It’s so dangerous they chose to only use single cylinders and no bailouts! This is extremely over dramatised nonsense. The Zen is a brilliant wreck that tens of thousands of divers get to experience every year. This film is circulating around divers in Cyprus at the moment and it’s being met with laughter and head shaking.
Cousteau would be ashamed with the unnecessary scaremongering.
Not to mention in the intro they say that she inexplicably took on water, when in reality the ballast tanks were filling up due to a issue with the computer systems.
There's no way a pilot door being left open sank that ship, and if anyone wants to find radioactivity in water then they should go to the English channel
3 years late but when I found this video I agree with you crudge1 he would be ashamed its an insult to the legacy how would you think you decovered the Brittanic and your grandkids make a lame if not fake video like that Cousteau would be ashamed
I watched this video because I dived on the Zenobia and I thought it might be an interesting reminder of that day. Instead it turns out to be a conspiracy theory video without any actual evidence even hinting at sabotage. A truck load of sleeping bags that might be military isn't evidence of an arms shipment, let alone potential "weapons of mass destruction" as the naration hysterically suggested. This recent series of films appears to set to explain mysteries that aren't actually mysteries and don't need explaining.
Shame they only really lived in their grandfathers name rather than really achieving anything themselves
Only speculations, why not ask one of the sailors that sailed on Zenobia...
I think those grandkids need to leave the world that Jacques Cousteau made, alone. This was over dramatized and complete waste of 40mins of anyone's time. Another commenter, Crudge1 states, as I've heard many many other divers say, the Zen is one of the worlds most premier dive sites, and for Fab & Ce to try to cast a danger dive sign over it, is utter nonsense.
I'd love to get to that site myself one day, and this mini doc did nothing to discourage me, nor did it add an element of mystery to it either. Like I said above, the pair need to leave deep sea diving alone and maybe take up knitting or perhaps they can go do some shallow water Noodling in some southern US state, to entertain their collective following!!
But, as always, that's just my opinion! :)))
Over sensationalised
"Experienced divers" would have run a line when penetrating. I did several dives on this wreck before this video was made, and I'm sure Chris from Alpha Divers made a few bob from taking the Cousteaus onto the wreck.
Why no safety divers as well as stages. I only saw some bottles hanging on lines from the boat.
I agree with Crudge1, old Jaques would be ashamed at this video.
Having watched the opening sequence..... don’t bother watching this. Some seriously idiotic diving practices involved here, deep and extensive wreck penetration on single cylinder and no bailout available. Absolutely nothing mysterious about what happened here, shit happens at sea and in this case it did.

I've not dived the Zenobia... However.. Why are they only diving on one cylinder? Realistically they should be on twin-set or rebreather with bailout. Why weren't they running a line? Where was the decompression trapeze with spare gas? Safety divers?
I have to say this seemed very sensationalised. Ross Kemp did the same thing in Scapa Flow. Tide changed and he had a nice drift dive back to the line, and made out that it was a life or death situation.
These two have showcased some shocking diving practice in this video.
Pure speculation and sensationalism. She was listing on her way to Athens as well. There clearly was something very wrong with the ballast control software.

Oh the shame, shame shame, The Costeau name has suffered so much damage. Look for Nuclear sharks for another Cousteau shame. The staging in this show is so amateur and lame. Does anyone think there would be any evidence left of weapons 40 years later if this theory is even plausible and are Cousteau grand kids experts in recognizing weapon evidence?? The dive practices in these shows are not current dive standards, training procedures, equipment configuration for technical wreck diving. Most deaths in wrecks are because divers have no idea what they are doing, like skydiving without a parachute. Martin says the "expert skill set" funny that they are not skilled wreck divers at all.
Why cover up the Nissan xtrail badge?

A great film with lots of speculation, is it true? Who Cares. Its a great film with absolutely excellent film work... anyone negative of this film truly misses the point. There are rumours, these Legends of The Deep deserve a viewing... show some respect for the people and the family legacy that is the Cousteaus :)
