Just got mine at $250. I’m so happy. And having both, I actually like all the upgrades AND that it wears differently than the old. Very happy with this. Wouldn’t have been at MSRP, but at $250 I’m so incredibly happy with it!
those old bracelets are so comfortable because they are so loose. i have a 40 years old ricoh with what we call today a cheap terrible a bracelet and it feels like im wearing nothing. i blame youtubers and other reviewers for this, they always complained that bracelets feel cheap and jangly and such and now everyone makes rigid, heavy bracelets with perfect tolerances that feel exactly how they are, rigid, heavy and uncomfortable to wear. it's a shame because bracelets are the most durable type of strap there is but, for me at least ,from the start i prefer a modern watch be without a bracelet, i would just replace it anyway, i can't wear these modern "good quality" bracelets.
Well, as you can see on the video, I even keep my SKX on the original bracelet too for that reason. I actually had to source it separately. Great comments 👍
This watch is the sweet spot for me in the Seiko lineup. $250 gets you 100 meters of water resistance and a newer movement. The sarb003 was great but why would we pay $700 for a movement that may not even be as reliable for a sapphire crystal. This is where modern Seiko falls apart for me. If you’re going to pay that much you might as well spend $200 more to get titanium and the upgraded dial of the Baby snowflake. And who wants to spend $900 when you can get a citizen forza with equal specs for $599 new!!!!! So for me one doesn’t need more than this Seiko 5. It’s only drawback is the lack of sapphire but who cares at this price. I am waiting for an Orient to match the Baby snowflake for less money. I have an old Seiko 5 from 40 years ago and it still works great. I also like the presage sary 055 on the second hand market as this will get you sapphire crystal and perhaps slightly thinner.
I think Citizen has really stepped up its game. And the Sarb line is one of those very special cases…for sure. But you’re right, this new Seiko 5 does hit a sweet spot!
I own the og and continue to revisit it often in my line ups. I can't justify purchasing the new version at its price point. The og is just so damn iconic and can upgrade the crystal and bracelet for less then the newer revival
Old one is definitely better. Because of thin bracelet, the clock is very lightweight. That's why wearing is much more comfortable than other 150gr watches.
@@threehandhunter Well I'll be honest, I'm just going on styles, I have 3 Monsters, 1 Presage (JDM) and a JDM Biker style quartz. I've yet to buy a 5KX I may get one this Christmas!
Is it good? I say yes, so much so that I bought two, one blue and one silver (champagne to my eye). I bought the first, found it to be very nice on my 6 1/2 inch wrist, and bought the second within a week. Both fall into my daily wear rotation often. FWIW... I could never own a non-hacking watch. I need the second hand to hit the 12 exactly when the minute hand hits a whole minute. Therefore, the original was never an option for me no matter how cheap.
Nice choices. As far as the hacking goes…I have a couple non hacking (Seikos) and I get your issue. For me it’s like leaving the house without combing my hair. Liberating 😂
for me the old Seiko is like a cheap Casio. While this watch is a nice looking watch and I got watches that costs x20 times more. Got that Seiko to rock like my g shock. But more dressed. Paid 350$ but ok. Wanted to buy on that day the prx or citizen tsy…. But than in saw that Champaign Seiko ❤️
@ it’s clean and vintage. I also got the Cerree and want to get the bb54. This Seiko fits perfect between them. that 007 titan omega would be nice to own, too but $$ 😬. All of them are loose and vintage on my 7inch wrist. Seiko got a cheaper clasp, weak lumen and yes no sapphire
I don't know why Seiko put display case backs (on both of these). My first ever Seiko was a 5 automatic like this but with silver dial, back in 1986 (i think). Such a solid watch, and that didn't have a display case back
@@ekekonoise because these movements aren't that special to look at and a solid case back is in keeping with the ethos of this design and model range.....in my opinion anyways
Not in person. Would choose Seiko over the citizen and also prx. Just about the Optik. Movement idc got some other good movements. I didn’t expect a lot in that price range but love that watch like my others
I just got this black one and I love it! The finishing is so clean. Looks great! Feels great! The bracelet is great. Looks good on straps
I bet it looks great on leather 😍

I totally agree. The old style fold over clasps made from pressed steel sat so flat against the wrist.
Well, as you can see on the video, I even keep my SKX on the original bracelet too for that reason. I actually had to source it separately. Great comments 👍
i got my SRPK89 3 days ago, im loving it ❤
It’s a beauty 👍👍
Yeah, the new looks pretty good. Only thing I'm missing is the sunburst dial. I need that sunburst!
I’m in agreement!!!
2:39 spot on. The jingle jangle, I love it. Vintage vibes. Feels like an oyster perpetual.
Right??

I hear (not confirmed since I have never tried) the OG with this case taking out the crystal is difficult…from what I have read
Old one is definitely better.

Truth!
it wouldve been an instant buy for me if only the chapter ring color matched the dial...
That’s some serious attention to detail!
It always amazes me how much beauty and precision are added to the parts of MAMACOO's watch 99% of people will never see.
Cheap
I think so, but I've been impressed favorably by most of the new 5KX's
Which other ones have you tried or had?
@@threehandhunter Well I'll be honest, I'm just going on styles, I have 3 Monsters, 1 Presage (JDM) and a JDM Biker style quartz. I've yet to buy a 5KX I may get one this Christmas!
@@steven3379 I hope Santa is good to you this season!
l wish the SRPK can in a larger case size for those of us with big wrists. Its damn sharp!
I think a 39mm version would be perfect for my 7.25in wrist 👍
I'd buy one if they dropped the faux patina and brought back the sunburst.
I am 💯 with you. The faux patina is something I wrestle with personally
I cannot stand fake patina either, I’m sure there’s going to be new dials released soon.
@@jimreece7615 Let's hope so!
Im a big fan!
Me too!

I really wish they kept the old dial.
Could you imagine this with a grey sunburst dial? It would sell like hotcakes!!!
Like them both, but give me the OG!
I do appreciate mine!

That’s old school! Were those the UFO case shaped ones?
@@threehandhunter it was very similar to this snxs model
Transparent cases are cool to look at, why wouldn't you want one?
@@ekekonoise because these movements aren't that special to look at and a solid case back is in keeping with the ethos of this design and model range.....in my opinion anyways
the old one looks more elegant :/... the new one not so much... a good alternative should be the citizen tsuyosa although its pricier..
Good alternative. But you have to like integrated bracelets
Not in person. Would choose Seiko over the citizen and also prx. Just about the Optik. Movement idc got some other good movements. I didn’t expect a lot in that price range but love that watch like my others
The snxs is very uncomfortable to wear, due to the straight underside. I found it annoing, just like Steinhart watches.
Are you talking the original? If you have smaller wrists I could see that
Un timo carísimo ni materiales premium ni un calibre moderno 😅
I think the build quality is nice
Don’t see the point of making a versatile watch have “pop” of color only on the second hand and rehaut. Makes no sense to me.
I think it gives it a little character. But that’s my unpopular opinion 😀
Remakes are almost never as good. They should have kept it the same but improved its specs. What a mistake. Seiko continues to go downhill
As another person said…regular lume and grey sunburst dial would have been amazing
