact that when he starts getting said "Range" For it, it also means it's damage goes up proportionally to the risk factor and distance, Meaning if a player tried to use it in sudden death, ...al the other player needs to do is block, yeah they might get shield broken, but Ganondorf is 99% Likely going to fall off the stage, unable to recover or hit the blast zone.
Why don’t u just make the down b his smash attacks? Make more sense since u can use it in different directions, then u can make his down b sort of s spear dash
I've always thought Dr Mario getting its own character slot wasn't the best move. I would have put him as an alt or as an echo fighter to represent how Mario used to fight Pre Brawl. I really got nothing in terms of making him unique since I'm not familiar with his spinoff games.
My idea is keep old Ganon since he's such a SMASH icon and have a toon ganon or maybe his TP design as a new character that better represents LOZ Ganon
Or add an F-Zero character with Ganondorfs current moveset (eg. Black Shadow) and then give Ganondorf this moveset. That would please the most amount of people at once and you really only need to make one new moveset so it wouldn't take to long either.
For Smash 6, I would like Sakurai (or his successor, should he finally step down as Director) to give certain characters much-needed move overhauls to better show what makes the characters what they are, because Ganondorf most certainly isn't a slower, more powerful Captain Falcon with 3 sword attacks taken from Ike and Cloud.
Dual Wielding Ganondorf is my ideal; influence from Wind-Waker, OoT Ganon, and Hyrule Warriors. BUT I also want Falcondorf moves reused for Rodin from the Bayonetta series. It actually does resemble how he fights pretty well...
Assuming bayo gets important enough and they don’t just add j as a semi clone I could see rodins intro” hey bayonetta, I’m here to pick you up from that fight club” proceeds to get hit by Ganons falcon punch, his glasses break but he doesn’t flinch. Proceeds to use same move to annihilate ganon

Behold, Ganondorf, king of fishing.

Gameplay, not story, is the focus of Zelda, like it or not
This is great, but I think down air should still be a spike. Ganondorf’s existing spike is literally perfect in my eyes, honestly.
Maybe like a stick & fling? So he stabs into whoever is under him, does an overhead swing (could be a hitbox on other players) and then throws them down hard (about as hard as ganon's current down air spikes)
His down special should have to be charged. And it should actually kill him. When he changes it you can just hit him so it would stop charging.
It would be really cool just to make it something like byleth’s dair, where it takes a bit to wind up, but it spikes really hard.
It really is a perfect spike, you can feel the amount of force of him spiking his opponents every time you use it
During a star K.O., Ganon doesn't scream as he launches off into distance but instead laughs maniacally (like he does in Wind Waker after his wish has been taken from him by the king of Hyrule) because he knows he will return.

@@PaperManlet girahim for sheik. I like that.
Make Black Shadow and give him Ganon's old moveset.
If Kirby uses the Spirit of Ganon when his percentage is too high, he turns into Void Termina's core.
I'm thinking for your idea of down special, the more he charges it the more bats there are the wider the are, starting at 3 maxing at 7

I think we can keep the trident for tilts of they were slower but forceful. Powerful swings, lunging thrusts, without much precision. It'll keep the spirit of Ganon while making him not a tipper.
Love these videos revamping old characters. Would love to see your takes on DK, Sonic, Mewtwo, and Lucario at some point.
Ya definitely sonic, half of his moves are just him spinning

I agree with this but instead of a pallette swap just an outright new costume
And every other Ganondorf, including Hyrule Wariors
Hylian Potato I feel like wind wakes might be a bit too chonky, but I can see hyrule warriors and twilight princess
@KillaCheeto why should young link have masks on him if he isn’t gonna use them?
I believe it sounds stupid tbh
Of course, what a trident was always used for. Recovery.

FIRE_LORD510 ever played minecraft? The riptide enchantment is a thing
Bandanna dee:I see they gave me an echo fighter
His moveset makes sense to me as is, he just needs peach's floating. However, I would say the volleyball move should be his neutral special. Then his side special can still be that rush but instead of picking you up by the face, that's where he uses the trident.
I’d make it more like Ike’s, except he glides to you instead of slides
I would add a float like Peach and Daisy, just give him a more menacing and in-control pose. It's already scary when they use it, and if we give ganondorf these projectiles, it would be even more so
That would make him much more menacing when he's jumping towards you because he would be able to decide when he lands plus he would be looming over them waiting to strike.
He has a float in PM and it really helps
Would help his recovery, too.
Ok, but what if it was slower but lasts longer?
Shadow snake god if ganon had a hover I’d die happy
Ok this series is wicked thankyou soo much for doing this
And PLEASE, give him a new victory theme like all the other villains.
As a Ganon main myself, this would be fantastic to play. Not only would the better recovery and extra versatility be a huge boon, it'd still help keep the feel of flattening stuff with complete impunity.
Okay I actually really love this re-design of ganondorf's moveset and I'm really sad that Nintendo will never actually do it,,,
This is amazing!
Ya gotta keep the DOORYAH sound effect
I'd much prefer bringing back the Warlock Punch scream from Melee. Maximum hype
[Ness]
- Neutral B: Unchanged.
I mean, Gordo is kinda like deadman’s volley when you think about it

@@ColdNorth0628 Actually if used right a slow moving projectile in a fighting game can be really scary. Fire it and approach with it, charge passed it and attack your foe and if they can get around your attacks the projectile can catch up to the two of you and hit your opponent to save you from their attempted counter attack so can continue your assault. And another option is to just use it as a pressure tool. And giving someone like Ganondorf a move like that scares me.

LOL 😂
Any chance you could work your magic and improve sonic?
If ganondorf can have his trident, THEN LET MARIO HAVE HIS HAMMER DARN IT
This is the kind of creativity that should be in Smash bros.
I love characters that use spears and tridents and this Ganondorf concept is easily one of my favourite character concepts I've ever seen. If this was actually how Ganondorf played in Smash I would main him in a heartbeat, I'm absolutely in love with it. Amazing work!
I love this but you're never taking away my flame choke
I can imagine that final smash so hard right now--
Like, the pieces coming together as a huge shadow comes up beneath and merges it with its being.

*Yes! It's MIIIIIIIIIIIINE!*
And it's halfway between PK Starstorm and Giga Bowser, with lots of big projectiles coming from the background

A punch is very impractical, keep a wide splash, followed by the stab, then slide them off the end with his boot. Another thrusting kick
imagine impaling your opponent with the trident and flipping them over your head as they smash into the ground beside you
Ganondorf is one of my favorite characters the way he is. (I wrote an essay here- be warned.)
The huge problem with giving him a trident is that Ganondorf with range is fucking terrifying.
Fixes and Suggestions
Get rid of the trident in A attacks and keep them mostly as they are.

This is it. I found Ganondorf. This is Ganondorf.
When the rivals of Aether modding tools come out I hope people use your videos to add these concepts in.
That Down B is basically a stand and I'm 200% ok with that

It will be so good to have a ganondorf like this in the game!
warlock punch starts on frame 1 and does 999% and ends on frame 2.
the hitbox is your choice. i like it being the whole stage.
@Large Idiot Child reverse frame one screen sized warlock punch? Lol
While on the topic of revamping characters:
How about we give the oldest character in the book a new coat of paint?
(I don't care if that's overpowered,I want Mario to capture Waluigi)
Up Special: Mario would perform the Star Spin from Galaxy.
Sprites4Ever Entertainment
that sounds pretty fun
Sonic's new Up Smash can have him do a way past cool split-kick jump as he pumps his fist into the air, possibly exclaiming an enthusiastic "WOO!"
You know, now that I think about it, the Blue Blur's moveset should also reference his history a bit more.
Maybe have his Up Tilt toss a Ring into the air then catch it on the way down.
That's literally all I can come up with in that regard.
I think his final smash should be a cutscene FS with a starting hitbox equal to that of Meta Knight's!
@@icicleditor Like I said, Keep his FS Super Sonic...
@@icicleditor I guess you're right. So, anyway, I feel like Sonic's moveset should reference his history a little better.
Just look at Sonic Battle, there's tons of stuff there he can use.
I went in wanting warlock punch to stay, and left completely ok with it being gone
Yeah Nintendo missed a huge opportunity with Gannondorf.
Bro that Red you put on looks sooooo cool!
Ganondorf is Captain Falcon drunk on power
Well we made it 2 minutes without saying it

Good stuff!
I really want wind waker Ganon with duel swords!
Ah, a fellow of culture I see.
Jokes aside, me too
I’ll just take the duel swords with oot ww and tp as alternates
Dual swords you mean? Never played a Zelda game but sure, as long as it isn’t just another swordie
We already have 3 links. I dont want 2-3 ganons, leave room for more charecters like skull kid or inpa. I'd be mad they made another clone charecter from zelda.
Luigi I want midna and ghirahim over skull kid and impa could easily be an alternate for sheik

That's exactly what Falcon was.
Bruh, the down special is the same as his real smash move

An idea I had for Ganon was that his grab summons spectral hands to grapple the target. His up/forward throws would involve blasts of energy to send the target flying, with his down impaling then hammering the target and his back throw having him teleport and slam the target from behind. In addition, dodging out of the hold would have the target held in place for a split second.
For a Final Smash, he creates a growing darkness that sucks in players and has them fall spiraling into the void, then a giant version of Ganon looms out of the darkness and crush the victims in his hands.
Please do botw Link next! He could represent Breath of the Wild SO much more!
SolracDude Yeah, but then just make a fourth unique botw Link.
Leon Lucky I’d rather not have 4 versions of the same character. That’s kinda the reason Smash players get annoyed at the sight of more Fire Emblem characters (adding Caeda would be cool though). But I am all for scraping Young Link, so we can make a compromise.
MaSpoofs Or a counter with Daruk’s protection, recovery with Revali’s Gale and maybe grab with Magnesis!
@@SolracDude Or we can scrap Toon Link instead.
So it fully embraces that All or nothing, but doesn't make it a 100% "Your going to kill yourself."
By relation though I do think of course, It should have the fact that when he starts getting said "Range" For it, it also means it's damage goes up proportionally to the risk factor and distance, Meaning if a player tried to use it in sudden death, ...al the other player needs to do is block, yeah they might get shield broken, but Ganondorf is 99% Likely going to fall off the stage, unable to recover or hit the blast zone.
you should do a Improvment video on Dark Samus
Ganadorf's moveset should have been moved to Black Shadow
Knuckles and Shadow.
Could have fixed the Sonic charecters... but assist
B-but... Dooryah!
Admittedly, this moveset does sound excellent. Down-b Ganon-punch does sound very, very fun.
Why don’t u just make the down b his smash attacks? Make more sense since u can use it in different directions, then u can make his down b sort of s spear dash
Thats boring
I think it could be interesting to see ganon and ganondorf as unique characters although I must admit I really really love your ideas as well

Derpy Boi Films don’t care I think he’s fine
@@YungyFGC and everyone knows that when youtuber Boy has an opinion, that opinion becomes fact. Moron.
I've always thought Dr Mario getting its own character slot wasn't the best move. I would have put him as an alt or as an echo fighter to represent how Mario used to fight Pre Brawl. I really got nothing in terms of making him unique since I'm not familiar with his spinoff games.
This is probably the best Gabon moveset I have ever seen. It looks so fun.
No more clone charecters
Nah. Captain Falcon clone Ganondorf has gotta go.

BANDANA WADDLE DEE!!!! Sorry, couldn't help myself.
How hard was it to animate shooting him with water spray in the latest Alax video?
Dual Wielding Ganondorf is my ideal; influence from Wind-Waker, OoT Ganon, and Hyrule Warriors.
BUT I also want Falcondorf moves reused for Rodin from the Bayonetta series. It actually does resemble how he fights pretty well...
That’s actually not a bad idea.....
Assuming bayo gets important enough and they don’t just add j as a semi clone
I could see rodins intro” hey bayonetta, I’m here to pick you up from that fight club” proceeds to get hit by Ganons falcon punch, his glasses break but he doesn’t flinch. Proceeds to use same move to annihilate ganon
