That's a Big Steak | Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs (2009) | Now Playing - ภาพยนตร์และแอนิเมชัน
This was probably the most tense scene in the movie. The steaks have never been higher.
Nice
I knew reading this comment was a misteak
@@zxopixelI love a good steak pun but they're a rare medium.
Great joke. *Well Done*
and before you ask the prize isnt actually steak
1:20 By the way, the father was the first to notice the strangeness with the size, which literally hints at the next scene.
Still not a good foreshadowing as "the Cornetto Trilogy"
I find dumb how flint barely realizes once he leaves the restaurant that's there's a BIG problem. When the father notices and mentions it beforehand
@@Thecringerises Ambition and constant praise can blind us, which is what happened to Flint.
@@zed6740 I never thought of it that way. Thanks for explaining why 😁👍

Tim wasn't too disappointed In flint.
He was just trying to Especially tell him that there are no shortcuts in life.
Taking short cuts in life could lead to disaster
But sometimes there are, but I think the main point is not to overuse them
@@darthdracul8372 that's also what I ment.
Idk if spending years inventing things to finally have just one success can be remotely considered a short cut
Not only is that not what he was saying, but Flint is the last person on earth who should be considered to be taking shortcuts
usually whenever a person saves the town their parents are proud of them I don't know what happened with Flint's dad
I get what you mean, he did seem unreasonably upset and disappointed, but you gotta admit even knows how they started to live wasn’t natural, raining genetically modified food from the sky sounds like some dystopian shit, and I think some of it lies in the fact he wanted to see his son running their business together and he feels forgotten, granted he could’ve gone about it in a better way, but hey what dad isn’t like that, we’re all from generational gaps
@@vanillarhino3609 Yeah, and considering what happened after, his dad's fear isn't really that far off.
He felt a disaster coming, just like with most of his inventions, The longer it went on the more worried he got, Andy wanted him to carry on the family business so he sees no reason to be happy or proud right now
I can't be the only one who thought that food falling from the sky would lead to harming people or other unintentional damage, not to mention the excess rotting.
I think that he's just trying to tell Flint that there should be a limit before someone bad happens, like with all of his other inventions.
This scene is all kinds of bittersweet.
Flint made steak rain from the sky.
To please his dad.
Tim takes the time to observe everything.
Tim is the first to notice something is not right with the raining food.
Tim and Flint had an argument.
Flint reflects back and wonders if he had said the proper thing to his son.
He loves Flint so much. Only wants what's best for him. May not understand what goes on, but his knew something was not right with the food rain. Then there was that moment in the tackle shop where he felt like he's losing his son. It's like he's wondering if he had said the proper things to Flint, but may not have worded it properly. It's heartbreaking. The dad's just trying his hardest after the mom passed. Don't give up.
Its a cartoon

Hey, for once Flint made something that made everyone happy, of course Earl is happy to see him
He was still happy 😊
I just noticed, the steak falling cuts Tim off before he can answer. With how happy his expression was, he was probably going to say "I've always been proud". That or he was going to ask a question about his big achievement, either way the steak steered the conversation off course.
That makes the scene all the more of a tearjerker
1:57 flint should have said “you don’t keep throwing your net when there aren’t any fish.”
He doesn’t understand fishing metaphor

Did he just solve world hunger?
Yes he did
For a while at least...
Till the CIA wacked him for destroying tne food industry
How could me saying someone solving world hunger get likes?
Yes. By removing all the water. I'm sure that won't be a problem cause people don't need to drink water and it isn't part of some important carbon-oxygen cycle. I'm sure it will all be fine. Yep.
0:20 When someone you picked on in school becomes more successful than you.
The same reason why there is the legend of not bullying “nerds” since they will probably be your boss
Literally 😂
That’s what happens when you peak in high school.
You kick other people while you’re ahead, only to discover once high school ends that the *real world* is _nothing_ like the bubble (penal system) you were living in.
Meanwhile, the people you kicked down and talked trash about that didn’t kill themselves survive, graduate, and start rebuilding their lives and confidence, and eventually (hopefully) succeed.
They get good careers because they paid attention in class and learned, instead of riding social clout that nobody’s going to care so deeply about 10 years later.
They find spouses and set down roots, leaving *you* to fall behind in a dead-end job and become socially isolated; the exact fate that you were initially inflicting on those you oppressed back in the school halls.
The irony is quite thick.
@@hobomike6935 actually school is useless. College is what determines your future

I’m so sorry I’m actually going through a tough time with my other sister as well. She has a serious drinking problem and now she has cancer and she may have three months left.
It's so relatable that Flint didn't notice the size of food is getting bigger when his dad said. Sometimes we just don't want to admit that we are wrong in front of our parents especially when they aren't supportive, whether with or without good reasons.
Think Tim knew something bad was going to happen he just didn’t know how to say it
I don’t think he really did, he was more feeling bad that he wouldn’t be able to share the family business with him, he felt like he was seeing his son rise to heights that would just leave him in the dust, he was likely just terrified or losing the only person he has and Flints invention would’ve been the thing to cement his independence from both him and the business.

Fear💜 from Inside Out
This movie is so underrated.
This movie always confused me. Flint literally solved world hunger with his device and the only reason it went haywire was the greedy mayor that broke the machine. Really, everyone should have been mad at the mayor for screwing up their cash cow with his greed and Flint should have made a proper failsafe before or during the events leading up to the catastrophe. I know its a kids movie but it feels like the wrong lesson was learned since Flint was gaslit into thinking he and his invention were in the wrong when it really wasn't.
He wasn't gaslit. It WAS his fault because he himself knew that what was happening was going too far and that he should destroy or shut down the machine. He was given three clear warning signs given to him by his father, Sam, and himself when he saw those big ass hotdogs... And he ignored all of them for the sake of appeasing his daddy issues and desire for recognition, so what happened quickly afterwards WAS on him
@@Joker-dn5xsHe WAS taken advantage of by the towns people because he made their lives easy. He wouldn’t have been so easily taken advantage of had THEY not ridiculed and mocked him for years, essentially making him into a social outcast.
Let’s not pretend his desire of recognition wasn’t born from nothing. It was built over years of being ostracized by the town and not being taken seriously for his genius. He would’ve stopped sooner had he been told otherwise by the populace.
If the towns people weren’t as greedy, things would’ve never spun into mayhem later in the film.
@@chuckingreaper8654
Don't assume or imply that I'm not aware of why he had such a strong desire for recognition and praise in the first place. I know full well WHY and WHERE he got his desires from, and yes the townspeople also had a hand in what happened to the town I never have and never will deny that... But it's still Flint's fault.
As unfortunate as his situation was, understanding and sympathizing does not equal condoning his actions (or lack thereof). Like I said, he was given plenty of warnings signs that he had the ultimate responsibility to heed and act on, but he let his desires cloud his judgement. I get why he did it and I do sympathize with him, really, but that doesn't change the objective truth of the situation.
But don't think I'm only putting the blame on Flint because I'm not. I'm only focusing mainly on him because OP was trying to say he wasn't in the wrong when he was, but he wasn't the only one that fucked up. EVERYONE was at fault -- or least almost everyone -- that's the movie itself stated. (Rough quote) "Sure he made the food, but it was made to order, and now it's time for us to pay the bill." They all helped in making the mess and they came together to help clean it up, which I can respect, honestly.

Not going to lie. Flint may have solved world hunger with this invention alone.
In fact, also solved problems when it comes to vegan, allergies, low intolerance, anything, cause the food is made from water!
But then again, it will be a problem for water, because the food isn’t rotten or going stale, just continuously fresh.
One thing I’ve always wondered, how does that restaurant even make any money if the food rains down

Man, Flint’s Dad is so mean
…is what I would of said when I watched this a kid. But now? I’m not so sure.
Tim recognized that Flint’s pride was getting a bit much (and that it’s not the only thing that’s a bit much). He knew that Flint wanted him to be proud, but as a father, he knew it was his responsibility to point out the faults. Faults that Flint only began to notice AFTER he’d pointed them out.
And as for the “I’ll get out of yur way” attitude, that’s not him being a stubborn, old-fart. That’s him being a father and human. Of course he wants to see his son succeed (and of course he has his preferences of how Flint does so) but he recognizes that despite him being Flint’s father, he cannot control Flint. He has to let his son choose how he does things, and if those things don’t include him or his knowledge of fishing, all he can do is step back and hope for the best (not that he’d hope to shove an “I-told-you-so” in Flint’s face, but rather that Flint either learns the lesson on his own or proves him wrong for worrying.) Of course, Tim wanted to be proud of his son, but by taking a moment to look at Flint’s “success,” he knew that Flint wasn’t out of the woods yet and that celebrating now would be too soon. And after returning to the shop to make more chum, he realizes that maybe he could’ve worded it differently.
I’m not a father myself, but as someone who grew up with a Dad similar to Flint’s, (one who was also very introverted, stoic, and didn’t always know what to say or how to say it) and after several heart-to-heart conversations through the years, I understand where Tim is coming from, even if he never says so in the movie and I felt like I needed to explain the scene from the Dad’s perspective.

This scene is like a father, stepmom and son arguing about how the son does things and what he does and the son says “This is making me happy. Something I haven’t seen you two gave a damn about! When are you both going to accept that this is who I am, instead of trying to turn me into someone else who I’m not?!”
And then they say "when you stop using bath salts."

Flint's dad is awesome.
Now that I think about it, Flint probably owns The Roofless because otherwise the restaurant's menu is a little inconsistent because Flint makes food at random based on the requests of other people. Or he had a deal with the owner and Flint gives a schedule on what food weather they're having.

The reason Tim told Flint to not continue producing delicious food is due to it growing and eventually, starting a massacre on the whole planet, not because it isn't delicious or horrible for humans.
He definitely had no idea that it would’ve ended up like that. I think he told flint not to continue his nvention due to that invention being the very thing that could cement his independence from him and the shop, he must’ve felt like the only person he holds close is now slipping away from him, and he might’ve been terrified at the prospect of being left in the dust with his sons success.
He’d just rather keep the son he loves close and safe, running the family business that he’s worked to give him, than have Flint be successful but gone from his life.

Flint isn't stupid, just incredibly gullible and naive to peer pressure. I think the reason why he doesn't question the abnormality of the steaks at first, is because everyone seems happy and content which fuels his ego that his invention is a success. With his Ego inflated, he doesn't really listen to his loved ones who are trying to warn him. It's quite sad honestly. Even when he notices these flaws he gives into temptation yet again when the mayor brainwashes him into believe that "bigger is better". Luckily though...Flint makes up for this by shutting do the FLDSMDFR and saving Swallow Falls as well as the world.
........I was going to comment how nothing about this would have any logistical sense with fancy wine and that meat falling at terminal velocity, and then it actually started to shatter the glasses.

What’s Going On And Where He’s Walking Away?
Flint invited Tim(his father) to this restaurant to tell him about how he’s going to be cutting the ribbon at the grand reopening, but Tim noticed how the food was getting a little too big and believed that keeping the machine going would only end badly just like Flint’s other inventions had. But Flint is too caught up in the success of his machine and doesn’t listen to him(at least not until later), making Tim walk off in sorrow and anger
I hated Flint's father here
