Yep. T'challa's a character that's survived almost every event in comics, killing him off-screen, and swapping him out for Shuri, was the most frustrating misfire of recent MCU films. Shuri was not ready to become Black Panther and forcing that outcome to be the MCU's current reality made Wakanda Forever way too busy a film, and leaves a sour taste in audience's mouths.
Different executives and a different studio. What he has to deal with for Star Wars was objectively shitty but at the same time different studios and different people. I’m not surprised by it.
@ yea but I don’t see him ever doing another Disney production. Different studios but Disney kinda influences both of them. For example, there were rumors Boyega’s Star Wars character was kinda sidelined because of China’s audiences. Marvel didn’t sideline Chadwick Boseman’s character but they covered his face on their poster.
This is a perfect opportunity to find a relative unknown similar how they chose Tom Holland for Spider-Man. Hopefully whomever they eventually cast for the role does an excellent job.
This isn’t a bad news. Everyone thinks it is what it does is it opens up the door for a new actor to take the role someone we’re not familiar with, but we can grow to love. Take your time Marvel you’ll find the right person.
Or how conditioned we are to not seeing black actors in multiple big roles that we just hold onto one at a time. We almost never have multiple black movie stars . It’s usually just one until the next one. Not recasting all this time just keeps the cycle going and black actors in the same mindset of thinking they gonna erase his work, or the shows to fill. White actors in abundance NEVER think this way
@@WawaMarvel what lie you live in? This the 1900s there’s always been MULTIPLE black star actors have been multiple movies. The problem is that we have social media that will target actors who get roles based on how dark their skin color is. Aaron Pierce and Rege were called out and criticized due being lighter skin.
Trust me, this will NOT be a hard role to recast. Especially when you get outside of Hollywood. There is a whole continent of African actors that will happily take the role of an African character.
Yeah, that's the thing, hollywood is way too intent on casting the same actors over and over and over again when, for example, I'm sure there are dozens of relatively unknown actors if not more that would have been a better fit for Reed Richards than Pedro Pascal.
They looking for a big name and that's the problem. I'm happy some of them names turned down don't fit Johnathon at all. I would love for a real African
This is more than just about not wanting to step into Chadwick's shoes. This is about how Marvel and Disney has treated Jonathan Majors. Black men saw how John Boyega was treated and then Jonathan Majors. They don't trust Marvel/Disney with their careers.
Marvel needs to get back to finding the relatively unknown actors. It’s not only a better business model appointed to big name actors. It also allows the actor to become the character.
They need to just cast someone who wants to actually grow a pair and prove they're a good actor. Chadwick isn't irreplaceable, hard af to replace but not impossible.
Cross may have given him more exposure into the star realm. They really want these parts to be played by the biggest names possible. He's a quality actor that could probably get the job done.
At some point in the one movies the new TChalla wil yave to make it known, "i'm not the TChalla of your univers or im not my father" this small line could hopefully help people grasp that this is a new Tchalla
This is the Jonathan Majors effect. They will have a tough time getting young black male actors to trust them after that. Especially with other actors that have had troubled pasts being overlooked.
Marvel really did themselves a hole here. Coming out and saying the character would not be recast because of Boseman’s death made It a not so desired role. I bet if they recasted sooner It wouldn’t be such an issue to land a big name.
Go outside of the basic Hollywood options & cast a wide search for Ta'Challa. This is an incredible opportunity for someone. They will cast someone for sure. Can't wait till they announce it. TA'CHALLA belongs in the MCU.
The bar was set so high by Mr. Boseman, I don't see they can't feel a certain way about that. But John David Washington. He'd be a great version of his son all grown up.
I think getting a relative unknown would be easier at a different point. If you tell an actor that something as big as Doomsday and Secret Wars will have him as a central character, it will be hard for the studio to rest that much on an unknown commodity. They may need to play the Denzel card and have him talk to a potential actor to ease him through, as well as directly speaking with Ryan Coogler.
Panther is a super important character in the Marvel universe. Even Boseman's own family gave their blessing to have the Black Panther continue. Nuff said.
I don;t blame them. I don't think it's about filling his shoes. They probably don't want to have to keep answering questions about Chadwick and probably don't want to deal with social media drama.
I agree, a non-celebrity actor is the way to go when casting Black Panther for future projects, but they better make the right choice, because I know fans will not be good with a new Black Panther for every future movie he’d appear in, multiverse excuse or not!
When you actually start thinking of actors who could potentially do it, you realise even more how perfect Chadwick was. True legend. To think what could have been with him leading the MCU

They should’ve done that when he passed. Then they made the bad decision on making Wakanda forever. Now back peddling on their decision turns actors off.
