You're a very very good instructor, I'm taking a ceramics class and I feel the instructor is so clay-centric that he leaves many of those who are not so familiar with terminology in the dark. Subscribed!
Man, it's great to see a new video Bill. Have always found your demos really helpful and I have some of your tools and they really do the job. Hope you continue to show us your new ideas. Thanks!
nice demo Bill. hard to believe it's been 2 years since i took your workshop. i hope to get down to your studio this summer - i need to buy me a BVG pot
thank you Bill...again, would have loved to see the finished product so i can see what you are saying about the dynamics of the drying as opposed to the second firing. I make a lot of plates and have had the rims droop from time to time and the middle become humped...so, ya you have addressed my problem very well. wow you are a great practical teacher/instructor without the "woo woo." lol :)
thank you that was helpful as I have a lot of issues with plates. wish you did 2 week workshops as you did not go to Italy so i missed out on your teaching Rachel Byass
Brilliant! I truly appreciate your explanations...you answered questions I hadn't known I should ask ("Huh, I didn't think I'd left the bottom so high in the middle...."). :D THANK YOU!
you prolly dont care but if you're bored like me atm then you can stream all of the latest movies on InstaFlixxer. Have been binge watching with my girlfriend for the last few days =)
Hi Bill... I really liked your explanation on plates. It would have really been great as you explain what happens to a plate as it hardens is have a plate leather hard, green ware, bisque fired and glazed to see all the stages.
BRAVO! I had some very beautiful plates, which I love and still use regardless, do that hump in the bottom, and I was wondering about that. Your fulcrum explanation made perfect sense: That's exactly what happened. What are you firing your glaze pieces to? And where can we see some of your finished work?
Thank you! You explained the reason for a glaze debacle I had. Much appreciated! We you be making a video using the other end of the trimming tool? It's an interesting shape that I'm not sure I've seen before!
Would you consider a clip on handles? I have seen your clip on coils, but nothing on pulling handles. For some of us, attractive and functional and consistent handles are a real challenge. Thanks.
thank you showing a finished plate would have completed the the lesson for me. I glaze the bottom of my plates to help off set the tention, or the desire for the bottom to want to rise do you think that this is helpful?
Hi Bill, I had a question about the angle of the flange: If you are making a plate with a smaller rim (1" or so), will it drop less in the kiln? Meaning should I throw the rim a bit lower initially if I want it to be close to flat after the glaze firing? Thanks!
This is great. You're the first person who ever explained the meaning of the sound when you tap to determine depth.
Thank you for showing us how to throw and trim a plate, you are a good teacher. Have a good day.
You are welcome!
You show not only the how, but the why. Thanks for the explanation of clay movement when drying and when in the kiln.

Good video work to go along with good explanation
Thanks again for such a nice clear and well explained demo. Do you have any tips for drying your plates evenly before trimming please?
