      african twin better looker form front on same with a tracer and tenere 700. the 1050 vstom head look bit dated compared to it little sister v strom 800 de / video 25;00 (tyre setup ) reason tubelss on back is because nail will skip front and hit back Tyre it easier to repair than tubed in middle of know where during big tour cross country plus it cheaper to replace tubeless tyre than a tubed setup

      I love the ktm 1290 super Duke but reliability issues are what’s keeping me away from the brand. I ride too often to deal with issues on a consistent basis. I think I’ll go with the new gsx s1000 instead.

    I just test rode a 2020 1050 and a 2023 800DE just this past weekend. I ended up with the 800DE instead mostly for the engine character. Felt smoother/faster and more nimble. The Parallel twin carries the power all the way to redline where as the V-twin doesn't. The V-Twin also doesn't like low RPMS in high gears, which I get most do, but the Parallel has more in that area also so if you forget to switch gears your not lacking.

      Is the 800 as big and substantial as the 1050? I'm fairly tall and would usually go for the biggest bike I can afford but that 800 looks sweet.

    • @ioandragulescu6063
      @ioandragulescu6063 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@slipngrip I had a 2019 650, I currently have a 2023 1050 (non DE) and I sat down on the 800 DE a couple of times. Out of all 3, surprisingly, the 1050 (again, non DE) feels the most compact. The 800 has a lower dash/winshield but it is physically longer in the front, like the tank, reach to the handlebars and so on. That being said I am not particularly tall (1,76cm, I think that's 5' 9"). My best advice is to sit on them and feel for yourself.

    I got an older1050 as a replacement when my bike was knocked over by a random clown who wanted a 3D Sensurround experience. Despite my height 5ft 8in, I loved it. The engine is fabulous. Every traffic light I approached could have been a disaster, due to lack of inseam. But, I found that this added to the fun of riding the thing. I had to make sure I could stop without a camber in the road. Fabulous bike. Character and great engine.

    OC...suzuki to me has always been a good brand. They are always reliable, and for some like me who doesn't wanna pay 20k for a motorcycle and have all thr tech some of these bikes have I like the brand. Always kept it simple that's what I prefer.

    I owned a 650 for a few years, and even at 6'3" I always felt like my feet were too far off the ground and it gives me the illusion that I'm sitting higher off the ground, which makes me a little unstable feeling mentally. My 650 nighthawk felt much more comfortable on curves, but maybe just inexperience on my part.

  • @chas30012001

    I think the large front tire "slows" the steering (on road). I ride an adventure with a 21 front wheel. Also have another bike with a 17 front. The 21 is definitely "slower" when switching directions on road vs the 17 front. Also, my cruise control is on the right side. I think it is ok since u can + - speed by clicking the buttons with your throttle hand. On my bike hill hold is timed and engages when comming to a stop (from traveling forward). When i let off the brakes, it holds for a set time and disengages as soon as the bike moves forward. I am not sure it will work if you drift back and apply the brakes.

    I have a 2023 non DE for about 2 months now and while the CC button being on the right was annoying at first, I got used to it really fast. I engage it on start up, or on random stops (crossroads, traffic lights, etc), on throttle downs, worst case scenario I press in the clutch and then engage the CC. It looks like Suzuki took its design cues from a cereal box. The seat looks and feels like a block of cheese, ( I've sat on one and, after a couple minutes my legs started loosing circulation. ) and the headlight looks like they ripped off their own dr650 and stuffed some LED's in it. All this coming from a guy who ended up buying a 2018 dl1000 on clearance for a really good price because I couldn't afford a Yamaha. I just wish the engine had the power of my old TL1000S.
